This one took a bit to get over…This one HURT!!!…This one was embarassing!!!…This was NOT A LOSS, it was a WHIPPING!!!

FIRST and FOREMOST!!!…

CONGRATULATIONS to ETOWAH’s EAGLES for a COMPLETE win over our RAIDERS!!

Etowah dominated from the start, even though the score stayed close until the middle of the 2nd quarter, it SHOULD NOT HAVE!!! Etowah should have scored several times and EP was LUCKY to even still be in the game at half time!!!

This game was a HUGE step backward for EAST and many fans and parents in the stands around where we were sitting were voicing their displeasure. The play calling was horrible, they ran plays all night long that didn’t work from the start and it was obvious Etowah could stop them. We again let our “starting???” quarterback “BALL HOG” the entire first half, this kid gets “happy feet” and refuses to pass until its too late and then he tries to run and gets dropped for losses time after time!!! This is a kid with good running skills and would be fine as a “wildcat” style player but SHOULD NOT BE the starting Quarterback…He is in WAY over his head!!!!

Our defense was RUN OVER all night and let Etowah convert 3rd downs into long runs of 15+ yards all night. I am sure this post is going to upset some of the other EP posters, but I am (as everyone knows) as strong an EP supporter and as vocal as anyone on here, but when you see a game played with as little heart as EP showed friday night they need to be called out for it. They came unprepared (Coach’s fault?)and players were just standing around on the sidelines talking to each other not looking like they wanted to win this one.

I agree with some of the other EAST posters that the RAIDERS are not as good this year as previous years but they should not be getting BLOWN OUT like they did friday night. Against McEachern EAST beat itself but friday night a MUCH BETTER Etowah team showed up…they deserved this win and agina I say CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

We’ll still be here the rest of the year…one loss does not destroy a season or what has been built over the last few years BUT the coaching staff really has to grab itself by the “boot straps” and get this years team refocused, there is still 5 games left to play!!!

good point humble observer. ive noticed that as well. mediocre teams have had success scoring on McE. maybe their offense can bail them out right now. but once in the post season the defense better step up because a team like grayson who has spectacular run defense and has an offense that is for ball control would kill i repeat kill McE.

THE CANNON RULES!!! & Say it Aint So: I know your points. I was just pointing out how absurd the post by D4L is about the perimeter. For years when you mentioned Metro Atlanta it was Fulton, Cobb, Dekalb, Clayton & Gwinnett. Now, depending on who you talk to, it makes up half of North Georgia. However, enough about what is metro Atlanta.
Cannon: With the enrollment at EP under 2000 & with several new HS's opening in Paulding, what is the probability of EP dropping to AAAA. I know that EP is a smaller AAAAA HS, but they are not alone. Stephenson & Valdosta are also among 29 schools in AAAAA that are under 2000 students. However, there are 7 schools (all in Gwinnett) that have over 3000 students, but not all are powerhouses. (Mill Creek & Berkmar)

for all the love Burke is getting and no one acknowledging Baldwin, after Burke see first hand the defense that will show that they are no the cream of the crop. i wonder how many of you will come back and say dang the Braves are for real. the region cham, pionship will be decided in milledgeville when WACO comes to the braves this year. remember last year when Baldwin went to WACO when they were putting up in excess of 40 pts a game and then had to go to their own grade yard theirselves. this year should be a better matc up BUT the #1 and #2 seeds will be decided that night for 3-AAA

I would not hold my breath on the Metro Area Theory by D4L. There are parts of Atlanta and Fulton County outside of 285. Are they not considered Metro Atlanta? Go Figure.

SouthGARules...

The only thing the ARC actually does is attempt to add area to the Metro area for political purpose. The City of Atlanta cannot (hasn't been able to for years) support itself so it has to look OUTSIDE the box to create revenue dollars. That is all the ARC adding "fringe" counties is about. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL!!!! Hmmmmm, it seems like I have told this guy this same thing a number of other times...

