As it is shaping up Woodstocks side of the bracket would have Peachtree ridge and Northside Warner Robins…. Thats a bracket that could just as easily win as any of the other brackets. And if Ridge and Woodstock both win there first playoff game ( in all likelyhood they will) then there will be an excellent game shaping up. Then warner robins (in all likelyhood will win too) would have to face the winner of Ridge and Woodstock.

“even tho the right side of the bracket is horribly weak”. there is some powerhouses in this quarter of the bracket not sure about the bottom side, but this is a braket that could win the whole thing and it would not be a suprise. I will give it to Grayson they are a damn good team, this isnt a bashing of then because i have respect for a team that wins and does it consistently

Please Believe some second string players played it could have been worst. But that how we do it at Stephenson there is enough for eveybody to get some. Then they say he wasn’t 100% running the ball. HELL STEPHENSON running backs aren’t 100% either. We are bang up with injuries but we don’t make a issue about it. Like I said though the way this team is playing this year I think we can compete with any team in AAAA but I guess we will find out Oct. 30th at the Jackets Nest when Westside Macon comes to town which is ranked number 2 in the state in AAAA.

Alright Stephensen and MLK have played now and Stephensen won. As someone who supports Dekalb football I hope these 2 teams will use this game as a reality check. If these 2 teams really want to go deep in the playoffs they need to look hard in the mirror at themselves and the way they played and both teams if truly serious about trying to win a state title will bust their rear ends to work on getting much better on the glaring weaknesses when playing a team of comparable ability. Too many mistakes, missed tackles, penalties to win against the best teams in AAAAA. Stephensen is getting closer to where they need to be but still a lot of work to do to beat the best. MLK way too many missed tackles, and the offensive line struggled against a good Stephensen defense. You have to come up with a well thought out game plan to compensate for this. Mack Brown would have had 200 plus yds had he been running behind Stephensens line. Come on guys you can do it. Dekalb fans will be there to support you.

TCC Highschool Jackets: How many students does TCC have? I’ve heard 1900 this October will put a school in AAAAA for the next 4 years. I’d like to see TCC move up. They used to be very competitive with Lowndes and Valdosta, and you know they always play Moultrie tough. We’ve made good pre-season “partners” for a long time. Where has JAYBO been this year?

GAIL, do not even respond to DA LAKE. They are just upset because they did all of that trash talking and could not back it up. All we heard for weeks was how Newnan had not seen the size, speed and talent on one field that Westlake would bring. It was ok for them to run off at the mouth proclaiming a win over Newnan by 2 touchdowns. Keep in mind that NO ONE from Newnan said a word. Now that WE want to talk they want us to hush. It’s quite hilarious to me!

And to DA LAKE: If you let 2 players (i.e. the Ogletree twins) beat all that D1 “talent” on your team, then maybe Westlake need to reevaluate their program.

Hey JAYBO. We are an interception away from being undefeated this year. The real test of the season will be in 2 weeks when Westside Macon comes to town. They beat us last year 51-0 the worst lost in school history but the team we have this year is better than last years and I believe could take us deep in the playoffs if the defense keeps playing the way they have. Adam Choice is going to be the next Charlie Ward if not better. I believe he will be the best Athlete to come through the school and he has not lost a game in 3 years because he started in the 6th grade. Future looks good in Thomas County unless we get moved to AAAAA because we won’t be able to compete with any of the teams but there is talk about us going up or down one classification

Im not a Westlake football fan I just go to the school you are overrated accept it. keep beating the easy teams in this region because as soon as you get to the playoff you will be exposed. The Ogletree twins is all you have, the other players are spectators honestly the twins did everything against Westlake. Plus my class (’09) was the first to go through Coach O’B’s great farm system starting in middle school and you see how we did. Coach O’B has brought Woodstock from being the slum of AAAAA to a contender in the region.

BullDawg Bite: East Paulding overhypes their program more than anybody deserves to. 3 years ago you had never heard of them. Then they make it to the Dome and here we go. I don’t even think they will be a AAAAA team in a few years because of all the growth in Paulding starting to spread some. Eventually Paulding will resemble Henry in football hiearchy with teams having great years and then coming back down to earth.

