the Carver Lagrange game is next weekend not this weekend (same weekend as ga/FLORIDA)unfortunately. Also,my good friend slalom1, who is this new SHERIFF coming to Columbus? you got me on that one. Finally, rumor has it that good ole Charles "Magic Bus" Flowers is coming back to coach Central of Phenix City,(right cross the riva from Columbus) so Dell McGee better grease up his van cause he and Flowers both play that "what district" come play for us game.

Slalom 1

"Truth is, if my team had to win at the expense of shamefully recruiting players from outside of their respective districts,I would find it difficult to enjoy the wins."

Yeah right, you would take them either way. Everyone does it whether you get caught or not. It's sad but now teams have to do it just to compete. Being honest and working with what you have will get you fired now a days if you're not winning.

G-Lion

I understand what you're saying with trying to make up for the cost of the dome but multiple games at Grady stadium and multiple games at the Georgia Dome the prices will never be the same. One is a professional venue and the other is used for prep sports. It's the same in basketball, the ealry rounds of the state playoffs(hosted by the higher seeds) would never be the same price as the admission at the finals.(Neutral Site-Gwinnett Arena or Macon Coliseum)

Viking / South GA people. If your not doing anything tonight Valdosta State is playing #1 North Alabama at Blazemore-Hyder. Come introduce yourself to the mascot. haha.

Cannon - Agreed! Not sure why Reeze hadn't already put Region 5 (McEachern) into the no-brainer category. The commentary on Harrison was not to imply that McEachern will fall... my guess is that McEachern wins going away.

At this point, I want to close ranks and hope Region 5 bodes well in the playoffs. A little sorry to not see EP going to the post season... as you guys have historically traveled and played well in the playoffs. I am guessing our #3 (hopefully Etowah) draws South Gwinnett in the first round...

Etowah Fan...

If the McEachern team that played EP so hard shows up and the Harrison team we saw at "The Boneyard" shows up McEachern will win easily...McEachern is a VERY physical team and EP had a good game against them a few weeks ago...That game was a HARD loss for EP as they really wanted to win it and EP cam to play that night and could have stole one from McEachern but let it get away...

Last wek was totally different and EP kept Harrison in the game all night...GIVING them a gift with seconds to go before halftime of a TD when EP fumbled a STUPID play in its own endzone!!! The Harrison team we saw at "THE BONEYARD" last week will have a VERY tough time against McEachern!!!

It still looks like #1 McEachern, #2 Woodstock, #3 Etowah & #4 Harrison...

Reeze - I would put Region 5 (McEachern) in your no-brainer category... if the Region Champ and homefield advantage for at least the first and second round are your metrics.

McEachern has already run the gauntlet in our Region and "should" win out to claim the Region title. Harrison tomorrow night is really McEachern's only remaining test... and it should be no problem as long as they don't beat themselves. First round, McEachern should draw Brookwood, Dacula, or Parkview... and they beat Brookwood earlier this year.

Hrmmm... there is such a thing as a humble EP Fan. ;-)

Cannon - I wouldn't leave the cannon tradition (on this blog) behind just yet. I have rather gotten used to it and might actually miss it.

Pops - not sure where the Wolverine crew is headed except for a little worry that their heads have gotten too big with their new found (and deserved) ranking. I think Coach O'Brien will keep them grounded. To quote another rather successful coach from the North Avenue Trade School: "[They] haven't won anything yet."

B-Nasty. You are somewhat correct in the key will be in UG's running game. Last week we had two starters out as well as another tackle who see alot of time. I have to disagree that we lost a superb o-line from last year. They did a good job but I believe the o-line is just as good they only problem is our offense is sooooo pedictable. Let's go out and shock the world the Saturday.

Well we started the Countdown Clock and loaded the cannon a few weeks ago for McEachern and when the clock wound down, the cannon misfired and EP left the shadow of the big Injun' in Powder Springs with a loss...

Then came Etowah and we again loaded the Cannon and wound up the countdown clock...this time the clock exploded & the cannon misfired all night as Etowah turned the cannon on EP and had us ducking and running all night long!!! EP was lucky to get out of that Eagles Nest at all, those were some VICIOUS eagles that night!!!

Then came last week and we started the countdown clock and loaded the cannon for Harrison as they came to "THE BONEYARD"...again the cannon misfired just enough and Hoya Chuck and his crew left EP with a victory!

So now comes Kennesaw Mtn. tomorrow night, don't think this one rates the countdown clock and just hoping the Raiders from EP have enough pride to at least play a complete game this time and finish this game with a win!!!