OK all i have to say about the NSWR and Lowndes game is this, from kickoff to end whistle I know Northside is going to play hard, I also know Lowndes is going to play hard, this has in my books become a the rivalry matchup that the NSWR vs. Warner Robins game is. The reasoning behind it being WR cant match up to NSWR and hasnt been able too in years now. Lowndes has a great team, one of the few teams i believe can beat Northside, I believe defensive turnovers are going to be the factor in this game and as always i will be routing on my Eagles, but in repect to Lowndes playing us at home good luck guys....

AVikingFan: The game is available on the internet at www.gpb.org/football.live.
Decatur 4 Life: Thanks for educating me. All these years I was thinking that Gwinnett County was part of Metro Atlanta. According to you, anything to the outside of 285 is NOT in the metro area. I'm sure the ARC would be interested in your theory.

AVIKINGFAN,

You really have it going on don't you? You even know what time the feeding of that Viking Team? As far as television coverage, I wish it was being televised on ESPN but Northside Warner Robbins are ranked high enough for this show down between the two. But I believe that this game will be so far the most heavily watched and monitored. It will be a successful victory for the Vikings though.

Burke County VS Baldwin County. Yes it will be a good game but not quite the publicity that the Lowndes Northside game will be. I will say though, that Region 3 -AAA are loaded with talent, and it remind me of Region 1-AAAAA on a smaller level.

Bradwell Institute plays Jenkins of Savannah. It will be a cake walk for them. In addition Camden County plays Beach Of Savannah. another cake walk. I will be listening to and keeping tuned into the Lowndes / Northside game.

You do know that metro Atlanta has a second perimeter highway approved, called something like the Outer Loop or Outer Perimeter?

Eagle Nation Rising-true locals know that 285 marks the true perimeter of Atlanta, anything to the outside of that is NOT in the metro area. I agree with the Paulding county residents, they aren't in the metro Atlanta area. Besides who cares, plus I'm tired of hearing about our weak metro teams or anyhting about region 1AAAAA. You have the toughest region hands down but with all that hype the championship didn't go through that region last year. You guys were at home watching just like everyone else. And it's funy to hear you talk being in AAAAA because you haven't done anything in the playoffs since being there. I'm pulling for you this weekend but ultimately your region better not lose any games in the playoffs because the cash money talk yall been doing will be your demise.

"SIDELINE OBSERVER" A slight correction to your rece nt post about Lowndes scoring and missed PAT's. Lowndes has scored 35 TD's in the 1st 5 games, 3 Field goals, and made good on 28 extra point attempts. But we did fail on 7 extra point attempts, including failure on an attempt for two points once. (We've had 7 TD's that went for 65 or more yards.) Now if we can do our thing and beat a very good Northside team tonight.

Thanks SportsFan31313. I can guarantee our lil ole Lowndes County boys will play their best! They want to break that winning streak at the MAC like we did NS's other winning streak last year. We're feeding the team at 2:30, then they'll board the buses for the trip up to WR. We won't be having motel rooms for them this trip like we do when they go to Atlanta, because the travel time is only 2 hrs or so.

That Burke vs Baldwin game should really be a good one, as will be EP and Etowah and Valdosta vs Colquitt. I can't believe Lowndes vs Northside are not on TV on CSS nor can I believe the game they chose to televise.

Who does Bradwell play tonight?

It should be noted that Lowndes Vikings have failed on seven point after touchdown attempts this year. (They've made 26 PAT's and three field goals) A missed extra point or field goal could very well be the difference in tonight's game with Northside. (But on the other hand, not many teams have scored 33 touchdowns in their 1st five games.) Just saying.....

REESE: Your 5:00am post was very well written. I too an anxiously waiting for to night's kickoff. We know something about youth and how it affects a team. Our QB is a JR, with only 5 varsity starts, and one of our two Wingbacks is a JR. Out kicker is a JR, as are a few of the offensive and defensive linemen. But mainly we are a SR team like NSWR was last year.

I honestly think we can win, but the home winning streak, the home atmosphere, etc are big factors on your side. I just hope we have good weather, experienced and fair referees, and no injuries for either team, or for fans going to and home from the game.

Along with Parkview, Buford and Camden, NSWR and Lowndes have truly been among the best Georgia teams of the decade. I hope we both go on from this game and represent our region well.

