Union Grove played a good game against Winder Forest in the First round of the playoffs. We are faced up with superb football team NS Warner Robins this Friday, it will be tough for us to advance into the 3rd round, but we have been working hard this week in practice... and anything could happen in the playoffs. And if we do beat NS Warner Robins then there won't be no stopping the UG!!!

Go Wolverines!!!!

If anyone knows ex Brookwood Coach hunter, please have him fire Mark Crews. Mark Crews has single handedly killed the heart and minds of a whole team. This team has the talent to have beaten every time they played but lacking of coaching, no quarterback and no game plan has definitely destroyed them... If Brookwood loses to Parkview... Please FIRE... CREWS.....

How is Moultrie and Valdosta, Columbus, Thomasville North Florida; I thought we were within the limits of Georgia; Colquitt County is part of Georgia and has a very, very, very, good talented team this year that compare's with the teams from Moultrie of the 90's, I am not a fan of Colquitt County but I am going to give them the respect; and you should too@!!!

Cell Mate 2, you must have been in prison too long and not keeping up with football; you must have a mental problem to think that Northside is going to be beaten by any southern team or just say florida team because that is what we consider Moultrie, Thomasville, Valdosta, and Columbus just North Florida!!!

I don't care what anyone say's but it is no way in hell that Northside is going to beat the strong Colquitt County Packers team from Moultrie; you can insult and say whatever but it still want change the fact what this team from the south is going to do the N.S.

Greetings HomeFieldAdvantage,

You have to say that Region1-AAAAA has been VERY exciting this year among other years in that Region. This year is for the region Title i so close, and can be within Lowndes County, and Colquitt County reach if Northside Warner Robins screws up these last games. The Rival game between Northside Warner Robins and Warner Robins, I have a feeling that Warner Robins may upset Northside Warner Robins. Northside Warner Robins fan base is too over confident about those Northside Warner Robins Eagles. I remember when Northside Warner robins couldn't even touch Warner Robins shirt tails because they were always chasing it LOL.....:-)

Now that the table has turned for Northside Warner Robins, and they have defeating Warner Robins lately, they seem to be immune from getting beat by Warner Robins. That is the problem that I see. Warner Robins are very quiet right now and I believe that they may pull the upset this year silencing NSWR Fans. I sure hope that they have a lot of Law Enforcement present there, because if Warner Robins win, it will a battle off the field among fans.

In response to your question for Region 3-AAAAA in making the post season playoffs, it will be in this order: Camden County, Windsor Forest of Savannah, Bradwell Institute, and Beach High Of Savannah. All will be one and done this year with the exception of Camden County. Camden County will advance to the 2nd round and will be done if they meet Lowndes County in the 2nd Round. if not, then I will have to wait and see who they will be playing to make a prediction. Lowndes County will have no problem winning tonight against Coffee County....

SportsFan31313 You are absolutely correct abou not underestimating Warner Robins. Maybe the Northside players will this week, but I doubt it because of the rivalry thing. Lowndes will not underestimate them the following week at our stadium, I assure you.
But if Valdosta wins out (vs Tift and Houston County) Warner Robins will have to win out also in order to make the playoffs. Valdosta beat them in their head to head matchup.

Which two teams besides Camden and Bradwell do you think will make it from your region?

Regions 6-AAAAA and 7-AAAAA are going down to the wire next week.Peachtree Ridge vs North Gwinnett and Lassiter vs Roswell will be as good as any playoff game. I'd sure like to see both of'em. I think this week's Newton vs Union Grove will be a good game, as will Roswell vs Walton. Course Northside vs WR is the biggest around South Georgia after Lowndes vs Coffee. (To me the biggest game is always OUR next one!)

Hoya Chuck,

Don't feel bad. I am a Region 3-AAAAA Bradwell Institute fan. Bradwell Institute will more than likely be one and done as well this year. I predict will be the only team that will advance into the 2nd round, and then they will be done after that.