This years team IS NOT as good as we had thought, but IT IS NOT as bad as they have played in several games this year!!! Finishing at 6/4 on the year is still doable and a good goal at this point!!! Probably not worthy of a playoff spot but it builds for next year as EP is playing with a LOT of jr. starters this season who will be back next year...

HomeFieldAdvantage............Region - 1 Northside , But its still up for grabs ,the Eagles are in the drivers seat ,but we still have the Packers and Demons in the next couple of weeks....I think Northside will get past Colquitt ,The Demons ,I don't know .....They are a lot better than people think...they are very good against the run... As good as Lowndes is ,they may be on the road for the 1st round.....It wouldn't surprise me if they handed Lowndes and Northside losses..........Region - 2 Stephenson.....I hear Union Grove screaming on this blog , The Grove could only muster up 80 yards of total offense vs Northside in the 2nd round last year ,I really hope the 2009 squad is better....Region 5 , MaCeahern.......It will be a couple of knock out drag outs in the first round region 5 vs 8 matchups.........Region -6 , I don't know much about this region.........Region - 7 NG.....can't get over the 51 given up to Lowndes by the Ridge......Regions 3 , 4 , 8 are no brainers

Considering the Griffin Bears strength of schedule (or lack thereof) this season, their meteoric rise to the top of the AAAA ranks seems to have some folks in a "crumpled drawers" attitude! Alcovy folks seem to be the most wrinkle-rashed with all the "what about me" (waa-waah.snif snif-waaaa) "why are we not considered in the rankings"???....PUH_LEEEEEZE... good grief Alcovy...it's like this...Once you establish a TRADITION of Winning YEAR after YEAR and playing the BEST the State has to offer then and only then may you even be mentioned in the same sentence with the likes of GRIFFIN, SWD, BAINBRIDGE, MARIST, TUCKER, WESTSIDE MACON, NORTH CLAYTON, etc etc....just be patient...try to keep winning in your GRIFFIN OWNED region, and USE SOME OINTMENT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!! oh and by the way...when you get slammed and hear the "bear-meat" chants, don't feel too bad about it...Lots of teams have heard it over the years, right after that Bear Claw hammer slam...they are THAT good...seriously. buy extra ointment.

Long-Time Dekalb Fan I agree the the other counties don't have a clue how lucky they are not to have to deal with DeKalb country approproations of funds. Tucker biggest weakness is who ever is calling the plays for the offense. Very predictable and not very imaginative considering the talent and speed Tucker has.

If Union Grove unleashes the good running backs that we have in D. Johnson and T.J Moon we have a good chance at being 8-0 after the game this weekend...The offense took a hit after last year's superb offensive line left..That's why the ground game hasn't been as spectacular as it was last year..defensively UG and Stephenson are evenly matched..Stephenson is loaded on D and decent on Offense..Union Grove is outstanding on D and Ok on offense..QB Ty Moore has improved but only with the help of ATH Jordan Akins..When Akins is in the game there is always potential for 6 points..Akins is the one of the best in the state and can hang with anyone (including the Jags)..we will see though..this game rides on the O-Line of UG and the speed of Stephenson..Could get interesting in a hurry

In other news, North Gwinnett is making a good run for State this year alongside NS Warner Robins..Lowndes Co. can forget it this year..not enough fire power as usual..Grayson has a good team but not a GREAT team yet..They are over-hyped and geared for a playoff upset in my opinion..im taking NSWR and North Gwinnet in State..that is "IF" my Wolverines don't luck up and make it..God bless them and the ol' Collinater

I’ve been studying my Crystal Ball. I see Warner Robins beating Colquitt but losing to NSWR and Lowndes to finish 4-3. Valdosta will finish 4-3 also. Colquitt will also lose to NSWR and will finish 4-3. This means a three way tie. Another post explained Region 1-AAAAA’s tie breaker as points allowed among the three teams tied. Valdosta gave up 7 to Warner Robins and 14 to Colquitt for a total of 21.
Colquitt gave up 7 to Valdosta. Warner Robins agve up 14 to Valdosta. So, this means the score in Friday’s Warner Robins and Colquitt game could decide which 3rd and 4th place teams go to the playoffs from region 1-AAAAA. (I bet neither team will play their subs on defense this week.)

Hey Todd – this might make the Colquitt vs Warner Robins game the biggest in the state this week. You and ole Carvel need to ponder that.

eagleforlife: Just curious. If you are a NSWR grad, then what in the world are you doing with a Demon sweat shirt? I know my wife (who graduated from WR before you were born (1977)) would not be caught wearing anything blue or orange. However, with some of her fellow classmates having kids at HoCo & NSWR, I'm sure its confusing.
AVikingFan: Your info is correct. Tamburo is at Boise State.