LOL........ENR ,man give me some of what you"re drinking (or smoking) .......Good luck tonight to the Eagles and Vikes........Vike fans don't get confused with some of the posts,Northsiders always respect good Football ...Should be a good one.....Northside's defense will hold it down ,maybe in the first half,,then the Viking machine will wear the defense down and put it out of reach.........I'm a big Northside fan , and proud and a little surprised that we are 4-0 at this point , but the Vikes will be a little much for our youngsters...Like I said ,I am proud of the Eagles so far....... They shut down Carvers Burns ,Pitts and Crowell and were Up 21-0 at the half ,They kept Hoco's Robert Williams under a 100 yards rushing and held the Cats to 0 points in the first half....ENR and Eagleforlife will disagree ,but it is , what it is ..........Northside football is rebuilding , but we will go # 2 or 3 in the Region ,depending on the up coming WR and Colquitt games ......Northside fans will soon go into recovery, Lowndes will be the intervention.......ENR and Eaglesforlife , the year is 2009, In the last 10 years when was the last time that there were 2 Soph's 1 Junior and 1 Senior starting on a Nix defensive line,or 1 senior at LB or two soph's at the corners, or when a Soph was the leading in pass recpt's and yards or 1 Senior starter at the money postions( QB ,WR ,RB T.E) (Maybe 2006). ENR this is not 1999 , 2001 or 2005 thru 2008, you guys know that there were only a few better than Northside then ,Namely Lowndes ,Parkview , Warner Robins , Camden and Statesboro ..... Remember the Northside cliche' "We only lose to State Champions" The 2009 squad these kids will be hell on wheels in 2010 and on ,but this year they still have a ways to go.......But you know we have Nix , Kinsler and Staff.....With a whole year to study up on the Viking machine........not wishful thinking , but a very , very long shot pulling out a win tonight at the MAC.........can't wait til tonight!

jjhenry: In another blog EaglesNationRising (ENR) gave some East Pauldin fans a lot of garbage and grief for saying nice things about Lowndes and for picking Lowndes to beat NSWR tomorrow The EP fans have as much right as anyone to pull for whoever they want to, but ENR literally gave'em he*l for it.

To the Cannon Rules: Why are you bringing Lowndes County into your discussion with EaglesNationRising. Lowndes County are Vikings not thugs; furthermore, EaglesNationRising is a Northside Warner Robins fan, so keep Lowndes out of your conversation!

Reese, I agreee 100% with you. A school can elect to play "UP" in a larger classification. But the reverse is NOT true. No team can choose to play "down" in a smaller classification. Our friend "THE CANNON RULES" is wrong about this one.

Cannon Rules..........I am kinda confused..Which So. or middle Ga. class AAAA teams have large enough student populations that should play AAAAA ball?.......I can't think of any ,if fact most are far below the 1900 mark.

SportsFan31313...

The student population difference is an issue that I don't really have an answer for...but take EAST as an example they are the only Paulding County school playing in AAAAA and they have a much smaller student count that almost every school they play against.

But I think there is validity to the comment made about many of the AAAA schools in So. Ga. that have large student counts (and should be playing in AAAAA) but continue to play in AAAA just so they can dominate year after year.

ENR...

For the LAST time, whether or not Paulding County is in the ARC and the fact that Glenn Richardson is from here has NOTHING to do with High School football, or if the AJC is available in a gas station in Hiram, my comment to you was to CORRECT your comment that East Paulding was a METRO ATLANTA SCHOOL...

and the FACT still remains they are not a METRO ATLANTA SCHOOL as you stated! If being wrong bothers you SORRY, but YOU WERE WRONG!!! This we can help you correct as we try to educate you on what you are so dismally trying to discuss.

If on the other hand you are just STUPID...then we can't help you and you will just continue to ramble and babble as you post and annoy the rest of us.

HeadEast, will all do respect man, the Lowndes vs. EP game would be a blowout. Lowndes is way to powerfull for ya'll. Unless you've improved 5 times what you were last year, you'd get killed. Even then you'd still be beat by 21.