Greetings HomeFieldAdvantage,

Well as I said before, one could never know about that tough Region of 1-AAAAA. Warner Robins you could never under estimate that team, even when they are down. I was speaking of the Warner Robins / Northside Warner Robins game. It could very well be an upset which could have a potential to send the Region Title up for grabs. Well still I don't know because the tie will go go to Northside Warner Robins because they beat Lowndes County. I was saying that ENR should not lay any claims to any Region Title in 1-AAAAA as of yet because we still have two weeks of regular season left. Lowndes County are on Northside Warner Robins Heels on obtaining that 2009 Region Title. In addition, we still have Colquitt County that have a long shot at laying claims as well. You never know.

To play in Class AAAAA, enrollment must be 1850 or higher, or you must request it. Savannah schools choose to play in AAAAA. Schools may ''play up'' if they choose.

The playoff brackets are set by the GHSA before the season. Too complicated to explain how they do it, except to say regions 1-4 and 5-8 play between themselves in the first round, and there is one team from each region in every quarter of the draw.

Camden didn't play Lowndes in the championship last year.

Teams are put into regions based on geography. As for ''why can't we get Camden in another region,'' the GHSA doesn't set regions based on what fans might want to see. It's about limiting travel. Camden is closer to Savannah, and Savannah teams have a right to play in AAAAA according to GhSA rules.

The cutoff for AAAAA beginning next season will be 1900.

Hoya Chuck - the "powers to be at Valdosta" became disatisfied with O'Brien because he let his assistants be off on Saturday, and not make a presence at the local Boys Club or YMCA for youth league football games. Lowndes had a huge presence there and was starting to get county kids playing there to stay with "county" middle school programs instead of enrolling in the "city" middle schools which was something that had happened at Valdosta for many years. A lot of the former Wildcat "stars" were "county" kids who were "influenced" as youth leaguers to attend "city" schools. That's when the tide started turning in Lowndes' favor in the competition between Lowndes and Valdosta. People in the "know' said O'B was stubborn about that and was let go. (At least that's the local rumor.)

I personally think some of the "powers to be" at Valdosta sometimes think they have the "power" to bring Nick Hyder back.

Sportsfan31313...I'll take "One-and-done" this year!! Just getting to the play-offs this year, with the young team that we have, is more that most expected. Harrison has alot of pride, and has as loyal a fan base, as any school around.

Pridge senior...I agree with you that the NG/PR game should be one of the best of the year! I wish I could see that one. However, I have got to go out and support my Hoyas on thier "1st" play-off game!! If we lose to Marietta, we are done!! I will pulling for Peachtree Ridge, due the great respect I have for thier excellent program and the class thier supporters have shown us each time we have played them!! Good luck!!

GO HOYAS!!

HomeFieldAdvantage: I agree. In an earlier post, I said that the coaching career of Rick Tomberlin at Valdosta would come to an end in Newnan in the 1st round of the playoffs. I wonder if the powers that be at VHS had to do it over again, would they have run Mike O'Brien.
He was 70-20-1 @ Valdosta with a state title. Since he was run, VHS is 46-34 with NO state titles. Just wondering......

Thanks again for the input!! I dont know about the 100 mile rule. mapquest shows savannah at 107miles from kingsland. I know in recent years we've played at Hoover, and at Aiken, Sc. Oh Well, at least the playoffs are only a few weeks away!!

These last 2 weeks will be tough for NSWR, no doubt, but they will find a way. As for Lowndes posters, NSWR was in your vaunted backfield half the night and Lowndes County will also not get by Grayson either, no way, no how! Lowndes cannot play with teams in their same class. Get used to it Lowndes, no state title for you, yet again, get used to it!

I hate it when others say this but, I think that everyone will be suprised by peachtree ridge in the playoffs this year. There is history to prove this: 06: state champions, 07: beat number 1 north Cobb, 08: beat Grayson, runner up.

