Hello AJC how about those Stephenson Jaguars. They took care of business as usual tonight. Beating Redan 41 to 6. I’m waiting to see certain defensive players get their proper recognition. But as a team they are a team to be recogned with. Congratulations Jaguars defense and offense. This is a full package. Stephenson does not rely on one or two key players they are a team of 90.

Fred: I was very impressed as well how both teams can together. I even witnessed a few hugs. Grayson definitely showed better sportsmanship this year than they did last year. We lost but we did a great job and I am proud.
SouthGaRules: We play Central next week, then Dacula is our homecoming and we play South at South on October 30th. Then Parkview is the last game is the season. Senior night! I will balling like a baby! I can’t believe how fast these four years have gone.

I was wondering if there had been a more lopsided Winnersville Classic, and I guess there hasn’t. Lowndes looked a lot better this week than last week. I guess Northside and Lowndes are pretty evenly matched. At any rate, I’m interested in seeing which teams come out of 1AAAAA.

To ENR, whoever you are, real or the fake one. You post that the Northside team is full of 14 and 15 year olds but your “Official Northside High Websites’ Roster” lists more senoirs than any underclassmen.I am assuming you do not have 14 year old Senoirs so just what are you trying to say?Maybe you have sophmores that will be too old to play next year!

Eagle Nation Rising, I believe you owe an explanation to all of us amatuers about the UPSET ALERT at the Concrete Palace. Lowndes owned Valdosta tonight and they have for the last five years. 57-15 and the last touchdown was scored by Valdosta first string against Lowndes Sophmores and Freshmen. Lowndes almost scored again in the final seconds, but let clock run out. Northside should be thanking their lucky stars that the Lowndes team that played tonight did not play you all last week. Remember that 4 more yards last week and Northside loses. Northside still has yet to win State Championship at highest level and it won’t be this year either.

I know Graysons big lineman #94 made several good stops on running plays. Brookwoods tailback will see him in his sleep tonight. But i was really impressed with Brookwoods offensive lineman that was pass protecting against #94, He didn’t let him anywhere near the QB or even into the backfield at all.

Gotta say I’m proud of my Griffin Bears. They played a tough North Clayton team on the road and came out victorious. The score would have been much worse if not for 3 costly mistakes from Marcus Waller. But you know what? He got the job done and led Griffin to victory. Everyone is bound to have an off night, especially when you are playing a top team like NC. Good luck Eagles the rest of the way and we’ll see you again, I’m sure.

The Lowndes – Valdosta score comes to no surprise to me, It usually happens when a better team faces a cross town rival after the better team has lost the week before. Valdosta was hoping for Lowndes let down where Lowndes was out looking for revenge I am just shocked that the score was as close as it was. I was expected a 70 to 0 rout.
As for NSWR I am a old fan, I played there in the 70’s and know what real football is like. If the kids from NSWR are only 9th 10th and 11th graders all I can say is watch out next year.
And for those who don’t know the name for Warner Robins was ” Choked City” until 77. As for Coach Nix, or any team from WR, including the Demons if they are any where close to a match to you they will beat you and if they are stronger they will destroy you.
I saw awhile back that some were shocked at a 77 -0 game. I remember a 90 to 0 game and Davis(WRHS) pulled back, he had 4th string defensive lineman playing running back.
But the reason we from NSWR,WRHS, Valdosta and Lowndes talk about the pass so much because when you think of teams from Georgia through the ages those are the ones that keep coming to the top especially Valdosta, Yes there have been others Parkwood of the 90’s and 00’s but they are always compare to the 4 with WRHS and Valdosta being the two that lead the pack.
Coach Wright Bazemore, Coach Robert Davis, Coach Conrad Nix were coaches you knew that if you faced you were in for a tough time Sorry Lowndes cannot really think of a legendary Coach from your school but I am sure their is one.
The old saying from Warner Robins is that we just don’t hit you, we run through you. And when wondering what high school one plays or is going to play for in Lowndes County . All you have to do is ask where is the school and depending on which way they point, you’ll have your answer.

What the heck is up with Camden 76, Groves 0.
It is hard to respect a program that does that even if they had some frustrations this season.
I am sure those Groves players and coaches are working hard to do their best. Good grief. Camden coaches should be drug before GHSA and suspended for a game. It is about the kids, guys. That sort of nonsense proves nothing, and all of Camden County should be ashmaed of themselves.