AJC - I like your logic... I think. :-/

I have to say that I expected your pick... but amid the confusion between AJC and GHSF Daily, is this the AJC's pick independent of the GHSF Week 6 predictions? ;-)

Other than Pops and few fans angered by the EP faithful, I suspect that Etowah is the overwhelming underdog. Fine by me, the sweeter the victory!!

BOOM, BOOM, tick (the anti-EP countdown)

Headeast,

I don't think that the State has that many Schools with that type of enrollment to support a true classification AAAAAA. We already have a lot of schools that are playing up in Classifications. Unless GHSA will allow that to happen, ( Schools play up in Class) it may work.

Etowah Fan - I'm going to pick East Paulding and here's why you should thank me for doing so. In every AJC newsroom "guess the winners/losers in the state finals football brackets" just-for-laughs competition we used to have, guess who ended up picking the smallest number of winners. That's right -- ME. Be glad I didn't pick Etowah. I'm setting myself up for blame from East Paulding fans, though. :-(

So when I say I'm picking East Paulding over Etowah, it's not because I think EP is better than Etowah. Or that Etowah is better than EP. You both look like good teams and it should be a great game. If you're going -- any of you -- keep us updated on the score and goings-on.

ENR - Pops is correct in that Bill Stewart did come directly from Parkview under Cecil Flowe as the linebackers coach and co-DC.

On the beat down of metro-Atlanta and Region 5, I will agree to disagree with you, ENR. Several valid points already made to counter your opinion... but don't forget the ever changing landscape with re-classification and school boundaries redrawn in metro Atlanta. In Cherokee county alone (considered more rural and less metro Atlanta only 10-15 years ago), we had three High Schools only 12 years ago. We now have six High Schools and the highest enrollment is just barely over 2000 and that is the about the maximum that the facilities can handle. A little more difficult to build consistency into any feeder programs and at the high school level when the boundaries get redrawn every two to three years. Also, it is kind of nice to draw from a talent pool that is 30-50% larger in total enrollment as Head East pointed out.

HEY ENS, SHUT UP!!!!!!!!! I think you need to be worrying about Lowdnes more so than the EP Raiders. Seems to me that you want to take all the attention away from the thrashing you guys are about to receive from the vikings. They beat ya last year and they will do it again this year, just a little worse. When Lowndes starts playing folks other than Woodland of Henry county, and Ware county then you can start talking, until then keep your mouth shut. Don't know what problem you have with EP, but I'd like to know. As far as the Etowah/EP game Friday, it is a big game for both schools. Should be about like last year close til the end.

ENR - For all that big BS you post you left out a few things. Any championship you ever won was against a bunch of weak sisters in little league AAAA. In real ball and recent history you have two less losses than EP, a margin that will be back to one after tomorrow night. Last year you talked all that smack about all 1-AAAAA teams in the semis and NONE OF THEM MADE IT!!!!! You went out in the 2nd round last year just like we did. One huge difference, we won our first game on the road not at home playing some weak little girls team with the infamous homeboy cheating refs of Warner Robins. Only problem with tomorrow is it should be Etowah Eaglettes vs Northside Lady Eaglettes and EP with Lowndes and we'd get two good games instead of two blowouts. Egg layin, smack talkin birds get their feathers ruffled in their own little nests tomorrow. Lowndes Rules! East Rocks!

Proud Eagle your 3:12pm post was well written and much appreciated! I thoroughly respect NSWR, its players, coaches, tradition, and it's fans. All except for ENR. Hopefully in our game Friday, even though it will be hotly contested by players from both teams, there are no injuries to players or traffic accidents for fans going to or from the game. Also, hopefully we will have good weather and experienced referees. It really should be a great game.

The Cannon Rules, how could you possibly forget Milton's #5 Tony Williams. We only heard his name and number 9 out of every 10 plays they ran that night. I think the coaches forgot there were 10 other players on the field with him.

ENR - Based on what I loosley know about Stewart. His roots are in Florida playing for UCF and the Orlando Predators. I believe he was defensive coordinator at Armwood(Perennial power), and then held same position at Parkview before coming over to Etowah. Most of his staff seem to have Florida roots as well.
Etowah Fans correct me if I am wrong.