Ng-pr is going to be the best regular season game this year!

SOUTHGARULES - Warner Robins has two region losses with games remaining against Northside and Lowndes (at Lowndes). Valdosta has three region losses but will be favored in their last two games against Houston County and Tift. Should they both finish with 3 losses, Valdosta would be the 4th place team because of their win head to head. I do NOT think WR will beat both Northside AND Lowndes, that's why I wrote Valdosta in INK to travel to Newnan in the 1st round.

spwhite - GHSA rules prevent a school from traveling more than 100 miles on a school night, and remember, schools play other sports besides football. A school can't be in one region in football but in another region for other sports. Basketball games, baseball games, tennis matches, golf meets, wrestling, softball, etc schedules many games on Tuesday or Thursday nights. A team can decide to play "up" ith a larger size region, but can not play "down " into a smaller size region. For Camden to move to Region 1-AAAAA the closest school is Coffee county, 98 miles. All other region schools are over 100 miles. By the way, the Savannah area schools do quite well in AAAAA basketball.

For the past 4 years 1850 students put a school into Class AAAAA. I've heard the number most likely will increase to probably 1900 for the next 4 years. GHSA will use the attendance numbers reported in Oct 2009 which have not yet been made public. As an example, in the March 2009 attendance numbers reported to the state, Valdosta had 1937 students and Lowndes had just under 2800. I understand Northside had just over 1900. Many Atlanta area schools exceed 3000. When the numbers for the October reporting are published, the GHSA will decide which teams are 5A, 4A, 3A, etc and they will remain that way for 4 years (I've been told).

Hope this helps.

Ok, a few questions. Seems like there are some very knowledgeable people here. 1. What are the qualifications to be a class AAAAA vs a AAAA? I know that the Savannah teams do not have very many players on them but yet they are AAAAA. 2. How are the playoff brackets decided? One year Lowdnes and Camden meet in the championship game, the next they are in the same playoff bracket. 3. Why couldnt we get Camden in another region. I would rather go watch Camden play Valdosta, Lowdes,Coffee, or Warner Robins, then the Savannah teams. And I bet there would even be more fan participation because of the quality of teams that will be playing one another. I see it every year here at Camden. When we play top teams place is packed. When we play sub par teams home side full but not packed but visitors side pretty empty. I would think evrybody involved would benifit, schools, teams, players, and fans!!!!

Good post SportsFan31313 - That took a lot of work man. Good job. But I believe Valdosta win 4th place in Region 1-AAAAA. Can't believe WR will beat Lowndes in the Concrete Palace in the last reg. season game.

Goober,in response to your question about region 1-AAAAA playoff bylaws, I have the region By-laws in writing but am not authorized to pass them out. Contact the region secretary at Colquitt High, School, Kevin Giddens. Maybe that's something Todd might want to do.

In case of a three way tie, the tie breaker is adding all the points allowed in all games involving playoff teams and games among the three teams tied. I.E., if there was a 3 way tie for 4th place, you would add each teams "allowed points' in all of their games with all playoff teams including the two other teams they were tied with.

If there is a 3 way or more tie for 1st place, same thing.

In case of a two way tie for any position , head to head game result decides winner for that position.

Here's exactly what would happen if Colquitt beats Northside and a 3 way tie results, with Colquitt, Lowndes, and Northside. Lowndes surrendered 6 to Colquitt, 10 to Northside, and 15 to 4th place Valdosta (providing Valdosta does win 4th place). Total 31 allowed by Lowndes. Northside allowed 7 to Lowndes and 13 to Valdosta, 20 points so far. Lowndes put 31 on Colquitt and Valdosta scored 7, so Colquitt has given up 38 so far and would be out of the running for the region title.