Whoa! I’ve never seen the AJC SWAT team swing into action like that. Impressive! And they may even be able to fill the free space on page 9 of the Sports Section.
“In a daring raid, the AJC journalism interns hunted down the imposter. They tied him down with plastic bags, poured water over his head, and shot him with rubber bands until he admitted to being a spy from Alabama looking to upset the delicate pecking order in Georgia High School football. Actually, the interns already knew he was from Alabamastan because he only had one tooth.”

ENR you speak so much sense about Stephenson and MLK. We over at Douglass have the same history. Hit a wall and fall, but send scores and scores of D-1 athletes off to college. These past two, the wall has just pretty much fell on us. There’s so much blame to go around. I’ll have to start at the top, whoever hired the coach. Why would you hire a coach from a school you beat the season before? I hate it so much. I hate it so much, I stop giving my money to the boosters. And we let a fine assistant/alumni go and take over the Booker T. Washington program. Man, things are so pitiful over at the Big D, we’re all just crying, nobody is use to losing like this at all.

I was at the Winnersville Classic tonight and saw Lowndes High dismantle Valdosta in every phase of the game. It was the Peachtree Ridge game all over again – I was at that game too, by the way.
Now, to the wannabe football guru (”ENR”?) who made these confident statements, which events proved wrong in every way:
“Any who believes that Lowndes County is going to walk over Valdosta, you have no idea what it means to play and grow up in a special Friday Night Lights kind of town. Valdosta is not going to get crushed by Lowndes County…… ”
“Lowndes County is on “Upset Alert” tomorrow night. Anyone doubting that doesn’t know anything about the rivalry between Valdosta and Lowndes County….. Valdosta will NOT be Peachtree Ridged by Lowndes on Friday night.”
You’re so quick to insult other readers by telling them they have no idea what it’s like to play under the lights, or they don’t know anything about rivalries, etc. And yet, as it happens, Lowndes completely dominated the game and beat the Wildcats in the same fashion as they beat Peachtree Ridge, even though late in the game the Valdosta first string was still in against the Lowndes substitutes. But rather than admit you were wrong, you simply played one-note in your later posts and ungenerously (and wrongly) claim that Valdosta is no good anyway, and Lowndes has nothing to be proud of.
At least admit that you were dead wrong, and eat the crow you tried to shove down everyone else’s throats.
You have nothing generous to say about anyone except your own team – Lowndes is an underachiever “again”, despite all the state championships between 1980 and 2007? Coach McPherson makes bush league calls? Northside has a varsity team consisting of 14- and 15-year olds? You’re quick to disrespect other peoples’ schools based on your view of who “should have beat” whom… unless it’s your own team under discussion, in which case you ridicule others and say that there’s no point in speculating because the games were already played.
You are so quick to spin everything your own way while pretending to be an authority that you should have your own show on that cable news network with all the jerks on it. You know the one? Yeah, that one.

Hoya Chuck

Daddy….You are absolutely correct!! The biggest “MAJOR problem”, is the head coach! He seems to be constantly belittling and yelling at his players, instead of building them up and encouraging them. As a player, I would not feel like putting in the extra effort after getting an embarrassing beat down from my own coach! Perhaps it’s time for a change at the helm. Also, who ever is calling the plays….You don’t call a pass down the line of scrimmage to the sidelines, when you have third down and 10!!! You need to throw it at least ten yards down field!! Hello!!! The kids are trying hard. How about giving them some encouragement coach!! Just an obsevation from the stands…take it for what it’s worth. I still support the Hoyas regardless!!!

Sgt. Chris you are missing the point, Camdens football team traveled to hoover with the bill being paid by the booster club. The girls basketball team doesn’t have that option! SGT CHRIS,
Camden being in Region 3AAAAA has to do with the rule the GHSA has for travel during the week for the other sports besides football. I believe the distance is 100 miles. Region 1AAAAA is almost all further than that distance for teams during the week to travel and play, Like baseball, tennis, golf, track, softball, and vollyball etc.

