No problem. I think the cats could go home and just leave the Vikes to play their toughest opponent, the penalty gremlin. Valdosta has yet to have a penalty (or a point).

Viking posters and those EP posters riding the Viking bandwagon, give us all a break. You guys went into witness protection after your mighty Vikings laid down on the road, yet again. Now, you want to pose as EagleNationRising, just as your team was “posing” as a top 5 Nationally ranked program. Northside knows what a top nationally ranked program looks like. It is not the 2009 version of Lowndes County HS. I promise you that.

You are beating a team that is one fumble away from being last place in the region. Congratulations. I am happy that you feel great about yourselves. Lowndes County had a real test last Friday night. We all know how that turned out.

It will turn out like that every time, Vikings. Northside has faces Lowndes County 8 times. The Vikings are 2-6. Northside has put the Viking program up for rent. At the end of the day, we still own you. Northside 6, Lowndes County 2.

Lowndes County 30, Valdosta 7

Camden is up by 60 in the third. What’s the point? They are playing middle school opponents. Why not break up the entire region, draft the Camden players equally amongst the teams, and have some competitive balance? It is embarrassing! Who cares? I feven feel bad for their players winning so largley, and I am sure it is not a running up the score, just total mismatch. What a shame?

EaglesNationRising: No excuses for the Lowndes Vikings, but as I understand it, it was a refree call at the end that saved Northside. A refree should never be the deciding factor in a game. Without that call, the score would have been 17-10. Don’t talk bad about Valdosta; afterall, Northside barely beat them and Lowndes is killing them. Don’t act like Lowndes can’t win on the road. They have done that plenty of times such as the year we went into the Orange Jungle of Parkview and won state. You barely beat us and Valdosta. In a way, I’m glad Lowndes lost early in the season because the times that they have won state, they lost one early to give them a wake up call. It really doesn’t matter who’s #1 at this point in the season. It’s all about who’s #1 in Dec. after everything is said and done. If you don’t win state, noone will remember or care that you beat Lowndes earlier in the year. Although, I can imagine Northside fans will be just like Grayson fans and try to ride out the win for years to come. Get over it and talk to me at the end of the season!

jjhenry57- I am a Northside guy and I have to say I enjoyed that game vs the Vikings last week as much as any reg season game I can remember outside of the Eagles/Demons games. I think the winning teams fans have the right to talk about it. I dont think its a matter of “getting over it.” To the victor go the spoils. I havent said much, and wont say much, because I didnt talk beforehand. I recognize this is one of the youngest Eagle teams I can remember, and knew they would have their hands full. They did, it was a hard fought game, and the Eagles pulled off the upset. I was on the edge of my seat to the end. The game gave me goosebumps.

As far as the PI call goes, I didnt really hear anyone questioning the call. A holding call is one thing, but if theres blatant pass interference you have to call it. Had he not pushed off, he wouldnt have been in position to catch the ball.

I just think its amazing seeing a bunch of 15-18 year olds play their hearts out in such an epic game. That whole last 3 minutes I just couldnt stop thinking “someone has to lose, and they are going to get their hearts broken.

I dont think any Northside fan WANTS to play the Vikings again. Props to Conrad for beating a better team. If they played again at MTS, it could go either way. At Lowndes, the Vikings would have the edge without a doubt.

Anyway. All that being said…the losers walk and the winners talk. IMO, thats the rules of the game.

Yes, the Grayson/Brookwood game was a good neighborly brawl to the end. I noticed a lot of Grayson players hurt. Nice to see they have some depth. I thought Brookwood figured out to stop Grayson’s runners but I knew that Grayson would eventually break some in the end. Wore down Brookwoods defense.

Brookwood mom: I just gotta say very nice outing on Brookwood’s end. They smashed us until the end. Very great game

TJ: Joseph Champaign, #61, was taken out of the game by trainers because of a “Knee injury” even though he looked fine.

Most of our injuries tonight were cramps and stingers. I’m glad we have teams that have a combined record of 1-20 coming up so we can all heal.

Once again, Brookwood did a nice job but they just couldn’t pull it out in the end. My Rams win it 22-12 in a very hard fought game.

Also, I really think there should be no doubt were #1 because we have beaten Camden County, the defending champs, Warner Robins, winner of 2 national championships, South Gwinnett, Parkview, and Brookwood now. All of which, except Parkview and Brookwood, are ranked in the Top 10 in the state, or were. We always find a way to win in close games. That’s all i have to say.

7-0 Baby!

