Guess Grayson will be off the radar the rest of the regular season discussions. They do not play a team with a winning record the rest of the year until playoffs. I hear they have been struck with the injury bug so it is probably a good thing they get some players players healthy again.

Big games this week between MLK and Stephenson. Best coached team wins it. Coaching I think MLK has upper hand.

Collins Hill the real deal or winning off the legs of their running back? We find out this week. I think P. Rodge is better all around team and will win it.

Parview versus South Gwinnett would have been a really tough game but Grayson knocked the QB for Parview out for regular season it is no match. South Gwinnett will win this game. Parkview was looking like the first or second seed, now they may not make the playoffs.

Where is the AJC state rankings? I have been hearing a lot of local Gwinnett chatter and seeing in the local paper that Grayson is pretty beat up and may be limping into playoffs. Not sounding like #1 ranked team in state to me but still top 5 and a threat to go deep. Time will tell.

The next two weeks will determine the Decatur’s playoff possibilities. I think that the defense will contain Abernathey. I am concerned about the Decatur offense. It will be a shootout for epic proportions. Bulldogs on the upset hunt if the Wildcats take them lightly. It is the first Bulldog home game in 4 weeks and 5 if you count the bye. After Friday’s humiliation of the Hoyas, East will just about have a playoff spot locked up. I’m sure the list of schools that have made the playoffs every year in AAAAA is pretty short, but we do belong on that list. Those much larger schools like Harrison K Mount and N Cobb are starting to get used to losing to the smallest school in the region year after year. And we like Hiram. Anyone in Paulding is okay with us, especially if they aren’t in AAAAA.

31…

You obviously DO NOT know Paulding County fans…or EAST fans!!! EAST is the ONLY Paulding County school that competes at the AAAAA level. Hiram, South Paulding, North Paulding & Paulding County all play at the AAAA level.

SO it’s great that HIram is having such a year as they are this year…if Hiram gets by Sprayberry this week and baring a total MELTDOWN by Hillgrove against Osborne next weeks game between Hiram & Hillgrove should be something to see as the winner should have the lock on their Region…

Talk to people around the county and most will tell you they pull for BOTH teams as they represent our county so well!!! Many of us were in the same boat…I had a son go to Hiram (and play for them) but my daughter graduated from East Paulding!

So it’s fine to say GO RAIDERS!!! AND HORNETS!!!!!

P ridge has historically been much better later in the season than st the start. remember last year when we started out 0-2 (lost to harrisson and lowndes) and ended up beating top 10 nationally-ranked grayson in semi’s and went to state championship? and in ‘06 we lost 2 early games and also ended up in the championship?

wolverine fan, etowah came into the boneyard and got they’re undefeated streak ended last year, the series is tied 1-1. just shut up. EP will beat Harrison tomorrow at the boneyard. EP is the most consistent team in 5 AAAAA. They have constantly been near the top of the region. Cherokee is an embarrassment to the region. They need to go back to AAAA and stop pretending. They got embarrassed on television by EP my senior year when EP made the number 2 play on SPORTSCENTER’S TOP 10. McEachern is on a one season streak, they’ll be back to the same losing indians soon. Etowah and EP are the two teams of this region that will always be constantly fighting at the top. The other teams just kind of come and go every now and then. Again, Harrison will lose tomorrow night at the boneyard against East.

cmon now ptree ridge definately does not suck. they are probably a top 8 team in ga. they have talent as well. they were ranked #7 in the nation in the preseason for a reason people. after they lose to NG in the region 7 finale they can still make a playoff run. nobody likes to play this team in the playoffs. kind of like lowndes or camden. they elevate their game in the playoffs for some reason. the lowndes loss should be written off as a bad game. really just a bad 1st quarter. and North Ga is gonna win state this year.

It’s good for GA that MLK & Stephenson will be on TV. However, I hope a close up of the field is not shown. Halliford has about the worst artifical turf I have ever run on. (The old turf at Lakewood was worst.) Halliford’s turf is coming apart at the seams leaving gaps. Those gaps also present places where palyers can easily trip. Why they did not insist on the same turf that the Fulton Co schools, McEachern and a host of other places have is beyond me. Again, DeKalb only went halfway.