Eagle Nation Rising: As a long-time Northside fan who has supported our team in many ways over the years, I beg you, I implore you ... please shut up. You are an embarrassment to our program with your endless rantings and claims and boasts about your knowledge and even your own education. You probably don't know this, but most of us consider all of your crap to be a serious insecurity problem with yourself, and it is obviously pathological.

If you're going to post, just once, please JUST ONCE ... say something nice and positive about our players who work so hard to entertain us.

And don't say another word about any streak! Last year you set us up for a big loss at Lowndes, and you're doing the same thing this year.

PLEASE ... take this as a personal challenge and just resist the urge to continue with more of your crapola postings. Since you obviously are not aware of it, please be informed that your postings have become an obsessive and severe psychological disorder. You need help, sir! And of course I expect you to immediately retort with more of your crap and convoluted anti-logic.

PLEASE, on behalf of all decent and sane Northside fans ... SHUT UP!

PurpleHurricane 87: I see the region. If Peach County was in that region too, that would not really seem fair. Peach County just plays Baldwin as a local (Middle Georgia) game. You guys have some stiff competition. Who is going to win the Baldwin-Burke County game? I believe that SportFan31313 is calling for a Burke County win. I know that some poster from Waynesboro believe that Burke County is being underappreciated.

I have to admit, I am in the closet on being on the Braves' bandwagon because I was raised playing against Baldwin teams. Those guys use to play in our region when our region included all of the Macon and Warner Robins schools along with Baldwin and Evans & Butler from the Augusta area.

Good luck tomorrow night. Take it easy on the Middle GA kids from Baldwin and Washington County. :-)

ENR - All good points, By no means am I a defender of East Paulding. I also believe that Etowah's modern day era began 4 years ago with the hiring of Bill Stewart, playoffs each year.
I am just hoping for the nice win for Etowah, that we are both predicting.

Pops: There is no doubt that McEachern is right where you want to be. Ranked and respected, but just under the radar. Still, these programs are not newcomers to the seen. Some of the schools have been around for years. At some point, they have to really take a big step forward if they want the "respect" that they seek.

Gwinnett programs get ink because they perform annually. There is always someone looming from the county. It may be an underperforming Norcross program. It may be Peachtree Ridge winning a state championship out of nowhere. It may be a run from Parkview or the consistency of Brookwood. It may be Grayson beating a beast of a Lowndes team last year or North Gwinnett going out and beating top out-of-state teams.

The Cobb County schools have not done that. Even DeKalb County schools have won it all with Dunwoody or Southwest DeKalb, the program with one state titles and the talent pool to win 10 state titles. Now, Stephenson and Martin Luther King HS are rising. Region 5-AAAAA schools have to go out and make some noise. I do not believe that they do that regularly.

Woodstock had a really nice run last season, but were the last team to qualify as a 4th seed. Where was the top of the region? For all of their chest thumbing, EP has made runs and were put down so harshly, it made you wonder if they really belonged. Marist destroyed them 27-7 at the Georgia Dome in 2006. In 2007, Thomas County Central made a mockery of the Raiders with a 48-21 quarterfinal beatdown. That was AAAA football. Now, they are playing with the big boys and more losses have followed.

CannonRules: This is the same Paulding County that is home to Hiram, GA; Dallas, GA; and those East Paulding Raiders who McEachern kicked around? Correct? Did you really say that you are not a part of Atlanta? You do know that metro Atlanta has a second perimeter highway approved, called something like the Outer Loop or Outer Perimeter? You do know that it is going to run through Paulding County?

You are Atlanta, as this map of the ARC (Atlanta Regional Commission shows: http://www.atlantaregional.com/documents/rs_ARC_Regions_Map_11x17_032409.pdf.

Don't deny it. Your team plays like a metro Atlanta program too. We both know that if anyone on this site rolled into a Hiram or Dallas gas station, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will be all over the place. Furthermore, half of the town would be reading through it every Saturday morning to see if there are more pictures from the Raiders game. I guarantee you the AJC has it's highest sales in Paulding County on Saturday morning, because they give the Raiders so much ink.