Now this is all based on the BIG WORD "IF" Colquitt beats Northside. The score in that game would then decide the region championship. Lowndes has other wise given up 31, Nothside 20. So, if Colquitt scores 12 or more on Northside and wins the game, Lowndes is Region Champ.

Simple ain't it? BTW, this foremat has been in place several years in Region 1-AAAAA and is the direct result of this region's teams having difficulties scheduling other Class AAAAA teams to come to South Georgia for non region games. Prior to this format to decide ties, we counted AAAAA non region wins as the tie breaker.

Sportsfan31313: I really like your breakdown of the AAAAA playoffs. However, I must respectfully disagree with some of your observations. I have more confidence in Valdosta beating Tift & Houston County than Warner Robins beating Northside & Lowndes. Even if Warner Robins wins 1 of the 2, they still lose the tiebreaker with Valdosta by Valdosta winning in their head to head matchup. In Region 7, Norcross has Collins Hill & Peachtree Ridge left. They currently have a 1 game lead over North Forsyth with 2 games to go. North Forsyth has an easier schedule & the probablility of winning both games. If they wind up tied, North Forsyth gets the #4 seed by virtue of beating Norcross. However, the results will be the same. The #4 seed in Region 7 will go down whoever it is.
BROOKWOOD MOM: Did I read this right? Brookwood rushed for MINUS 9 yards against Dacula & set passing records for yardage & completions!!

YO, I caught the "kudos" to LaGrange. Udaman. Also I have been clear in my prediction that Lowndes is the most likely team to win AAAAA. As for Newnan, no argument their region is not as tough as Region 1. However, outside of Region 1, Region 4 stacks up pretty well against the rest of GHS football AAAAA regions.I realize you are still having nightmares of those little purple men who get "bigger abd bigger, along with one little purple man who is running around and through everybody on the field". (I took the liberty to paraphrase one of your previous post.) But seriously, do you believe that Grayson is really that good? How about McKeachern? Camden County? Even Northside? Do you believe that on a neutral field Northside would stand a chance against Lowndes? Then there is P'Ridge and Newnan. The Cougars are for real my friend.

SportsFan31313...

You may want to reconsider your East Paulding prediction...IF the playoffs started this week its Harrison NOT EP that is the #4 seed in 5A...for EAST to take the #4 seed Harrison has to lose to Marietta this week and then EP has to beat Cherokee...and if I am not mistaken EP would STILL need Harrison to lose to Etowah in the final game of the season...all this is because Harrison beat EP week before last.

If I am wrong please correct me...

Are you saying that Bradwell Institute should be placed in AAA as well? Bradwell Institute plays in that Region too.

Region 6AAAA,

Out of your interesting picks,

Take Mceachern over Brookwood

Take Union Grover over Windsor Forest (Surely)

Take South Gwinnette over Etowah

I agree with you on the other picks......

Randy, we had that debate a week or two ago (way to show that your a noob) and as much as everybody would love to have Camden in r1 its just not practical. The girl's lax team wouldn't have enough money to go to Lowndes and Valdosta, much less Northside.

One thought put Camden in region 1 please. Put the Savannah schools in 3A, at least for football. Hey spwhite Lowndes vs Camden record is Lowndes 6 - Camden 4. The last two meetings Lowndes has put up shutouts againist the Wildcats. Last time Camden scored on Lowndes was in 2003. I don't bet, but I'm sure waiting for 20 Nov to get here. Go CATS!

Well I posted this comment on another site. But I see that it would better fit to post it here: Here is my First round Predictions:

At the beginning of the season, I predicted that Lowndes County will be the team to beat, and that no one could beat Lowndes County this year. I was proven wrong by Eagle Nations Rising. ( Boy Do I Dislike It Coming From Him) But this year in Class AAAAA just like it has already been commented on, In Class AAAAA it will be a serious battle / fight to the finish in the playoffs this year among Class AAAAA Teams.

