IMO, Tift is playing too conservative right now. They should be going for the throat. Northside has played as ugly and sloppy as possible and are still only 2 TD’s and conversions away from being ahead. Tift got their 13 point lead and have kind of backed off the perimeter run game. Not what I would do if I was their coach.

At the half: Tift 13 Northside 0 Tift got a big interception again but the clock ran out in the half before they could score again.

24- I may have gotten them confused then. I was basing my info on a staff member I had a lengthy conversation with about the Peach County game. I didnt see it or hear it.

It will be interesting to see if Nix is able to pull this one off too. This whole season has been all on Nix IMO. People can say young doesnt mean anything(as I have seen on this forum), but this Northside team was WAY more green than we were used to. Anyone who has ever coached on any level understands the importance of having guys who have been there and done that. Hats off to Nix on being undefeated up to this point. I certainly didnt expect it this year. Hope he does his thing some more in these last 2 quarters.

The best news for Southwest DeKalb, trailing 7-6 at halftime vs Marist, is that Ken Malcome is ready to go for the second half. He came out for a few plays with leg injury.
Malcome has 10 carries for 117 yards.

This is a blurp from a Northside “glory story” website. At least they almost acknowledged the 2003 beat-down. Talking about NHS vs Tucker “…the second quarter is drawing to a close and NHS is behind 28 to 7. The last time NHS had trailed by more than 20 points was back in 2003.”

the canes are getting a little payback from last year….. we limped into the brooks co. game with a backup QB and other injuries and still almost pulled it off. payback is a ###$%$%%.

Davis Mann- I think most Northside faithful would tell you we do feel a bit overrated. Not too many of the NHS folks that I know expected them to be undefeated at this point. We just have a strong and passionate fan base, so it probably grinds a lot of peoples gears seeing all the talk.

SWD opens second half with 74 yard TD drive, backed by the legs of Ken Malcome. SWD QB Steven Coates did some show-boating, holding the ball out in his 1 yard TD run.

See him just about every time I’m home. He’s got a couple of athletes in training…I think his daughter is about to be 5 and Derrell Jr. is 3. I actually see Fernando more often…and Wayne Gay is a staple at the Mann household.

SWD could’ve put Marist away with fumble recovery at the Marist 9-yard line. But they fail to score, and turn it over on downs. Great teams put the game away when they have the chance.

fitzgerald- it certainly sounds like the officials working the tift/northside game want to get some attention. flags on about 25-30% of the plays seems like.

Hey NORTHSIDE24,,,,, the Tift co. refs stink . They screwed us when I was in highschool and called back a 90 td for the win…the call was Offensive pass int. and it was nothing more than blown coverage.

i dont know if anyone has noticed, but on the woodstock-cherokee game photos the names for the players in the photos are off. i think you have woodstocks and cherokees lineups mixed up.

I dont consider it a tightrope. I said in week 1 that I expected this to be a bit less successful season for Northside than what we have been the last several years. I like to call a spade a spade. Its been a pleasure watching/listening to them overachieve. Regardless to the outcome today, I’m proud of those kids and i’m looking forward to next week!

falcon… they (the tift co. refs) did it to us when i was in highschool. they hated that a little town like fitz was putting it to them and screwed us on a game winning call. now it takes an act of congress to get them to play us. 5A vs 2A and they are scared.

I live in Atlanta now. Football caused me to seek anger management lol. I’m a Falcons fan. Actually leaving tomorrow to head to Dallas for that game. As a lifelong Falcons fan, you have to start taking it personally if you want to live past 40. High school football especially since its kids. I used to treat it like gang warfare. Now I just try to enjoy it.