Decatur 4 Life, I think you speak fact but not necessarily the truth. I would guess that APS knows that the majority of people attending will only be there for one game and will casually catch part of another. It sounds better if you can call it a package deal or a bundle.
When they have multiple games at Grady or Lakewood, ticket prices are not raised. Truth probably is that they have to raise the ticket price to offset the cost of the GA Dome Authority and the loss of concessions
and HOPE to make it break even.
Turns out with the weather coming in that it will be nice to be dry and watch a game, and that will be worth the premium. But, they squandered the gate ($8 per ticket) and concessions $ they could have had if they had been ready for Grady Stadium. Who got hurt? The kids and taxpayers.

To "Reeze". The Northside bloggers keep talking about certain Dekalb teams not winning titles with all the talent they supposedly have, well let me tell you if you make 20 trips to the Dome and come away with only 2 titles, what the heck do you call that. Stop downing other programs if you dont have the "Titles" from all your trips to the Dome to back it up. I think Northside is a great program and absolutely love every time I get to see them play. But 2 titles is not a dynasty.

Yo and Avikingfan are back in full force after sucking their thumbs down to the bone after losing to the Eagles.......It's far from over in Region-1 ,I wouldn't be surprised if the Vikes are on the road in the 1st round of the playoffs....... Randy Mac needs to wake up and pass more ,a good defense shut the run down and will keep the Vikes out of the End Zone. Now I am sure that Nix went over the Lowndes/Grayson game with a fine tooth comb...... And Way will do the same with both the Grayson and Northside games vs the Vikes .......As ENR would say "UPSET ALERT' for the Vikes and the Eagles vs the Demons

rwdekalbfan..........12 -0 is not exactly "Northsided".......I can feel your pain though , I can understand the hate for Northside in Dekalb County ,you know we owned region 6 a couple years back ...Tucker with all the D 1 defensive backs that couldn't cover ,. Ivory threw 300 plus on in one half , Marist and the White Buffalo that couldn't run through a paper sack , Pius , ......... they were pretty good.....Anyway other than Lowndes ,Buford and a couple others , How many can boast 5 Dome apperances in 10 seasons?.........Dynasty? , maybe not ,but a whole hell of a lot better than anything in Dekalb county...

Cannon - not sure I completely agree with you that Marietta should beat Harrison. You call it a wildcard... albeit you are hopeful and biased since it would improve EP's chances of making the playoffs.

My take is that Marietta is basically a one dimensional team offensively with their stud running back, #21. He broke a long run for a TD on the first play from scrimmage against Etowah, but after that Etowah was basically able to contain him. I haven't seen Harrison play yet, but I suspect if their defense shows up and plays containment, then Harrison actually has a good chance. Harrison looks (on paper) to be able to score offensively. Marietta will struggle to control the line of scrimmage.

Interesting takes of the playoffs I see so far...Here is what I see happening to effect the #4 Seed in Region 5A...EP may/should beat Kennesaw Mtn this week, then may/should beat Cherokee in the final game of the year at "THE BONEYARD"...this takes us to the no longer as meaningful last game of the year at Woodstock...

I really DO NOT see EP having a chance in that game, Woodstock is just too loaded this year...So I have EP finishing at 6/4 & 5/4 in the Region...

I don't see Harrison winning another game this year so they finish at 4/6 & 4/6 in the Region...

The only wildcard in that prediction is the Harrison / Marietta game which I know Harrison is counting on winning to end up tied with EP for the #4 seed and then they win the spot by virtue of beating EP last week...

whatever the outcome it is a mute point as neither team (EP or Harrison) has a snowballs chance against Grayson this year!!!

The other Paulding County game that should be fun/exciting this week is the
Hiram Hornets playing Hillgrove...that one should be a BARNBURNER!!!

whatever the outcome it is a mute point as neither team (EP or Harrison) has a snowballs chance against Grayson this year!!!

The other Paulding County game that should be fun/exciting this week is the
Hiram Hornets playing Hillgrove…that one should be a BARNBURNER!!!

What does it take for Putnam County to make the top 10 in AA?....6-1 right now....Only loss was to Jackson...top ten in AAA.....Game was tied 7-7 at half...Jackson scored twice in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter to win....