Right now in Region 1-AAAAA, All I can say is WOW!!!!! It is to be expected as any team from that Region could make a run for the State Title. Right now, you have Northside Warner Robbins who is number one in the Region, very close by Lowndes County in second, In third you have Colquitt County who has also made a serious statement of not counting them out, and in Fourth you have Warner Robbins who has quietly won themselves into playoff contention this year. Those four teams alone can and probably will create Havoc in the playoffs. But here is the problem. The fourth seed could still be up for grabs as Warner Robbins has two tough final regular season games to play. That is Northside Warner Robbins and Lowndes County. If Warner Robbins by chance upsets Northside Warner Robbins, this can and will be very interesting unless Northside still remains in first as they have beaten Lowndes County in the regular season. If not, then Valdosta will have a chance to enter as the number 4 seed, if Warner Robbins drop their last two regular season games. Then Warner Robbins will be out of Playoff contention. This is very exciting as Region 1-AAAAA still has one or two more weeks to determine the 4th seed. You just never know in Region 1-AAAAA until the last game is played. This year in region 1-AAAAA, the Fat Lady wont sing until the last game more than likely.

Region 2-AAAAA you have in order of seeding, Stephenson, Union Grove, Martin Luther King, who are very dangerous this year, and are very capable of beating some top ranked teams in Class AAAAA. Then you have Newton who will probably be gone as soon as they enter.

Region 3-AAAAA you have Camden County who is Always making their mark for a Title, and can not be under estimated. The 2nd seed Windsor Forest of Savannah, who shockingly upset Bradwell Institute this year, 3rd seed Bradwell Institute who normally comes in 2nd in the Region behind Camden County, who are playing this year with a very young team to include 12 starters being injured in the regular season with 5 of the twelve being out for the season. I have never seen anything like this in high school football. That may answer the question as the reason why they (Bradwell Institute) were beaten this year by some non contender teams like Jenkins of Savannah, and Windsor Forest. The 4th seed is Beach of Savannah. As much as I am a Fan of Region 3-AAAAA (Bradwell Institute) I am realistic. Every school in this Region this year, I suspect to be one and done with exception to Camden County that may make it to round two of the Playoffs. But I believe that their run will come to a screeching halt in the 2nd round this year when, and if they face Lowndes County.

Region 4-AAAAA you have Newnan, and then everyone else. Same here. Just like Region 3-AAAAA all except for Newnan will be one and done.

Region 5-AAAAA you have McEachern, whom has played very well this year as the number one seed. But I put number the 2 seed Woodstock to go further than McEachern in the playoffs. Etowah, and East Paulding will be one, and done after playing those teams from Region 8-AAAAA.

Region 6-AAAAA you have Lassiter. They may get by in the first, and you also have Roswell who may also get by, but Walton and Milton, they may be exiting after the first round.

Region 7-AAAAA you have North Gwinette followed closely by the “Ridge” Peachtree Ridge. They will definitely advance to the 2nd round. Collins Hill, and Norcross will more than likely exit after the first round.

Region 8-AAAAA you have Grayson or as AVIKING FAN put it, “GREYSON” :-) who we all know, will have no problem advancing to the 2nd round. South Gwinette will advance as well, but for Dacula, and Brookwood, call it a day after the first round, and see ya next year in 2010.

So, there you have it after the first round. I will comment after that first round is over, and done with.

Greetings AVIKINGFAN,

I was told that by Dekalb Fan. But if you look on top of the Video Blog, the question was there. I can't believe you all missed it. That is why I post my comments there. After I advised Dekalb Fan, he went back and found it. The question was Which Team do you think will win in Class AAAAA. The AAAA was at the bottom. Thanks for you comments.

Grayson fans: Does Grayson have all of those big-ole country boy offensive linemen back from last year? You know, the ones that Pemberton hid behind before taking the ball and sprinting downfield like he did so well against Lowndes? That was a very good offensive scheme and fit the personnel perfectly.

