If Walton beats Lassiter (and they will), & Milton beats Roswell (which they can), who is the favorite to win 6-AAAAA?
And…does it even matter who finishes 1-2, because either way, both teams would avoid North Gwinnett & P’tree Ridge in the 1st rnd of the play-offs.

After that, the 6-AAAAA teams will get waxed anyway, so I guess it’s kind of irrelevant except for local bragging rights.

Black and Gold24: If what you’re saying is correct & I have no reason to doubt you, then Warner Robins is in for a long night. They simply can not throw the ball. Stop the run & you beat the Demons. It has been that way in the past, it is now & will be in the future. Outside of Bob Davis (son of the coach), when has Warner Robins had a QB that could throw?

Cannon – I agree Cherokee is a great place to watch a game since you are so close to the field especially on the Visitor’s side. You can hear just about everything the coaches are saying on the sideline… too much somtimes for the sensitve ears.

The negative about the cheerleaders is true, but what bldg are you talking about? I have been to many a football game for Etowah and there is no bldg blocking the view. The bleachers are low to the ground and that can cause some sight line problems.

Todd: Nice preview on the Marist vs. SWD game. You noted that both schools have produced a lot of D-I players. Here is something that might surprise even you — both teams have produced the same number of NFL players, but Marist has the most currently in the NFL (and indeed Marist currently has among the most players in the NFL as any high school in the country). Should be a great game tonight.

Dacula over Brookwood 14-7

Dacula’s defense will stop the very predicable / boring Brookwood offense.

I may be totally missing the boat here, but this Colquitt county team is better than what most are giving them credit for. Lowdnes put up their points on the Packers, because of turnovers and the short field. Lowdnes drove the field once on the Packers all night. This defense is physical, I believe that anyone that has seen these guys play know that they are for real. I will say it again, Warner Robins will not stuff the ball down the Packers throat. This will be a great matchup tonight.

Cannon, I think you have Cherokee and Marietta mixed up. Northcutt Stadium is the one with the concession stand in the middle of their visitor side stands. Cherokee doesn’t have anything in the middle of theirs.

Wolverine Fan, I got the rain gear ready to go for tonight, lol, wish there was a portable canopy big enough to get stretched across the visitors side at Kenn Mt. Hope everyone stays warm and dry. Good luck to everyone

Here’s also hoping EP, Harrison, Union Grove, Liberty County, and Bradwell Institute win 2nite. Parkview can get back into the picture as the 4th place team in Region 8-AAAAA by staying at home and sitting this weekend out.

VIKING DAD is alive and well after suffering a heart attack after the N’SIDE game. The Eagles were better then I they would be ENR and eagleforlife. The loss was a wake up call for the Vikings. They returned to the Palace and destroyed Valdosta Wildcats. The Eagles maya be the TOP DOG now but you have the toughest games remaining. Yes you have COLQUITT and WARNER ROBINS at THE MAC, but beware of the Packers and Demons. The Packers gave Lowndes all we wanted, but the interceptions killed them. The Demons have to wiin out also to keep the Cats from the playoffs.

I will have to agree. Mark Crews and his staff are perhaps the worst coaches I’ve seen in a decade. They have pretty decent talent but they don’t seem to know how to coach the boys up. The kids have digressed under Crews and the boys. The defense is horrible. They have an offense led by a quarterback that’s horrible. He is the worst in the league. I would hope that the college scouts are not that gullible. The McClane and the Moore’s probably cost Brookwood a chance at a championship….. Dacula 35 – Brookwood 7…..

Thanks Crews……

Northside is in a “trap game” tonight in Tift County. All Eagle fans need to travel to Tifton and support our young Eagles. This is the type of game where young players can look ahead and get caught in the crossfires of a proud program with nothing to lose. I expect the Blue Devils to put their heels in the ground tonight.

Warner Robins 28, Colquitt 7. I do not know how to make this any clearer. Warner Robins is literally going to get on a bus, go to Moultrie, and display to the state of Georgia what Warner Robins football is all about. Warner Robins has done everything to prepare for this kind of a finish. Colquitt County, Northside, and Lowndes County posters should be on “Big Red alert.” Warner Robins is big and physical. Their defense is as good as Northside’s or Lowndes County’s. They are one dimensional on offense. However, they can still WIN the region. Colquitt County gets a reality check tonight.