AVikingFan--- OH, do I remember that game... That was my senior year of high school and also Northside's first apperance at the Georgia Dome.... Those boys had no idea what it was like to play on a level like that... We were all soooo excited! See, I was a senior cheerleader and all of those players, (Jason Respert (Tennessee Volunteer), Torrey Howard (Valdosta State University), Kenny Parker (Florida Gator).... were my very close friends.. all agreed that it was the gateway that lead Northside to the program that it is now known for... Yes.... it was a tragedy that we lost such a great lead... but obviously Lowndes was a better coached team that year... Just as Northside is obviously a better coached team this year. =)

Pops, way to edit my comment to your satisfaction. haha.

And I like that Wildcat idea, wonder if Skogan has an arm. We'd have to come up with a cool nickname for it like Oregon did, how about Rabid Wolverine? haha. I really dont think we're going to loose btw, Just think it might be a little closer than it should be. haha

"Bufording" I like that! I don't know though AAAA might not be as easy to dominate now. A lot of great teams all around the state in that classification could pose a problem for the "mighty" eagles.

APS Football Fan - if the braintrust at APS hadn't waited until nearly summer to ask for quotes on the stadium renovation, then Grady Stadium would be complete and the Grey Knights could have the home game they deserve. And, APS wouldn't be renting the Dome for whatever that goes for ($40,000?).

Each region can break ties however it wants, but most use a system that uses head-to-head first, then record vs. teams in the classification in which they play.

re: Alcovy vs. Hillgrove: I can see either of those teams ranked, so we're splitting hairs, but Hillgrove has been more decisive in its victories. Both could easily be 7-0, but Alcovy had a couple of close calls in its wins.

Why does St Pius get on here and brag about winning? They are the largest private high school in the state, but they play in the 3rd largest division. Nothing to brag about if you ask me. You have students from all over metro Atlanta (yes, even as far south as Union City and Clayton Co), but you play against teams that have to play with what they have right around their backyard. What happened to the private schools having to play up? Does nobody else see the "leg up" they have? Someone on one of these blogs said that the Marist School plays up two classes. Is that true? How do they get to do that and the others have to play with their numbers? ALL of them should have to play up. When we played Pius, their team was HUGE (in numbers). If they had to play with just the people who live in their area, they would take talent from Lakeside and Chamblee....wow, what a powerhouse that would be LOL. Why don't they get or want to play up two classes? Winning up there would be somethin to brag about...

rwdekalbfan - I remember another great Northside team in 1999 that led Lowndes 28-3 at halftime in the Ga Dome (semi finals) and Lowndes came back and "Northside'ed" them 31-28 in the game known as the biggest Choke of All Time Game.

I understand that the SWD/Marist contest is a high stakes game, arguably the Region 6AAAA Championship, but look at the remaining schedule of SWD and that Tucker/ Stone Mountain game looks pretty important. What I'm saying is SWD could loose this game and end up the fourth seed in the Region because their last two games are against Tucker (6-1) and Stone Mountain (6-1). The Stone Mountain/Tucker game can be for the Region runnerup if the winning team wins out and SWD looses. Stephenson looks good and MLK will make the post season, but looks shaky as a playoff contender. I am so amazed on how talented Dekalb county is as a whole. Other counties are lucky that we are not allotted the same funds and facilities as Gwinnett, Cobb and Fulton. Otherwise you all would be in trouble.

eaglefor life - when you "head out for the WR vs Lowndes game", leave the house a little earlier than normal. It's in Valdosta at Martin Stadium. Come over to the Lowndes side before the game 'long side the interstate and visit our tail gate section. Beats going to a restaurant!

Todd Holcomb - I saw your article today naming the Georgians in the Ivy League. Where are the QB's from Roswell and NG who played in 2007? They were good high school QB's and I was just wondering where they are. Someone told me Tamburo from NG is at Boise State but wasn't certain.

I missed you ENR!! I'm glad that you are back!!

The Demons will definitely put it to Colquit and possibly to Lowndes... Now wouldn't that be entertaining?

I think I may just have to put on my old Demons sweat shirt that collects dust in my closet from 2004 and head out to the Lowndes/Demons game... =)

Also... The blog sure was a lot more enjoyable when the Lowndes fans were gone off crying and shameful... Now they are BACK... UGGGGHHHH! LOL.

Once again, NSWR has a pretty uneventful game this week... but next week... it is a SHOWDOWN AT THE MAC!! The BIG game..... LOOK out DEMONS... the EAGLES are READY!! =)

"I hate to say it but Woodstock is on upset alert against Cherokee." His quote by the way.
Also today's topic on GHFD, and probably the next blog here on the AJC, is this years upsets. Should be a lot of fun.