TJ: You are right about Grayson. Champaign tore his ACL in the Brookwood game & is done. The TE is going to try to play with a brace on his injured knee.
I guess Collins Hill should not even bother to show up against the Ridge tomorrow night. Just keep thinking that Perkins is their only weapon. They are more than a 1 trick pony. The D is a bigger concern for Collins Hill. Don’t be surprised is Collins Hill is able to keep it close & maybe steal it in the 4th qtr.

just peeking at a bracket for AAAAA looks like the left side of the brackett may get loaded so far looks like Camden, Lowndes in the upper left bracket Newnan, Grayson in the bottom left… maybe North Gwinnett and NSWR on the other side may be a little lighter come playoffs

10:43 pm

Wolverine2Blazer – here is my guess on a 3-way tiebreaker for the 2-4 seeds in R5-AAAAA… if you assume that Etowah, Woodstock, and EP win out except for the last game and EP beats Woodstock, then all of the head-to-head tiebreakers since we all beat each other and we all lost to McEachern so our region records will all be the same. We all play everyone within the region, so you would have to look at outside of region play. Here is where I think Woodstock gets the nod for the # 2 seed since you guys beat Kell (R6-AAAAA), a team with in the same classification. Both Etowah and EP beat Starr’s Mill and Rome respectively which are both AAAA teams in a lower classification… leaving Etowah tied with EP for the #3 seed, but Etowah gets the #3 seed in a head-to-head tiebreaker with EP. EP would then take the #4 seed by default.

October 15th, 2009
10:58 pm

Wolverine2Blazer – here is my guess for the R5-AAAAA tiebreaker assuming Etowah, Woodstock, and EP all win out except for EP beating Woodstock at the end, then we have a 3-way tie for second. Head-to-Head and Region Play are all the same since we beat each other and all lost to McEachern.

The next element has to be out-of-region play. If so, Woodstock gets the #2 seed since you beat Kell (AAAAA team) for your only out-of-region game. Etowah and EP beat Starr’s Mill and Rome respectively (both AAAA teams) in a lower classification. Etowah takes the #3 seed since we beat EP. EP is left with the #4 seed.

Just my guess.

They have seen EP step up to AAAAA, then they saw EP WIN in AAAAA, then they saw EP make the playoffs!!! in it’s 1st year of AAAAA, then they saw EP WIN in the playoffs and then actually GO TO Grayson and actually SCORE 1st and give Grayson (the team that beat mighty Lowndes) all they wanted before finally getting beat by a VERY good Grayson squad…

…and they saw this all happen with our stands FULL of proud, cheering RAIDER fans that supported our team all year long…!!!

AAAAA is tough and full of strong teams, no one is going to win them all but it sure is fun to watch!!! This is a hard pill to swallow for many of the schools that EP plays where the home stands have no one in them but a few parents and the band…

This WILL NOT happen when EAST plays Woodstock in a few weeks, I look for BOTH sides to be rockin’…that should be a good game!!!

GO RAIDERS!!!

31…

Sorry…My mistake, you are correct Hiram plays Osborne and Hillgrove plays Sprayberry this week…Thanks for catchin’ that!

Your other post about EAST moving DOWN to AAAA is totally wrong…1st it’s not up to the COUNTY AD to make that call (I checked with the school board) and the EAST student population is projected to INCREASE next year so they will have more than the required #’s to remain competitive at this level.

One note: We both agree on one thing A Hiram / EAST rivalry game would be fun…I bet we could fill either stadium for that game!!! If you remember EAST played Paulding County EVERY year until last year when the Paulding County coach & principal refused to play the game anymore…

Hey Cannon – At leats my Cherokee comment generated a response, and you are correct. They are toast after this week. They also have not been mentioned on the blog in years. Just fun to think they may have as good a record as Harrison, if you beat the Hoya’s tonight.

Panola Road’s Finest, you know your game is the biggest in the State tonight. I know it will be a good game and I would LOVE to come watch it but we have a huge game tonight with Luella. We are hoping that Stephenson will still be sore next week when we have to play them. Good luck to you guys!

the cannon rules… are u kidding me? yes yall scored first but to say you gave us all we wanted is false… coaches made adjustments and yall didnt come close to scoring again the whole game haha i find it laughable that you are defending you 2010 team by the way the 2009 team played even tho the seniors are gone. wow if anything i think that game was a wake up call for grayson, that was the first time all season grayson had trailed so think about what you say before you say it next time