I posted this on the other blog but this seems to be more current:

To AVikingFan and HomeFieldAdvantage: I don’t doubt you guys on the 1-5A tie-breaker, but there still seems to be some uncertainty about the precise method. So can you guys cite or reference the authoritative source of this info, and better yet, even document it or tell us where it is actually documented? I assume since each region has the right to determine their own tie-breaker methods, it must have been voted on and actually documented somewhere, maybe in the region secretary’s office. Just curious because the method does seem unusual, and it varies from the past method which called for best record against all class 5A competition.

NHS Eagle fan - Read the region Bylaws - No "TRI Champs" - Tie breaker formula determines region champion and playoff seedings.

Reese - if you saw me you'd know they'd lock me up if I put on a skirt and panties! (ha ha) But of course I WILL be pulling for Colquitt when ya'll play. (But here's a little secret - it won't change the outcome!) Go ahead and beat up on WR this Friday. Might make it easier on us to do the same the next week!

Wolverine2Blazer - Good luck here on out - Give Coach O'B our regards!

Greetings SouthGaRules,

I you can't under estimate Warner Robbins. Just when you do that, warner Robbins will beat you. Warner Robbins lost a few key games by penalties. I bet that Warner Robbins will give Northside Warner Robbins a run for their money this year, and may be the team to beat them Northside Warner Robbins in their Stadium thereby bringing a halt to their record of wins at home. This is a very good year in Region 1-AAAAA. Brace yourself for these last two weeks of regular season play in Region 1-AAAAA.

Check out my 1st round predictions under Michael Carvell’s Video Blog: Meet the Southwest DeKalb football all-stars. The question was which Class team do you pick win in Class AAAAA?

Just a couple of observations (responses to previous posts)

The final pass in the NHS-Lowndes game was INCOMPLETE. There was a pass interference penalty, but the pass was not caught. Therefore, there was NO touchdown nullified.

Assuming NHS defeats WRHS and then loses to Colquitt, there would be a three way tie foor the region championship (thus Tri-Champs). The tie breaker on points would be used to decide seeding for the playoffs, and Lowndes would probably be number 1.

In spite of NHS win over Lowndes, I still think Lowndes is the better team and THE TEAM TO BEAT FOR THE STATE TITLE. However, as stated numerous times before, I am extremely proud of our very young Eagles team. I don't think it will happen, but they could end the year wiith three straight loses and this year would still be successful. Next year promises to be even better.

It's great to be a Northside Eagle.

Black and Gold........Colquitt I am sure has improved a great deal since last season ,but losing to Lowndes 31-6 is not what I would call exactly back......How about to Pack is better.....My look is that your Packers and My Eagles are a year (2010) away from 15-0 runs......we'll both make good runs this year ,but both teams still need work don't they?

All streaks are broken, and I believe that Colquitt will beat NSWR at the MAC. I have been saying that the Packers are a good and physical football team. I have compared this team to some of the Colquitt teams of the 90's. They are physical and will just as soon punch you in the mouth. The coaching staff brings a swager to this team, and now they believe they are as good as anyone in the state.
68 Viking: You are right, the Pack is Back.

Yo ,Goober , Avikingfan and the rest of the South Ga crew.......Tommorrow you guys can get fitted for your Warner Robins Demons Cardinal and white cheerleader skirts with matching panties!.......... Don't jump on the demons coat tail ..Lowndes had their shot at top of the heap , take the trip to Kingsland like the Eagles did........Don't look for the Eagles to lose this friday ,it may be close ,but Nix knows this Warner Robins team ,we'll pull it out..........Colquitt is very good, but Northside has had a ton of experience against the Carver's , Westside's and Peach county's old run and shoot type or spread offenses of football ,you can put up good numbers ,but you gotta get in the Endzone.........Get ready to play , I see some very good matchups , starting with round 1 and alway to the Dome

Wolverine2Blazer? re check your math... If Woodstock loses both and Etowah wins both, Etowah would have a better record. 8-2 vs 7-3.
Are you putting Woodstock on upset alert again?