Am I mistaken or does Northside have only 2 titles. Why does ENR speak as if they have some sort of dynasty going on. Northside is a great team with a great program and a great coach but for all of ENR ramblings they only have 2 titles. Well it could have been 3 titles if they had not "Northsided" away that state title game against Statesboro a few years ago. Do you rembember that game title game ENR. You have to admit you really "Northsided" that game away and deprived the loyal Northside fans of a title that year.

Wolverine2Blazer, Oh man you are so right about the long trip. And good graciuos it was cold friday night. Skogan #20 yes he is a great player, think he had over 200 yards rushing in the first half. I was told friday that u do have another good back also, but that he was hurt? Your QB was not very tall but i do think he completed every pass he attempted.

Vikingproud, UGGGG! Thats a long trip huh? haha. I must disagree with you though. I think Woodstock stands a great chance agaist the r1 teams. We travel well, ask Norcross or Camden. (It was literally snowing at halftime of the Norcross game is why i point that game out). I also was at the Rock for Friday's game and I hate to tell yah but thats not our normal crowd. Skogan (the RB) is 20 btw.

I hate to say it but Woodstock is on upset alert against Cherokee. Well for the first half atleast. Our QB has been suspended for the first half because he was found with dip which is something that O'B strongly hates. I'm sure Skogan and Carmicheal will step it up though.

Decatur 4 Life you are right, I forgot about the one old Buck won in the 90s. Hmmmmmm! I suppose like McPherson that puts him a step ahead of old Tomberlin/Nix after all.

Northside will not win state this year and next year when they go back down to where they are most comfortable we will hear it all over again just like a few years ago.

"We won state in AAAA and we are the best team in all of Georgia".

I call it Bufording.

Wolverine Fan, I wasn't trying to tell you or your team anything. I was simply making a statement based on watching the Wolverines play. yall definately have a good team and some really good players. Number 45 is a hoss, and I believe that running back #21? if he gets free watch out he can fly. Over all though I ddon't believe Woodstock has the team speed of Colquit, NSWR, or Lowndes. O and the woodshed is awesome! I will also say I have never been to a football game anywhere in South Ga that was as laid back as at the woodstock game. Our games and fans are very intense!

GH - I think you are way off base for the Region 5 picks (my Etowah bias aside). Woodstock owns the tiebreaker against Harrison meaning Woodstock would have to crater in the last three games AND Harrison would have to win out knocking off McEachern and Etowah in the process for the #2 seed. Similarly, EP's chances of making the playoffs are slim even if they win out and beat Woodstock at the end... they lose every head-to-head tiebreaker with McEachern, Harrison, and Etowah.

OedipusTax ,

I agree with you. And I can explain as to why, but not right now. Yo, Reeze, Eagle Nation Rising, and AVIKING could tell you why. What I will say is that the citizens does not support thier schools like they should. I can say somethings about the Region 3-AAAAA school that I am a fan of. I am a fan of Bradwell Institute. They have a very young and in experienced team this year, and they were doing very well this until a total of twelve starters got injured in different games this thereby sending their win loss record into a frenzy. But i will defend them by saying that Bradwell Institute have proven themselves to be a good football team as well in addition to Camden County. It seems as if you have looked up and studied the regions. So I will recommend to you to go to Ga Football Historians beginning 1980 to the present. You will see what Schools Bradwell Institute have beaten over the years, to include Valdosta, Warner Robbins, Baldwin County, East Coweta, Newnan and etc. As a matter of fact, Bradwell Institute did beat Region 4-AAAAA East Coweta "AGAIN" in the first round of the playoffs last year. So there you have it. You have Bradwell Institute, Camden County, and then everybody else in Region 3-AAAAA.

In Region 3-AAA you also have Liberty County that is doing great as well, and position themselves for the number two seed for the post season. OedipusTax, what Region are you from, and what team?

shawn, OF COURSE Carver-Columbus should beat the Grangers. In fact they SHOULD beat any team in the state considering their recruiting base of 11,000-12,000 kids. Throw in the legendary homegrown officiating in Muscogee County which alone is worth at least 14 points, Carver-Col should be unbeatable in Columbus. Just ask the Northside WR fans about the talent and size of the Carver players, but also ask them about the Columbus, Ga officiating in 2008.Do you remember the once powerful Shaw Raiders coached by Charles Flowers? Where was Carver-Col during the great years of Shaw? Answer: NOWHERE. Years of mediocrity. Coach Flowers leaves. Coach McGee takes the job at Carver and abraca dabra, Carver is now "king of the hill". The Shaw Raiders for some reason no longer have a roster of any significance. On a neutral field along with impartial officiating, the 2009 Grangers would be my hands down pick to win the game in spite of the overwhelming talent base that is enjoyed by Carver. Enjoy your time as "king of the hill". A little bird told me "there is a new sheriff coming to town who will once again upset the status quo in Columbus, Ga. HS football". Truth is, if my team had to win at the expense of shamefully recruiting players from outside of their respective districts,I would find it difficult to enjoy the wins.