Stephenson 21, Union Grove 7. Stephenson continues to disprove the critics with another easy win over a Region 2-AAAAA foe.

McEachern 35, Harrison 7. McEachern sends a message to everyone in the state willing to pay attention to a team averaging nearly 43 points per game in a very good region. My instincts tell me that it is going to be worse. However, I have respect for Harrison. I would not be shocked if McEachern “Peachtree Ridges” Harrison, juest because they can. It might get nasty for the Hoyas tonight.

North Gwinnett 17, North Forsyth 14. Bells of a State Championship ring in the heads of Bulldog fans and Bob Sphire as NG beats only the second Georgia opponent with a winning record during this season…both with at least 3 losses by the time we are eating breakfast on Saturday morning. Make sure you purchase, “How to Schedule Cupcakes” by Bob Sphire…in paperback.

Hillgrove 35, Hiram 14. It is officially girl’s basketball season in all of Paulding County after Hiram’s dreams are squashed by a very talented team from Hillgrove.

Hmmmm..T.C.: I looked at the brackets. It appears that if Northside wins Region 1 and Grayson wins Region 8 and Lowndes is Region 1 #2, Camden would play Lowndes in game 2 most likely so one of them will be eliminated after week 2. That game would be at Camden. Northside and Lowndes would be on opposite sides of the brackets so they wouldn’t meet until the championship game provided both make it that far.

Vikes69: HoCo is playing like a middle school program. I would not even waste my time on that game. You can go to the following site: http://www.wnngthepatriot.com/News-Talk_WNNG,_The_Patriot_(AM/wnng_streaming.html. You should be able to hit the Warner Robins Demon icon and it will go to their radio broadcast of the game.

Plowboy: What evidence shows you that Colquitt County is prepared to compete against the top teams in the region? Did you listen to a Rush Propst press conference. Alabama football is not close to Georgia football from top to bottom. This guy Propst is a legend in his own mind. Lowndes County VIOLATED Colquitt County. Warner Robins runs a similar offense. It baffles me that you simply assume that this guy, Propst, has figured out how to stop the Wing T. Either you get it like the coaches at Grayson and Warner Robins or you do not get it like the coaches at Colquitt County and Peachtree Ridge. Colquitt is not prepared to stop Warner Robins. You will see. Last season Lowndes County put up 51 points on Colquitt. Warner Robins scored 39 points and their team was not good last season. Lowndes put up 30 on Colquitt. I expect Warner Robins to have no problems scoring tonight.

Viking Dad: It is great to see that you are alive and have crawled from under your Lowndes County rock of pride. I was afraid that you had choked on crow or something. Look, everyone knows that Lowndes County is a great program. The fact that they struggle on the road, doesn’t mean that the Vikings are not clearly one of the the best programs in the nation. Most road games a long trips. Valdosta is practically North Florida. We understand. That is why most Eagle posters correctly believed that Northside was going to beat any team that had been on a bus for two hours. The MAC is too loud and too intimidating for the average high school kid to ride a bus for hours and then have the resolve to win there.

You are going to have to give a little respect to a program that is 115-12 since the turn of the century!!! You are going to have to give a little respect to a program that has been Nationally ranked for the past four straight season. You do know that football is really big in Warner Robins, GA. You do know that winning is really big in Warner Robins. It is not an accident that the most powerful Georgia senator in history is from Houston County. It is not an accident that the Governor of Georgia is from Warner Robins. It is not an accident that Warner Robins athletes win big in Little League (baseball and softball…the only city to ever accomplish the feat). Winning is a way of life in Warner Robins.

You have to clearly know that it is not be chance that Northside has not lost at McConnell-Talbert since 2004 or lost at the MAC to a visiting team since in the regular season since September 20, 1996. Come on Viking Dad, you are better than that.