Grayram no there are no other teams. 1AAAAA and Camden are it in S. Ga.
That is what makes it tougher on the S.Ga. teams in the playoffs. They have to travel so far every week.

The reality is given the amount of AAAAA schools above Warner Robins the Atlanta area schools should dominate S. Georgia.

Next year it gets worse as possibly all 3 Warner Robins schools go back down to AAAA.

Also, the S. Georgia schools in AAAAA are generally smaller than our N.Ga. counter parts with the exception being Lowndes and Camden.

It will be interesting to see how realignment affects 1AAAAA and S. Ga. again next year.

Yo: Thats because those are the only team names i see being mentioned on here. I didn't look up records to see who the top south ga teams are. Are there teams in South GA that i didn't mention that could compete? There are others in the north i know such as Roswell, Woodstock, Lassiter.

SouthGaRules: I keep hoping Hunter will not put Brookwood in since they have not been an elite team lately. But whatever teams are chosen the concept would be fun, I would pay to watch it.

grayram: I like your idea for the Corky Kell Classic. However, they will play only 4 games & Brookwood is a given to play in the Classic every year (due to Dave Hunter's involvement). McEachern will also be in the Classic automatically as a Cobb County representative.
SportsFan31313: I agree with you any team can be beaten in 1-AAAAA. However, Warner Robins is too one dimensional and if they can not run the ball, they are toast. I will also say that Colquitt County stands a better chance than Warner Robins to beat Northside. I also know that NSWR does not lose at the MAC in the regular season. (If I didn't know that ENR would remind me of it) I will also say that streaks do come to an end as well. GT winning at FSU & UVA this year come to mind.

Newton, I would not call last week a sub-par performance that we had against Stephenson. When Newton played Stephenson how many players on Stephenson's side sat out? I think we got them at full-strength. Don't get a sense of false hope with your games against Greenbrier and Douglas. Newton has a good team and it should be a great game. I predict UG wins this week and next....I hope anyway!

I predict UG wins this week and next….I hope anyway!

YO, Plowboy, Vikingdad, and Goober - Lowndes gave up 10 points to Northside and 6 to Colquitt (total 16). Northside gave up 7 to Lowndes. Colquitt gave up 31 to Lowndes. If Colquitt beats Northside and scores 10 points or more creating a three way tie, Lowndes wins the region. Cross your fingers guys and let's pull for Colquitt. Maybe Warner Robins' tough style of play and the cross town rivalry thing can take something out of Northside and make it a little easier for Colquitt the next week. We've still got a chance for number 1! Gooooo Lowndes Vikings!

spwhite - Camden beat Lowndes twice in 2003, the year Camden 1st won the state title. They came from behind on a long drive and beat Lowndes in the playoffs that year. Both games were at Camden. Seems like Camden may have beat Lowndes one other time. In 2005 Lowndes beat Camden 30-0 in the dome semis and then Lowndes beat Camden 10-0 in the 07 dome semis. This year's game should really be a good one in the 2nd round, unless Colquitt beats Northside, creating a 3 way tie, which Lowndes would most likely win in the region 1-AAAAA tie breaker system. In that case, Northside most likely would go to Camden in the second round.

As much as I love Camden, I think Lowndes is the team to beat. Even coach Heron stated his concern about playing lowndes in the 2nd round after what they did to Valdosta. But I'll sure will be at the game when Lowndes comes to town pulling for my CATS!!!!! YEAH BABY!!!!
Something interesting, from what history that I can dig up I dont believe that Camden has ever scored a point against Lowndes. I for one would like to see Camden play stronger teams during the regular season, I think it would make them better over all. Its hard to tell what you really have for the playoffs when the rest of the region is so weak. :-( At least coach Heron does schedule pretty tough non region opponents.