Oedipus Tax - region 3-AAAAA is weak because Camden is the only bonafide Class AAAAA team in the region, based on student enrollment. Most of the Savannah schools are AAA in enrollment.

But remember, football is not the only sport played. GHSA rules prevent a team from traveling more than 100 miles on a school night. (Basketball, wrestling, softball, tennis, golf, baseball, soccer, etc.) Therefore those schools play "UP" in AAAAA because of travel time. It's kinda not a good situation for Camden either because often their football team is not in "4 quarter game condition" when the playoffs roll around, because of substituting to prevent running up the score any more than they do. Their coach has really worked on that the past couple of years.

GH - Harrison finishing number 2 might be a stretch. And I don't see Valdosta leaping over Colquitt in a two way tie because Colquitt won their head to head game. However if WARNER ROBINS, COLQUITT, AND VALDOSTA end up in a three way tie, points allowed among those three teams breaks the tie. Valdosta didn't give up many when they played WR and Colquitt, so that they could well place 3rd.

Roswell is ranked 10th in the ga.prepcountry.com.

Camden County, however, is legitimate, and can obviously beat anybody in the State on any given day. They have proven that over and over again. Yes, two losses, but very narrow ones, and against the very best. They could be our State Champion again, easily, in AAAAA.

However, 3-AAAAA is a complete and total disaster. Something wrong with the water down there? The region is 5-19 against non region opponents this year, and not a single victory is against another in-state AAAAA school. Discounting Camden's quality win against a Florida team, the region's four outside-of-the-region victories are against teams with a combined record of 7-22. I doubt a more mediocre performance disgraces the history of Georgia High School football.

Thus, Camden also has to overcome a huge handicap, which might be the equivalent of North Gwinnett having to play Meadowcreek for seven games in a row prior to the playoffs. Keep in mind how Camden can't get ready to play anybody good when they can't play anybody good in their region.

GH: I would not pencil in Norcross as #4 seed in Region 7 yet. North Forsyth has the tiebreaker over Norcross. Norcross still has Peachtree Ridge & Collins Hill left while North Forsyth has North Gwinnett to still play. Ditto for Parkview in Region 8 #4 seed. Dacula has the tiebreaker & an easier schedule. Both schools play Brookwood. In addition, Parkview has Shiloh left & Dacula has Berkmar & Meadowcreek left.

Greetings AVIKINGFAN,

Thanks for your comment. Bradwell is in a must win situation if they are planning to make the playoffs. I am quite disappointed in the way Bradwell had been playing. Although they have a very young and inexperienced team this year in addition to 12 starters being injured, I still believe that they could have run the table on the Savannah Teams. Losing to them are very unacceptable.

However; better watch out though, Region 3-AAA Liberty County is definitely on a roll. They are playing with heart, poise and a lot of confidence. They have beaten at least two ranked teams on their schedule this year with only two losses against Region 2-AAAA Glynn Academy in OT and Number 5 Ranked Region 3-AAA Washington County in a very close game as well. They have beaten Burke County in a stunning upset at Burke County in the Bears Den. This week, they play Baldwin County at home in which a lot of eyes will be watching. Baldwin County is not new to the area as Bradwell Institute use to beat them when they played them. It will be a good game I am sure if Liberty County wins, and by chance Washington County lose before the regular season is over, I believe that Liberty County may win the Region, and then become the number one seed in the playoffs from their Region. If not, then Liberty County will be the number 2 seed.

C Dog,

That is true, and if you really believe that? Your feelings will be hurt. Example. Region 3-AAAAA Camden County plays in a so called weak Region, yet they won the State last year beating everyone they came in contact with. They Beat Region Northside Warner Robbins, They beat Region 4 Newnan, They Beat Region 5 Woodstock, and they beat Region 7 Peachtree Ridge. So what you are saying in not accurate.