SOUTHGARULES, THe coach has lost the team, just like last year leading Banneker 14-0 with 7 mins left and lose. This just mean MAYS will have there 9th head coach of this decade. Hopefully,
we will do real search this time around. Get a coach from south Ga. again, sad but true(AA) one from the south who will never get a chance to be head coach. Also, APS got stop bigoted maybe it time to bring in fresh Blanco faces. Who actually care about player, not the GA dome. Look at FSU player with 2nd grade reading level, how many of those player are from south Ga. Mays may have some emontional player(judgement durimg game) but there are no learning disabilities like that. That why you will see very few Blanco coaches in APS, we feel like they don’t care about the student.

It’s simple but read my post I said “I reserve judgement until I SEE Woodstock” BUT what I said was The #4 seed draws POWERHOUSE Grayson and baring a fluke / mistake filled game or a miracle for ANY Region 5A team its one (game) and done!!!

Simple as that…It’s obvious that if EAST ends up as the #4 seed (which is in doubt now) that they can’t handle Grayson!!! I am sure you will say Woodstock can but that’s all I was commenting on or about…Last year Region 5A did OK in Round 1, this year?????

My “Wait till next year” was meant for many of us in 5A this year…

Newnan Fans westlake lost because their offense is sorry Newnan is overrated. Westlakes offense is horrible and they moved the ball on you guys the only real score was the long hail mary to your rec.and the other two were set up by the sorry offense throwing 2 interceptions. The brothers are the only true talent you have. Lets see what happens when they leave. Newnan strggled with Westlakes Defense you guys wont make it past the 1st round. Not sure what happened in Friday’s night game against the Jags but to me it appeared that MLK was not sure of themselves and they acted as if they were intimated by Stephenson. Two things, the players’ performed sloppily on both the Offense and Defense; I have never seen them unable to hold onto the ball and the fumbling of the ball so close to the end zone was just hard to watch. This defense really needs to learn to STICK a runner on the FIRST HIT and stop allowing them to slip through their fingers; BUT more dissapointing was the coaching! Even I, a mom, knows when your team is 3 and 20 you don’t continue a running game UP THE MIDDLE. Coach Jarvis put all of this team’s hope on #33, Mack Brown, to a fault; taking nothing from Mack, everyone knew the Jags would have him in their sights in order to stop his running game. Coach Jarvis, Mack Brown and everyone else need stay out of the paper and focus on the game at hand. I sincerely hope that Mack learned a valuable lesson this week; don’t make any guarantees which you are not able to back up…Coach Jarvis and the other coaches need to update your playbook so that you can have at your disposal at variety of plays; the same goes for the MLK Band….it appeared that it was Stephenson’s homecoming instead of MLK…please update your music to include more upbeat, crowd pleasing songs!

I’m an MLK fan to the end, and will be there next week cheering my team on!

By the way THOMAS COUNTY CENTRAL is 6-1 as we beat Harris co. last night 33-7! Hey, but I’m still not too excited. We are a young football team with only 3 senior starters on offense and 4 seniors on defense. Yes, we will make the playoffs, but I dont expect us 2 go that deep especially when we face more experienced teams. But TCC’s future looks bright…the 8th grade team will play 4 the championship next week and they havn’t lost a game in 2 years!!! Adam Choice will be at the high school next year, along with his posse…wow!!!

decatur where it is greater – I gave you all the props you deserve….but if you think that Stephenson or any other team can go deep into the playoffs with 3 lossed fumbles in a game and 2 giving up good field position then you are just a blind rooter…if they don’t make mistakes they are a super fast and strong team…I have no intentions of bad mouthing SHS but in football somethings just hold don’t happen without consequences somewhere down the line. After losing to Newnan 43-0 last year IN THE RAIN, you guys come on the blog and have the audacity to proclaim a win over Newnan by two touchdowns and you couldn’t even put a field goal up on the scoreboard! All that “talent” you have and you couldn’t even score? All that “talent” couldn’t even stop Newnan from scoring. Marist looked very impressive on Friday, albeit against a week Miller Grove team. Marist led 44-0 early in the 3d Quarter before calling off the dogs. Next week’s game against Southwest DeKalb should be a great one. Two excellent teams that are playing great ball right now.