And it is not like any team from camden is gonna throw bombs it was all runs right up the gut!!!! I honestly don’t think Groves had 1 positive yard untill the last minute of the first half!!! grayson has been blowing it’s horn since they beat us last year. they beat us fair and square. but to say the vikings are not able to win big games is just untrue. we have won three state championships since your school was formed. last i heard you’ve won none. we’ve won five total. your region is full of mediocre teams and you’ve again won no state titles. yes we don’t throw the ball well, but we have a coach that runs a wing t offense by choice. it’s a easy offense to run and learn. we usually lose when we make alot of mistakes.(which we sometimes do) But to rant that lowndes can’t win the big one when you’ve never actually one anything is comical. by the way, we are 5-0 in the biggest game of the year. if you don’t believe it, ask your boys at parkview, brookwood, and north gwinnett. win some state championships, heck win a few more region championships and maybe someone will believe that you belong in the group of state powers. for the record, we are 102-20(.836) and your are 69-32(.683) since 2000.oh by the way, did i say we’ve won 3 states since then and you’ve won zeeerrrooo!

Carver beat very game Troup team last night in a penalty marred contest. Sat with entire Lagrange coaching staff who probably were not impressed with either future opponents. Score was 6-2 at half. Carver pulled away in 4th due to superior speed and half Troup’s team was out w injury by then. Final 27-5 not really indicative of rest of game

Lowndes made history last night on National TV and live on Armed Forces Radio Network world wide. We became the 1st team to ever beat Valdosta six years in a row, and I believe the 57 points Lowndes put on the Cats were the most ever scored on them. Valdosta’s long time defensive geru Jack Rudolph would surely have been shocked if he was able to watch that game! I wonder what Mike Obrien, the Woodstock head coach who was fired at Valdosta a year or so after winning a state championship, had to say when he heard about Lowndes “PEACHTREERIDGING” Valdosta?
By the way, EagleNationRising (both of ya’ll) did you hear about the “under achieving Lowndes” score last night? Yep, in your words, we “PeachtreeRidged’em.”
And to our friend SportsFan31313, I’ll let you off the hook for leaving the Lowndes Valdosta game off your list of predictions this week. I guess you wanted to go with Valdosta. You must have been drinking some of ENR’s coolaid! Just kidding. Mannnnnn, I wish you had taken me up on the offer of tickets and come over for the game. As a graduate of Griffin, I was able to watch the game in Florida panhandle on Comcast. The Bears dominated the game, wasn’t even as close as score indicated. Grffin turned over ball too much, but should have beaten North Clayton by at least 21 more points. One of most impressive stats though was that the Bears have sent 17 players to NFL, more that any other high school in Georgia.

He said Lowndes would not crush Valdosta and they did just that….Hey, I bet he wont admit he was wrong with his “know it all statistical self,” but will instead come up with some trumped excuses in terms of why the Lowndes/Valdosta game turned out the way it did!!!!

REGION4AAAA: Sorry man, but the refs made some bad calls on BOTH sides. Our quarterback never fumbled the ball down on the 4 yard line. His knee was down when the ball came out. And on that one catch and run by number 13 of Griffin when they said he stepped out at the 4, he didn’t step out until the 1.
But, on the other side, when Griffin downed the punt on the one and pinned North Clayton deep, that should have been called a touchback and given North Clayton the back on the 20. I admit that was a bad call, too.
Officiating happens but this game wasn’t that bad. These are HS refs. They make mistakes.
North Clayton is a GOOD football team though with a lot of speed. But if Griffin had not made so many mistakes (fumbling, penalties) this game would have been a lot worse. At half time, one of the camera crew looked over at me and said “North Clayton” is lucky this game is only tied at the half.

Hoya Chuck…
Well your “Hoyas” seem to have a LOT of issues to fix and you lost 27/15 to what should almost certain be the #2 seed in Region 5A Woodstock…
EAST had TONS of issues to fix also, after the embarassment at Etowah and playing at home they looked better, but still showed they have NO pass “D” as North Cobb lit us up ALL night for HUGE gains and 2 TD’s!!
But a MAJOR gain was shown in the offense as EAST started and played ALL night our JR. QB and he both used the run and PASSED (something EAST had not done all year) to gain his first Varsity win as our Raiders hung on in the rain to win 28/23 over North Cobb.
Ga.Prep now has the Region 5A standings as:
McEachern #1
Woodstock #2
East Paulding #3
Etowah #4…
I really do not understand this as Etowah and EAST have the identical records of 4/2 & 3/2 in the Region and since Etowah destroyed EAST last week THEY shoud be the #3 seed and EAST the #4…
Can someone (maybe the AJC) explain this???
Anyway we will see your Hoya’s at “THE BONEYARD” this week as Harrison comes to East Paulding and I guess we will see who fixes the most problems the fastest!!!…LOL!
Go RAIDERS!!!!