If you keep talking I am going to send some people from McEachern to pipe you down. Remain focused on what this board is about - the top games and matchups in Georgia this week. There must be a consolation blog about teams like EP, that are not really relevent.

ENR - I like your Etowah pick and respect your region 5 opinion, but you have also mentioned the glimpses' that would garner the respect you speak of. Harrisson in the past, and Woodstock's deep run last year. Perhaps there is another region 5 run coming this year. McCeachern certaintly could do it.
As far as the Etowah McCeachern game. Get caught with your pants down and you will get spanked!

CannonRules: You boys out in Hiram like to play the country boy card. You know full well that Paulding County is a part of the ARC. If you are denying it, I will post the website on this board. Your hometown boy, Georgia General Assembly House Speaker Glenn Richardson, is chasing every Atlanta lobby skirt and working to make Hiram a big part of the metro area.

I live in the middle of the city. You, like most people in Hiram, are selective about when you want to be a part of metro Atlanta. CannonRules, the EP-Etowah game is not listed. Deal with it. Don't blame me. Blame the AJC, which wastes most of our time every Saturday by covering the very soft silver and black. I can barely eat my Saturday morning breakfast without seeing pictures from who the silver and black lost to.

I am over it. Let's talk about the 10 biggest games this week. That means no more chatter about EP. Don't make me call the McEachern Indians into this conversation. By the way, what is the deal with HeadEast riding the Lowndes bandwagon so hard. Give me a break!

This will be my final post about a game that is not even listed among the top games. As usual, metro Atlanta high school posters are going to force their way into the conversation. I have a suggestion for an amazing way for Region 5-AAAAA to garner some real respect. Win in the state playoffs. I am not talking about the first home game against another weak metro Atlanta program. I am talking about doing what Woodstock, the 4th seed from the region, almost did last season when they gave Camden County all that they could handle.

The other option is to schedule top flight competion annually and win annually. To Harrison's credit, they did just that. My guess is that they played Lowndes well at Harrison and then beat Lowndes at Martin Stadium. Now, the Vikings are dodging them. Nonetheless, the programs, especially the top programs should go out and play thr big name programs across the state. That will garner great respect.

I am going to pick Etowah because I believe that EP is suspect on the road. They barely beat Rome and lost to McEachern, who is clearly the class of the region. That 49-10 loss to McEachern by Etowah concerns me. I just do not understand how you get beat so badly in a high school game. 49-10? Seriously?

The Eagles are not in the elite class Lowndes is this year. They should be very confident playing an underdog. We just don't want it to be a runaway game playing the #4 team in the nation--depending on the poll. NS will do it's best but please come to play a determined light weight.

EagleNationRising...

Do yourself a favor and do a bit of "homework" before you post...
Our East Paulding Raiders ARE NOT "another overhyped metro Atlanta program" as you put it, we a located in Paulding County west of Metro Atlanta!

and you need only look to last years playoff games to see the quality of Region 5A play as our RAIDERS played Grayson in a second round playoff game AT GRAYSON that was won by Grayson 17/7...Grayson then HOSTED your much ballyhooed Lowndes Vikings/THUGS and beat them by the SAME score of 17/7!!!

The difference in the games was the EAST / Grayson match-up was a good clean game and Grayson came out on top...the EAST & Grayson players met and shook hands at the end. With the Grayson / Lowndes game (as you know) your players tried to intimidate and take cheap shots all night...finally causing a full scale brawl that the Lowndes staff didn't even try to stop...VERY CLASSY!!!

I thought that this blog was about the top ten games in the state of Georgia. With that being the understanding here, why are we blogging about bottom-feeding programs like East Paulding? I am a little confused. I thought this was about important games across the state. I continue to see blogs about East Paulding. Do they even have a AAAAA team in Hiram? I heard that there was a program somewhere in Georgia wearing silver and black, but hitting like they wear pink Under Armour. The real EP has been exposed. Yet another example of OVERHYPED metro Atlanta football.

AJC - Nice disclaimer... and I did the know difference, but GHSF Daily does the predictions (Chip) and Polls (Todd) and the Prep Zone posts FOR the AJC. Part the "efficiency" efforts, I reckon.