The truth is Northside is in rebuilding mode, which is reloading mode. We have a few senior starters. However, all of our primary players are sophomores and juniors. Therein, lies a problem for the entire Peach State. Our kids are still learning the spread offense. It was evident when we played Lowndes County, as we drove down the field every time we used it. When we took the lead, Coach Nix went back to a power I set. Something tells me that Northside’s Resident Football Genius has something up his sleeve. The future is NOW at Northside!

Don’t worry VikingDad. Northside will be out of the region soon. You will not have to hide and live in fear of Northside for very much longer.

BlackandGold24: You are absolutely correct! Football games are won on the field, not in chat rooms. There is no doubt about that. I just wanted you to know what train is headed your way.

Black&Gold, you know that I love our Northside Eagles. I mean this honestly. I will not be surprised if Warner Robins wins the region or finishes in second place. I know that you are laughing. However, I have seen these guys from Warner Robins play. I think their brand of football is VERY boring. However, I think their brand of football is hard to beat. Colquitt County has NEVER beaten their smashmouth (Wing T) brand of football under Rush Propst. Furthermore, the Packers have not even been competitive against such offenses giving up 40 or 50+ points. Travel is the only thing that is going to stop Warner Robins from really embarassing Colquitt. That is why I am saying Warner Robins 28, Colquitt County 7.

I could be wrong. I just think that Warner Robins has played and competed against Grayson already. If you can get on a bus and compete against Grayson, why would you struggle against Colquitt County? I just don’t see it. I think Grayson is better than every team in our Region, including Northside, Lowndes County, Valdosta, and Colquitt County. I could be wrong. However, I think Warner Robins has played the best and will beat every team that does not play up to those standards. The Valdosta game was a series of misfortunes for Warner Robins. The soundly outplayed Valdosta. They are going to outplay Colquitt County too.

You are correct, Black & Gold 24. Games are played and won on the field of play. Chat rooms mean nothing. Of course, in our world we can only look at what has been done on the field.

On the field Warner Robins has already played at the best team in the state and arguably the nation by playing at Grayson. On the field, Warner Robins runs a wing T offense. It is boring to me, but it is hard to stop. On the field, Colquitt County has displayed an inability to stop the offense and given up huge yards in points to the teams that run the wing T (Lowndes County and Warner Robins) over the past year.

In a chat room, there is no reason to believe that Colquitt coaches are going to magically figure out how to stop the offense. Furthermore, it is even more unlikely that Colquitt players are going to know what to to. It is going to be a long and hard night.

I really believe that Warner Robins can win Region 1-AAAAA. I know that you are laughing. However, to assume that they are going to finish 5th is wild speculation. In my view, it is more likely that Warner Robins will finish somewhere between 1 and 3. Those who underestimate Warner Robins, who has already played the best team in the state, are fooling themselves.

I tease Todd Holcomb for drinking the Peachtree Ridge Kool-Aid. I have drank the Warner Robins Kool-Aid.

ENR: Evidently you do not read the history books. When Warner Robins & Northside win as many state titles as Valdosta & Lowndes, then your posts may have validity. Believe it or not, the sun does not rise and shine on NSWR as you would have it believe. With a team that has won over 100 games, you would expect them to win more than 2 STATE titles! Just because you beat Lowndes this year, don’t go wearing yourself out patting yourself on the back. (Disclaimer-I did not go to HS in Georgia, My wife is a WRHS grad, but that’s beside the point.) There is a reason they call Valdosta Winnersville. Did you not see the special on ESPN last year? Well, we might as well cancel the rest of the season & anoint MIGHTY NSWR STATE CHAMPS.

ENR No doubt this is a huge game for both Colquitt and WR. I agree that WR is a very solid team, they proved that with Grayson. I am simply saying these Packers are for real. I have been watching 1AAAAA football for years and have seen some of the better Packer teams of the 90’s, and these guys are getting there, if not already there. I believe that any of the top 4 teams from this region will beat 75% of the other teams in the Playoffs.

SouthGARules: I am not of the opinion that State Championships in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s are something to do cartwheels about, due to skewed school attendance policies. Society was not represented by the people who were crowned state champions. Those state championships really do not apply to football today in the state of Georgia. For a matter of fact, since the state playoff format was changed comparing State Championships prior to 1990 is similar to comparing a playoff run in MLB today, with multiple rounds of playoff series, to the old days of MLB when a team won the pennant based upon their regular season record and only two teams made the playoffs which were the World Series. You are comparing apples and oranges.

