I’m glad that others have picked up on the deplorable behavior on the field by some Tucker players. That the Tigers got hammered Friday is no surprise, nor is it that they were running their mouths again instead of running plays and defensive schemes. Until the Tucker staff jumps all over this thuggish behavior, the Tigers will stay a second-rate team.

You South GA bloggers, first let me say that you do have some really good football in the Southern part of the State. I have been reading the argument that football south of Macon is far superior than the metro area; so let me ask you why do you think that your football is better than the Metro Atlanta area? Is it because you think you have better coaching staffs, is it because your kids are fed a different diet, is it because your kids are more disiplined or could it be that you have fewer schools, therefore are able to have bigger programs? How do you think that you would do if you had say 9 or 10 high schools in one County? I am just curious!

Stephenson had too many turn overs and penalties and they played without 5 starters on defense and 3 on offense. Total of 8 starters being out. Injuries and some players being benched for discipline reasons almost cost Stephenson. Don’t count them out yet cause they suffered some key players being out for a game or 2. Newton is underrated I think or they played their best game in years.

Well I see that McEachern just “squeaked” by South Cobb 48/7!!! Each win puts them closer to that #1 spot in Region 5A. EAST, Woodstock, & Etowah continue the race to see who will be the #2 seed. The EAST / Etowah match-up this week will go a long way towards seeing how 5A will shape-up.

Too subtle for Yo, I guess.
Gainesville is an awesome team in 3A. They are a nationally ranked football team that could beat many of the 5A and 4A teams in the top 10 rankings. They have nothing at all to do with the opponent from division 7AAAAA who will put Lowndes out in the quarter-finals again this year. Go take a look yourself. I have never EVER been a fan of Buford.
It will be quite fun to see how Lowndes plays after their 5 hour bus trip to one of the 3 7AAAAA teams in Suwanee GA. It remains to be seen, which team. We have some BIG, FAST “metro” players who are well coached. They have been eating “Wing T” teams for lunch since they were 6 years old. Been there, done that. Have you ever stopped to think about why winning college teams do not run the Wing T? Change your offense, or consider losing a game to get into a different bracket. It is going to be interesting.
By the way, we have book stores here in the Big City. You might consider buying one or two while you are here. Maybe you can get a few tips for your future in Bovine Management.

NSWR Eagle Fans are just glad we are doing as well as we are. The Demons were to be the class of WR for 2009. Most Eagle fans didn’t expect more than a 7-3 season. This is our re-building year but we happen to be playing very well. Lowndes is the class of south Georgia for 2009. A lost to them won’t be bad. NS will fight them to the end- but a play-off spot will be nice.

Yo, what the hell does Gainesville have to do with anyone in AAAAA (that’s 5A, in case you’re missing a finger)?? Anyone who knows GA football knows that the Red Elephants have consistently been a power for more than 30 years. Teams tremble at the thought of going to City Park, and for good reason. And let’s not forget the newbies at Flowery Branch who have done quite well for themselves since the school opened just a few years ago. We all know that Lowndes, N’side, WR and several other SGA teams are powerhouses. However, be mindful of the FACT that there are plenty of teams north of I-20 more than willing to line up and kick your a$$ any Friday night you like.

True we had 4 or 5 Turnovers, but Newton County had 4 chances to score to and couldn’t get it in and our only TD came after they dropped a punt. Being without starters is no excuse for the way we played, we were outcoached and like it was said you had better not over look Newton County because that coach has them playing hard.
Hey!

Newton County is underrated they took it to the jags like no one has. They dropped two Touchdown passes as well as not scoring when they had four chances, so the score could have been NC 35 – Jags 7

I’m with Pops and Wolverine Fan(we need to come up with more unique name for you, haha). EP wont come out of the Eagle’s Nest as clean as their jerseys will. Exspect a huge bounce back from Etowah after the Woodstock game. And I think that Woodstock has clinched that 2 spot *knock on wood*, but who knows. Harrison and Marietta might pull the upsets and we might claim that #1 spot.