But since you mentioned Carvell/AJC, he (assuming you won't disavow him) did not highlight the Etowah/EP game either in the opening comments of Week 6 Football coverage. And I know that Carvell is out this week anyway. Bottom line, I guess the "dissing" of the Etowah/EP game appears to be universal. ;-)

It's all in good fun. Just trying to prop/defend the Eagles and Region 5. There does seem to be a rather large Region 5 contingency that follows here... but I guess that doesn't warrant any "respect" points.

Todd has been quiet...

As usual the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has the information incorrect. Northside was 7-0 as the home team in McConnell-Talbert Stadium in 1997. Amazing. Northside's last regular season loss to a visiting team was on September 20, 1996. Since that 1996 season, Northside has won 10 or more games in every season except one, a 9-4 season in 1997. The Eagles have played in four State championship games, won 2 State Championships, and reached the Quarterfinals or better 6 times.

Why use a play on words? Northside's last loss of any kind at McConnell-Talbert Stadium (The MAC) came on October 22, 2004 with a 10-3 loss against eventual State champion, Warner Robins. Of course, the MAC practically sits on the Warner Robins HS campus. I guess they sat on the road side of their home stadium. You call it what you want.

At the end of the day, Northside is 71-4 at the MAC since 2000, with two of those losses coming at the hands of the State Champion (Northside lost in the 2001 State Championship game to Parkview, 12-7, and lost to 2004 State Champion Warner Robins, 10-3).

Any clown who believes that any program in this nation can roll into the the MAC and "Peachtree Ridge" us is fooling themselves. In less than 30 hours, Lowndes posters, along with bandwagon Lowndes fans from Paulding County are going to see what the MAC is all about and learn that Northside-Warner Robins will not get "Peachtree Ridged" by anyone.

ENR

Baldwin County will not beat Burke County this year. If they by chance pull it off, it would be a HUGE upset. Aren't they in Region 3-AAA?

Who is responsible for the scheduling at Baldwin HS in Milledgeville? Those guys were rated in the top five a few weeks ago. Now, they are facing their third top 5 team in a row. Wow! Good luck to the Braves. They will certainly be battle tested by the time the playoffs come if they can keep their head above water. Playing Peach County, Carver-Columbus, and now Burke County would be a tough challenge for any AAA team (or AAAA or AAAAA team). That is a murderer's row of stiff competition in 3 consecutive weeks.

I thought EP posters were all still in hiding after McEachern made quick work of yet another overhyped metro Atlanta program. Do us a favor, HeadEast, stay in the little boys room and chat mediocre metro Atlanta football. Chatter about Region 1-AAAAA football is for the big boys. EP is far from that.

Thanks "the cannon Rules" I've was just wondering about Milton, i see where they seem to be winning each week. I try to keep up with EP because I kinda know you guys that support'em on on the blogs, and I try to keep up with Woodstock because Mike O'brien used to coach here and was treated very badly by Valdosta. I sure wish we could borrow your cannon this week so ENR could here it go BOOM BOOM every time we score. (That's of course hoping we are ABLE to score on NSWR Friday.)

Good luck against Etowah!

Etowah Fan - GHSF Daily and AJC are not the same. They're providing us with extra high school sports coverage this season. We didn't produce this content, they did. We just post it and bring it to you as a means of offering you HS coverage you might not otherwise get. Our HS beat writer is Michael Carvell. His stories are AJC-produced. So is anything that's not marked as being GHSF Daily content.

Just saying... if you feel Etowah got dissed on this list, well... hey, where IS Todd Holcomb, anyway? :-)

AVikingFan...

EAST played (and beat) Milton last year at Milton in a playoff game that ranks as one of the best I have ever been to. It went to triple overtime!!!

Milton has probably the BEST visitors side seating I have seen at a high school. It resembles a jr. college stadium, and they are first class all the way. It's a large school and last years team was very good, they had a running back who was big and fast (can't remember his name) but I am almost sure he was a senior last year. I don't know about how they are playing this year. If you play at Milton you will enjoy the trip.