Greetings AVIKINGFAN,

Yes this is going to be a serious fight to the finish. I haven't anything like this as far as I can remember. The are some very very good teams going into the post season. Forget the Region. I don't care who is Region Champions. When Round 1 of the playoffs begin, every team is going in 0-0. The winner stays, the loser goes home.

And again I will say this about Region 1-AAAAA. ENR is talking to soon about laying any claims to a Region Title. They still have a good Warner Robbins that they still have to play. This could very well be their upset this year. In addition, Colquitt County is still out there as well that Northside Warner Robbins still have to battle with.

I will remind you that in Region 1-AAAAA any team can be beaten. I believe that Warner Robbins has the opportunity, and talent to do it in addition to Colquitt County.....

draycoach, I have been to every charlton county game this year and I'll agree they have a so so defense, however the point is how many teams can score 50? Nobody has done it to them yet this year. 48 is the best and in that game the score was 39-19 @ the half. It was a not so home game we played in Camden @ 6 on a Fri. as soon as we came out after the half we marched up and down the field and it went from 39-19 to 39-42 pretty fast. The fact is our 2 worse games of the season came to 2 teams desperate to beat us before we move back down to 1A. To those 2 teams it was their top goal of the season to beat charlton, call it their super bowl. So know what you're talking about before you speak. Maybe the truth is you are a fan of one of those 2 teams.

Slalom....Northside, Peachtree for sure. Strong possibility of Colquit and slight possibility of Warner and the Cats.

With your Carver/Lowndes comparison I have to say then that Tift must be better than Carver or Lowndes since they scored 13 on Northside.
I think we can both now agree that is all nonsense.

Grayram I appreciate the respect you seem to be giving to Region 1AAAAA
in that North/South Shootout.
You have 10 teams involved and 4 of them are from 1AAAAA.
Seems you have 1AAAAA and Camden going up against all of the top seeds of every other region. An interesting thought. That in my opinion would be embarrasing to the North should the South win that one.

Does Warner Robins have separate city and county boards of education like we have here in Valdosta? Or is it all administered by the Houston County Board of Education?

Note to His Honor: This is football-related, I promise.

OK I humbly and meekly accept the warning, Your Honor.

Meant to say earlier Camden and Lowndes have won 5 of the last 6 state crowns in 5A, not 4 of 6.

Hey AJC why don't you guys do a Final Four or Final Two contest for each class when the playoffs begin?

And seriously, will there be a new stadium in Warner Robins next year, when Veterans High opens? If not, how are you guys gonna play four teams in one stadium? It ain't no fun playin high school ball on Saturdays.

Have you ever watched the ACC vs Big East challenge at the beginning of the college basketball season?
How much fun would the Corky Kell Classic be if it evolved into the North-South Shootout?

Stephenson v Lowndes
North Gwinn v Camden
Grayson v Northside Warner Robins
Newnan v Colquit
Mceachern v Warner Robins

All in one weekend to start the season!!

YO, Just a few more things, then I will shut up. Have you seen the Grangers this year? Didn't think so. Are you aware of QB Jamius Gunsby(6'5 230) who has major offers from schools like Florida just to name one? Have you seen Joe Mansour, the state's best kicker? Has field goals of 56 and 59 yards. Punts average 47 yds. Kick-offs in the end zone virtually every time. As impressed as you are with Ean Pemberton, you should see LG's Ocie Salter(5'5 162) a Lionel James clone. Salter was a non factor in the second half against Newnan due to a devastating TD saving hit by Alec Ogletree. The Grangers have a full head of steam with good size and speed on both sides of the ball. Having said that, in defense of Newnan the Cougars played the Grangers without their #1 QB. So getting back to the schedule of Lowndes, just exactly which teams would you place ahead of the Grangers? P'Ridge? NO WAY. Northside? Possibly. Colquitt, Tift, HOCO, Valdosta? Just curious.