Actually I still think the Region ends up like I posted weeks ago…Harrison is going to go 1/2 losing to McEachern & Woodstock while beating Marietta…EAST will go 2/1 beating Kennesaw Mtn & Cherokee and losing to Woodstock…

Then the #4 Seed STILL has to play Grayson and it’s ONE AND DONE and wait till next year!…I don’t see ANY Region 5A team strong enough to beat Grayson…(I reserve judgement on Woodstock until EAST plays them but it doesn’t look like they draw Grayson anyway)

It is a shame that we hold our players to “great expectations” but we forget these are just 17 and 18 yr olds. MLK got beat tonight pretty good but I dnt think you should count them out just yet! For a running back to have 100 yds rushing and still have a “slow” performance, must be a great athlete! Stephenson congrats on your victory!!….as far as Union Grove “almost” losing to Luella does not matter…If live in henry county, you would understand that these schools are heated rivals and I believe you could have stuck a 9th grade team against the varsity team and they would still give a good fight!!….dnt sleep on region 2-AAAAA!

Union Grove almost lost to Luella, Truth. Only a late score got them a win. It is hard to believe this Union Grove team will offer much competition to Stephenson.

Jimmy Chupp was an awesome coach but I suspect he left on his own terms for his own reasons. He was the sort of coach who made mediocre players good, and good players great.

I don’t understand MLK’s offensive game plan. I only recall one toss sweep to Mack Brown the entire game. All of his other runs were dives between the tackles right into the strength of the Jags D-line featuring Michael Thornton who was consistently pushing two offensive of lineman into the backfield. MLK was not going to overpower Stephenson, so why continue to force the ball through the middle.

If I am Mack Brown, I would still hold my head high considering I went against one of the top defenses if not the best defense in the state and still managed to break the 100 yard rushing mark. According to all of the headlines, Mack Brown was neutralized, contained, or limited. I guess you must be a real good back if rushing for over 100 yards is considered being neutralized.

Yeah, MLK got their behinds waxed. Do not count them out just yet. Sometimes you need that wake up call. They now know what they need to do to be playoff ready.

Re: Coach Chupp, yes I think he did. He is AD at Mountain View, a first year school in Gwinnett.
How does Region 5 shape up now after tonights action? I know McEachern is in the drivers seat for the #1 seed, but do not know about the other 3 seeds.

Hey To Tell The Truth, someone forgot to tell Luella that Union Grove was undefeated. Man what an ugly game. I don’t know if UG was looking ahead, it was cold, there was a full moon or Luella is grossly underrated. Stephenson is going to kill us next week. I saw where K announced earlier in the blog that MLK finishes 2nd in the region with tonight’s loss. That would drop us to 3rd but hold up; Newton could very well beat us too. I really hope that we were just looking ahead and that is what happened to us tonight. I thought we might get our first loss tonight. Thankfully we pulled it out, but that is what good teams do, right

Congrats to Stephenson, the Region 2-AAAAA champs & to Avondale who beat GAC. Since Jimmy Chupp left GAC, they are 4-14. ENR is probably taking it easy since NSWR played Open Date.
BROOKWOOD MOM: I hate to tell you this, but if your Broncos play like this the rest of the way, they will not win another game. I hope the coaches impress upon the players they are in playoff mode RIGHT NOW.

Harrison played like a Hoya team should. I must admit that East Paulding not making a single 1st domn in the first half was shocking! They are a better team than that! It reminded me of how Harrison came out against Kennesaw Mtn….UGLY!! Excellent second half by East. Just too little, too late. Harrison 4-0 on the road, 0-3 at home!! Go figure!! We are at McEachern next week. I sure hope the trend lasts one more week!!

Etowah gets it done… not pretty though. 21-14. Marietta’s #21 (boy is he fast) broke for a TD 65+ yards first play from scrimmage. Bam, 7-0 down in less than 10 seconds. Etowah rallied scored on next possession and controlled the line of scrimmage but couldn’t score in red zone. Three missed FGs. 21-7 late, then let Marietta score with 45 seconds to go.