The SWD team that beat WR in the dome was a great team. Godfrey did, and still does a really good job with his players. There are great teams in all classifications. A couple of years ago, posters said that Northside had to prove themselves by winning in the highest classification. They're doing it with far fewer students than most AAAAA schools. I'd even argue that the the 2008 and 2009 aren't the best teams of recent years.

Woodstock is deserving of its #10 ranking in the AAAAA poll. Look at what their defense is doing to teams in Region 5-AAAAA. Take away the McEachern loss in OT and the defense is giving up less than 5 points per game and already has 3 shutouts this season. The offense is finally clicking and has come together at the right time. The wolverines sent a message late last season and into the playoffs that said they are rising and Coach O'Brien has this team heading in an upward direction that promises something great in the coming future. Congrats Woodstock!

Hey Grady!
You've got a good team, one that Pius respects. I don't know if the Shirt should be calling out the whole state, though. Neither Grady nor Pius have faced many real tests this year so it's a little early to be calling for the trophy.
We're planning on bringing our A game and hope you will, too. We'd like to know more about how we stack up.
Pray for no injuries, good officiating, and a good ballgame. See you at the Dome.
(By the way, is the APS trying to pay for your whole stadium upgrade out of one day's gate receipts? $10-$12 tickets?)

Todd, I would like to thank you for recognizing that Wilcox has a very good team this year. Unfortunately, we were hit with some major injuries that reflected in our two losses. However , we have had some wonderful talent being displayed by some of our younger players. We will stand behind our team!!!!! You should keep Wilcox on your radar for the playoffs this year as well as the next couple of seasons! Go Patriots!!!!

What are you talking about? Buck Godfrey has a state championship and they went through Warner Robins to do so in the dome. The question is will Northside win one now that they're in AAAAA.

EagleNationRising

What's with all the Buck Godfrey bashing. There are quite a few teams in every classification that have talent and haven't won anything. He has. Who cares if it was in the mid 90's, they won and went thru middle and south GA to do so in the highest class. There's always a coach to blame for lack of success in the playoffs. You talk about him and his teams but they beat up on teams all over the state of GA, with good talent or no talent.

ENR, I was wondering where you'd gone. You were missing for a couple of days. Glad you're back. I haven't had a chance to see the Demons play this year. I hope they perform as well as you think they can. I love them, but I'll just have to wait and see. I'll be at the game against Northside, and maybe Lowndes if I can get my brothers or nephews to make the trip.

YO - actually Woodstock is the team from region 5 I would least want to face on the road. I don't think McEachern will survive the 2nd round. But Woodstock will be Northside's problem, unless Colquitt can perform a miracle and beat NSWR by 10, which would make Lowndes the region Champ.

When Carver(Col) runs all over Lagrange this Friday maybe they will move up in the rankings. The one loss Carver has was vs #2 NWR who is two classes above Carver. I dont think any team ranked above them would have given NWR a better game. Hell last year NWR knows they were very lucky to walk out of Memorial Stadium with a win. Rank Carver #1 again when they blow out the Grangers!

Rankings mean very little in high school football since there is a playoff system. If a team has a weak schedule and an inflated record as a result, that will only hurt them come playoff time since they will have not faced any challenging competition prior to the playoffs.

It seems that Lassiter deserves serious consideration given that they are unbeaten, and given that they set a new Georgia record for total passing yards in a game. That sort of passing attack will probably give fits to some of the teams listed in your Top 10. They will be much more credible if they beat Roswell, but the program already deserves some attention.

ENR while I don't douby Warner beating Colquit in Colquit is a possibility, I have seen Colquit play and 28 isn't going to happen for Warner unless Colquit keeps turning the ball over inside their 10 yard line.

Having said this I am liking the Northside/Warner matchup more and more.
Going to be interesting to see how Northside moves the ball on Warners defense.

Did you ever follow my suggesttion and talk to your old friend Buck Godfrey and suggest that he might consider doing a Tomberlin/Nix and work on going down a classification so he can win his first championship? It worked for Tomberlin/Nix!!!

Warner Robins 28, Colquitt County 7. You heard it from me. The Big Red takes the football in Moultrie and effectively run it down the throats of the Packers. Colquitt posters and Rush Propst will have a myriad of excuses. The bottom line is Warner Robins is better than Valdosta and Colquitt County. They will show it Friday night in Moultrie.

AVikingFan: Thank you for the information about the tiebreaker. I really appreciate it.

As for Lowndes County playing in the Georgia Dome, that is a neutral site. You are very stubborn on this. Lowndes County usually loses on the road against top tier teams, particularly in the regular season. It is more than just Northside.