Today, Grayson is a better program than Clarke Central. Grayson has no state championships. Nonetheless, they are a better program on and off of the field than Clarke Central, a traditional power. Grayson is better at this moment. Today, at this moment, Lowndes County is a better program than Valdosta. The Vikings have better facilities. They have better coaches. They have better players. It is not even close. Valdosta has more state titles. Valdosta is not better at any level of a high school football program than programs like Lowndes County or Northside today. Northside is better than Warner Robins. Peachtree Ridge is better than Parkview. I could go on and on.

Valdosta HS does not win in anything…not one sport…not one GHSA event. We can get involved in some sort of pissing contest. However, if your wife really went to Warner Robins, she will inform you that Northside has won multiple GHSA State Championships in many areas. The success on the football field is more recent.

Since our school opened in 1963, Northside High School has more GHSA State Champinonships trophies at our high school than Warner Robins, Valdosta, Lowndes County, Colquitt County, Coffee, Houston County, and Tift County combined over the same period of time. WE ARE THE WINNERS! End of story.

Northside has 27 different GHSA State Championship trophies that sit in our high school over the past 51 years. You are simply familier with two recent football state championships. I do not believe that you can say that about Lowndes County or Valdosta or any other one dimensional (football only) school within 100 square miles of Valdosta. Find 27 GHSA State Championships at Valdosta and Lowndes County (COMBINED) and get back to me.

I do not want to hear about Winnersville. That is a 1970s PR campaign that does not resonante in today’s world.

By the way, I would be SHOCKED if Northside won the GHSA state championship in football this year, since our team is loaded with 15 year old starters. I would be equally as shocked if Northside did not win the GHSA One Act, State Literary, or Debate state championships. That is because as the sun rises in the east, Northside wins GHSA State Championships.

Unfortunately, for schools like Lowndes County and Valdosta, you better win in football or you chances to compete on the big stage dimishes SIGNIFICANTLY. Can you imagine Lowndes County or Valdosta winning the GHSA State Literary Championship? That is laughable! It is why you guys from Valdosta hate Northside so much. We have destroyed the one dream you have of winning at the highest level of competition in this state. Football is just one of many GHSA events that Northside Eagles expect to compete in.

SouthGARules: I am serious. Find 27 GHSA State Championship trophies at Valdosta HS and Lowndes County HS since Northside High School was opened in the fall of 1963 and get back to me. That is correct. You are welcome to combine the school’s GHSA state championships together. Keep in mind that Northside HS is smaller than either Valdosta or Lowndes County.

Take the approximately 4700+ students who attend Valdosta HS and Lowndes County HS. Heck you can throw in another 4000+ from Coffee HS and Colquitt County HS. I will take the approximately 1900 students who attend Northside HS. I can find students who compete for GHSA State Championships in a variety of areas and show documentation for 27 GHSA State Championship trophies that sit at Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA

You find just 20 GHSA State Championships at Lowndes County, Valdosta HS, Coffee, and Colquitt County combined. Heck, you can even throw in Tift County HS. Let’s have this conversation, Mr. Winnersville.

ENR: I’m supposed to be impressed with 27. That does not rank in the top 5 in Gwinnett County schools.
Parkview has 75 State Championship and they opened in the 1970’s. Brookwood has over 35 and they opened in 1981. Collins Hill has over 30 and they opened in 1994. You are the one that started this p****** match. Besides, when my wife went to WRHS, NSWR was insignificant. I know you are proud of NSWR & if people don’t know that, they are brain dead. What people are tired is the ad nauseam you go on like “The Cannon”.

Reality and Gwinnett Fan: I sure hope you don’t have a son that plays for Brookwood. If he hears you constantly talking about how bad the coach is and how bad the quarterback is then he will not have any support for the team. If you hate Brookwood so bad then your kid does not need to be on the team point blank. I don’t like losing either! Last weeks game was a huge embarrassement, but we are in another week. Quit writing us off! We still have three more games until the playoffs. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT THOSE BOYS!