BigJag88 How were we outcoached? What can a coach do about 5 uncaused fumbles in the rain. We all see different things during a game and I think it is on the players when they fumble the ball. I was at the game and you are making an excuse if you blame coaching on an OT win on the road. As for Hey, Its funny how you leave out all of the play by play and only include what you want to include. For example the 80 yard KO return by SHS to start the game that was brought back by a penalty or the two fumbles that came inside of newton 20 yard line that would have led to scores. By the way you did not drop two TD passes they were overthrown. the four chances you had to score I believe itS called DEFENSE. If your coach had gotten remotely close to the endzone he would have tried to kick a FG. I will give you credit you have improved from what you used to be, but don’t think that you could pull that result off a second time.

To Funny: We still have the second half of the season for teams to gel as a unit. Tucker may not have to play Marist again, but there are at least 4 or 5 teams that are more disciplined and physical than Tucker at this point in season who could compete with and beat Marist.

Looks as though the Etowah and Woodstock fans have banded together as county buddies on the blog and that is almost sweet. Hearing Etowah fans say they will beat EP isn’t surprising, nor is hearing the same from the Woodstock folks, since an EP loss simply means they can slide into the region 2 spot a little easier.
I really think that EP doesn’t have a great defense,,,,,however I am primarily pointing to the pass defense which is pretty bad. But give the fact that the Cherokee county teams are really one dimensional (Woostock only attempted 4 passes: all incomplete against McEachern), it will allow EP to cheat pretty heavily against the run. Only if Etowah and Woodstock learn how to loosen a defense by attempting to throw the ball do I see them scoring much.
As far as stopping EP’s offense. Please don’t get overly excited about Marietta holding them to 9 pts. It was a rough week here in Paulding county last week with the flooding. Minds were on damage and losses more then football.
Actually I’d like for McEachern fans to weigh in on who they think might have the advantage of the EP/Etowah/Woodstock bunch, since they’ve played all three.
Looking forward to our first trip to Etowah this Friday. I sense the possiblity of a let down on the part of Etowah, knowing they probably can’t get home field advantage in the playoffs, and that win or lose they are mostly like still going to get in the playoffs. I see EP coming out on top 20-7, as I just don’t think Etowah has enough firepower to put much up offensively.

Sorry, Yo, my prior comments were harsh. I overreacted to your previous implication that I might be a Buford fan. I am willing to recognize the incredible coaching at Buford over the years, but I care nothing for the team due to their history of recruiting from the larger districts around them. The mere thought of being a Buford fan caused me to abandon civility.
I can say there are some pretty good football teams around here. The following school districts are all contiguous: Peachtree Ridge, North Gwinnett, Collins Hill, Buford, Flowery Branch, and Gainesville. 3 of those teams are unbeaten and the other 3 have only 1 loss each. Between them, those teams have 27 wins and 3 losses. There are several choices for fun games to watch on Friday Nights for the locals. Some of the local strength occurs as professional players settle in the area to have families. To deny there is some pretty good football in North Metro reflects poorly on the analytical skills of the poster.
At the same time, anyone with at least 2 brain cells has to recognize the strength and history of football in South Georgia, and the Valdosta area in particular.
I do believe the Wing T may be nearing the end of its usefulness as strong teams begin to exploit its weaknesses in the playoffs. I could be wrong, but it will be interesting to watch. On the other hand, if your favorite team is big enough and fast enough they could even run a Single Wing, and still win.
In the state playoffs this year, the 1AAAAA winner and 7AAAAA winner will likely tangle in the quarter-finals. That is going to be a very tough bracket, and I don’t think any team should count on emerging unscathed. There is a good chance the State 5A Champion will have to come through Suwanee. For that matter, there is a good chance the 3A and 2A champions will be playing quarterfinal games in my backyard also.
The playoffs will be exciting and very fun to watch.

rwdekalbfan: Tucker had a great run at the end of last year, but this year is different. Your team is not nearly as good as last year’s, and Tucker lacks a core of senior quality senior leadership to turn things around. The winner of Marist v. SWD will win 6AAAA, and those two teams might face each other in the Dome, as was the case with Marist and Tucker last year. Griffin is a very high quality AAAA team as well.