JJHenry57: Let’s clarify something that can not be taken away from something called reality. Northside beat Valdosta. Northside beat Lowndes County. For you to say that the final play was not CLEAR offensive pass interference is just flat out dishonest. If it were not for the great athletes wearing the Viking uniform, Randy McPherson would have blown the game three plays earlier. His call on 1st and goal was absolute bush league. The guy was flat out exposed.

Northside beat Valdosta and Lowndes County with a team that is full of 10th and 11th graders. There is no player on Northside’s team with the national hype of Valdosta’s TE Rome or a host of Lowndes County Vikings players.

Valdosta was in a tied game, 7-7, against Warner Robins. Warner Robins was driving the ball down their throats (because Warner Robins football teams are not posers). The Demons fumbled the ball just as they were about to score the game winning touchdown and Valdosta took it to the house some 70+ yards down the field. Valdosta posters keep talking about the Northside and Colquitt games which got away. The truth is Warner Robins should have beaten Valdosta and the Wildcats should be winless in the region.

No matter how you cut it, these are the facts. Northside is 6-0 and 4-0 in the region. Lowndes County is 6-1 and 3-1 in the region. Valdosta is 4-3 and 1-3 in the region. You can chatter about what could have been. What is represents the reality that we live in.

Vike69: What is the deal with Valdosta players fighting after they get beat. I know that Lowndes County players lost their minds when Grayson kicked Lowndes County around. Now, Valdosta players are sitting at 1-3 in Region 1-AAAAA play and starting fights. What is really going on down there?

Of course, Lowndes County players got hit so hard and so often by the 15 year old and 16 year old Northside players, they knew better than to start any chaos. That would not have gone over well. McConnell-Talbert Stadium is MUCH larger than Grayson. They knew better. Didn’t they?

BROOKWOOD MOM: I looked for you, but did not connect with you. However, I ran into some folks I used to go to church with. They have a son (#64) who plays for Brookwood. Some observations about tonight:
1) Special teams are an issue.
2) Kent Rollins is a better QB than Ben McLane
3) Your band is HUGE
4) Coaching is an issue (going for 2 after 1st TD, wasting time outs)
5) Defense seems to be improved. (I know Grayson hit some long pass plays in 1st half, but pass defense much better in 2nd half.
6) Run defense very good (held Pemberton in check until 4th qtr)
7) Pemberton’s big run was the turning point of the game.
8) Ugly win for Grayson, but they will take it.
Good luck the rest of the way (schedule is much tougher with only Central a gimme)

jjhenry57 “Although, I can imagine Northside fans will be just like Grayson fans and try to ride out the win for years to come.”

Excuse me but I see more fans from NSRW, Valdosta, Lowndes, Camdem Co., bringing up the past more than Grayson fams. Grayson is very focused on one week at a time this year and doesn’t really care about last year.

The game tonight was a good game. The rain shower came and went right after kickoff and I think the high humidity was affecting both teams some. Humidity that high makes it very hard to cool down as your sweat doesn’t evaporate. I have mixed feeling about how the game went. Yes, Grayson benefited from some early Brookwood mistakes. Brookwood got what appeared to me to be most of their yards from a few long pass plays. The Grayson D looked good down in the trenches and the offense put up a more varied play mixture than I have seen before. Once again, the defense heald and the offense played ball control.

I’m sure much will be made about the closeness of the score. Once again, Mickey Conn showed a lot of class and did not run the score up at the end. With the ball around the Brookwood 10 yard line, he chose to run the clock out instead of taking the easy field goal or possibly going for the TD. I was proud to see the players from both teams come together at mid-field after the handshake and those that chose to appeared to have a common prayer while the others waited and then congratulated each other. A lot of these kids know each other and I was told that the Grayson QB Santry and RB Pemberton grew up with a lot of the Brookwood players and know each other well. Even there was some serious hitting going on, there was good sportsmanship exhibited by both teams. Great game guys!

By the way, the Brookwood band is GOOD!!! :)

Congratulations Rick Tomberlin: You have just suffered the WORST loss to Lowndes in Valdosta history.
Also, this make you 0-4 vs Lowndes & coupled with an 0-3 record vs Valdosta while at Lowndes, I would bet the house against you coaching in the Winnersville Classic. When will Valdosta fans Bill Battle you?
(To explain, while coaching at Tennessee, Bill Battle had a moving van show up at his house one day.
But don’t feel sorry for Coach Battle. He founded Collegiate Sports Licensing, which trademarks college gear-so maybe getting out of coaching was a blessing in disguise for him)