I can only go by what I have seen with my own eyes. I saw Lowndes County lose at McConnell-Talbert in 1997. Lowndes County had a SUPERIOR team. I saw Lowndes County lose at Grayson in the playoffs. Northside had lost the previous week at Camden County. I was certain that Lowndes was one of the best team ever assembled. The Vikings lost. I saw Lowndes bring, yet another, superior team to the MAC this season. Same result. I told this entire board that Lowndes was suspect and provided ample evidence to support my claims. We all saw it. We all saw Lowndes fold.

Warner Robins is going to beat Colquitt County. Watch! It will not be an upset. Warner Robins and Colquitt are both 3-1 in the region. Warner Robins has played at the #1 team in the state and natioonally ranked Grayson. They are prepared for Colquitt. Scheduling matters. Colquitt could not even compete against Lowndes. Warner Robins will beat Colquitt and compete/maybe beat Northside and/or Lowndes County.

Again, thanks for the tiebreaker information.

FootballFan: Because we still have to play Dacula, South Gwinnett, and Parkview. South only has to play Shiloh and Berkmar. Parkview only has to play Shiloh and Dacula only has to play Berkmar and Meadowcreek. Easy wins for them, tough competetion for us.

AvikingFan:

Northside 16, Valdosta 13
Northside 10, Lowndes County 7 (Northside playing without their only All-State player on their roster)
Lowndes County 55, Valdosta 17

What does a score from a previous week have to do with another Friday night? Some teams do not match up well with others. What's your point? If we used your flawed logic, we would assume that Lowndes County would put up 35 on Northside simply because Valdosta put up 13 points and were in the Red Zone four times. One week does not translate into another week. Lowndes County rarely matches up well against top tier competition when they play on the road. Therefore, you can throw their games at Martin Stadium out the window.

Warner Robins is more physical than Valdosta. Warner Robins runs the ball MUCH better than Valdosta. The last strong running team that Colquitt faced was Lowndes County. Lowndes HAMMERED Colquitt County. Warner Robins will do the same.

ENR, it's hard to argue with your reasoning. When we went on the road in 07 and beat camden 10-0 we should have won by 28. When we played Stephenson in the dome in 05 and won 14-0, it should have been 40-0. We were too tight and not just relaxed and having fun. I've heard it said the two trips to Camden in 03 were the same problem. We did however beat a very good Parkview team at the Big Orange Jungle for the title in 04. And we beat another good Camden team 30-0 on the road in 04. And I've got a wierd feeling that somethings different now, and this Lowndes team will go far in the playoffs. I guess we'll see in round two, unless of course, Colquitt beats NSWR by ten which puts Lowndes in 1st place.

ENR in our region, a three way tie is settled by the total points allowed with the three teams involved in their regular season games with each other. For instance, Lowndes gave up 6 to Colquitt and 10 to NSWR. If we ended in a three way tie with NSWR and Colquitt, the score in the Colquitt vs NSWR game would decide the region champion.

AVikingFan: I stand by my aforementioned statement. Lowndes County will not beat Northside at McConnell-Talbert Stadium. If you are perfectly honest, you know that Lowndes County has brought two straight superior teams to the MAC to face the Eagles. Nonethless, both Lowndes County teams and two different Viking coaches have "Southwest DeKalbed" away what should have been easy wins.

Lowndes County are quickly becoming the Kings of Underachievement. With losses to an inferior Grayson team last season and to a team of sophomores and juniors at Northside, Randy McPherson is about to become the first back-to-back winner of the Buck Godfrey Award. Losing at Grayson and at the MAC against Northside is a case study in doing less with more.

I know those National Championship hopes are falling hard. That what Northside Eagles do to unprepared programs. Watch the PBS telecast. Even the analyst highlights how Randy McPherson and his Lowndes County staff were UNPREPARED for the moment.

Northside-Warner Robins 6, Lowndes County 2. These are the facts.

ENR, Valdosta beat Warner Robins at the MAC. Colquitt beat Valdosta at Valdosta. What do you know that we don't know about why Warner Robins is a 21 point favorite over Colquitt? Tell you what my friend, when all of us bloggers meet in the lobby of the Omni Hotel the day of the state championship game, if Warner robins doesn't beat Colquitt by 21 you buy us all a round of our favorite. If Warner Robins covers the spread, I'll buy. Deal?

I may be wrong but if I had to make a guess at 8-AAAAA number 2 I would say South Gwinnett. They have already beaten Dacula and Parkview, so how is Brookwoods schedule any harder?