Well it looks like Etowah & Woodstock have decided that they are the # 2 & # 3 seeds for Region 5A BEFORE either of them have played EAST!!! Interesting to say the least…they are even talking about Harrison upsetting McEachern to give them a shot at # 1…LOL! Harrison, who barely got by South Cobb who McEachern just beat 48 to 7. Harrison, who just got whipped AT HOME by a winless Kennesaw Mtn. team!… Don’t hold your breath for any help as far as McEachern goes…they are basically on “cruise control” having played AND BEAT Woodstock, Etowah & EAST!
EAST has issues and they show up in every game, they are not as consistent as previous years and have a LONG way to go with their pass defense. But they WILL stop the Etowah run game COLD and force them to pass…with a bit of luck and some strong special teams play EAST should be OK. I look for a VERY close game, give Etowah the home field advantage, but crowds will be about the same as EAST travels HUGE, with good weather and good refs that call a fair game both ways…
I will say EAST 17 Etowah 7…TICK…TICK…TICK…BOOOOOOOM!!!!

The taking and giving is what makes it so much fun!
I think we learned last year (nothing Lowndes hasn’t always known) that Gwinnet has fine football teams and without a doubt the strength of Gwinnett is now in or near Suwanee.

Your right we see things different, what I saw was a team adjust to what we were doing and stop it,we had some big plays but so did they. There is nothing coach can do about fumbles in the rain, but it stopped raining in the 1st quarter and how many times did newton County Fumble? None if I remember correctly. We set our self up to get beat by not taking this team serious and we all know this team is on the come up. so if it was defense that kept them out of the endzone, then it was defense that caused all of our fumbles. Coach needs to stop making excuses why it was so close and realize he got OUT COACHED!

Northside will beat Lowndes with a team full of junior and sophomore players. It is as simple as that. Viking posters get very sensitive when they have to actually look in the mirror and see the program staring back at them.
Northside is not going to get intimidated in the same manner that most metro Atlanta programs do when playing a program like Lowndes. Lowndes County is no more intimidating than playing a decorated program like Marist. Lowndes County is no more intimidating than playing a decorated program like Valdosta. Lowndes County is no more intimidating than playing a program like Camden County. Lowndes is certainly no more intimidating than playing a program like Warner Robins.
Northside plays these types of programs annually. Northside goes into this game playing a much, much more challenging schedule playing at Valdosta and against Carver-Columbus, who has more NCAA Division I prospects than Northside and Lowndes County.
Northside owns competition at the MAC. This is not trash talk…this is a fact. Why are Lowndes posters so sensitive about the facts. It is a fact that Lowndes has rolled into Warner Robins with similar, if not more, hype in the past. It is a fact that when Lowndes rolled into Warner Robins with so much hype that far worse Northside teams kicked the Vikings around.
It is very, very hard to beat top Georgia programs on the road. When you include travel, it becomes more challenging. Northside at Lowndes in 2008 is an example. Northside at Camden County in 2008 is an example. Lowndes County at Grayson in 2008 is an example. Peachtree Ridge at Lowndes County is an example.
Proclaiming that beating Northside at McConnell-Talbert Stadium is easy because we are the Lowndes County Vikings is borderline insane. If you struggle at Grayson High School, you are going to struggle at the MAC. End of story. Plowboy chatter intimidates Atlanta schools. We are perceived country in WR too.
Northside doesn’t lose to visiting teams at the MAC. That is not trash talk. That is a fact.

Be realistic as you usually are, RealisticEPFan- yes, you folks indeed brought a great crowd and nice sized band to fill the visitor side of Cantrell…but I highly doubt you had more in attendance than the home folks. Visitor stands seat around half of what the home stands seat and the Blue and Gold side was easily more than half full. Add in the students and band from the north stands and it was no contest.
It’s exaggerations such as your attendance comment that keep EP football from really getting the respect it deserves…many of the Raider posters seem to believe that making their program out to be more than it is is a good thing. Let your success on the field stand on its own.
A word to ENR, while I’m here: your comment a while back calling McEachern a “basketball school” shows a huge lack of knowledge on your part. For sure, we’ve been down for the past few seasons…but you must have jumped on the Eagle bandwagon after 1998. Otherwise, you would have actually been in attendance at Cantrell on that beautiful November night when the basketball school came from 21 down to beat your boys…and played for the title in Valdosta 2 weeks later. You were somewhat correct, though- we do tend to put a better than average hoops team on the court, both boys and girls. And the state title banners hanging in the gym reveal that we’re also a track and wrestling school, too.
