Can anyone say overrated? I can…Grayson!
This particular match up is no stranger to paid-off refs and cheap trick plays, so the final score displays no shock to me. The day that Grayson plays fair will be the day that their win and loss columns will look a little more equal (and accurate).

Union Grove needs more disipline on the field. I have NEVER seen that many penalties in one game as they had against Redan. You will NOT beat a MLK or Stephenson making those kinds of mistakes. Even though UG won 38-12 it was a horrible game with all the senseless penalties that could have been prevented. No disrespect intened for Redan but that game should have been at least 50-0!

Disappointed – The problem with Union Grove starts at the top. Last night they score twice on their first 3 plays and you start subbing players on your offensive. WOW! The offense never looked thee same after that. They were coached poorly and that showed in the penalties. We will get killed by MLK and Stephenson if the head coach doesn’t get his head out of his a@* and start worrying about the team rather then trying to be “pop star”. Dude thinks he is Coach Prospt formly of Hoover High. We have some major problems brewing in The Grove.

For all of the Bloggers that is still putting down Grayson, it should be noted that Grayson has beaten every team that was in question so far. No matter how you feel about their wins, they have won. Now I am just being fair here. I am from South Georgia where the football championships are obtained. But Grayson, and Peachtree Ridge are the two Baddest Football Teams in the Metro Area.

Parkview Forever, it sounds a lot like sour grapes on your part. Do you seriously believe a randomly assigned officiating crew could/would be paid off? I was not able to be at the game last night so I did not see the “trick plays” you decribe as “cheap” but I generally observe that people that think a play is a cheap trick are the ones that came out on the losing end of the play. When the play works for their team, it is a brilliant call.
SERIOUS GRAYSON HATER, I don’t know what has you so upset. It is a game for kids played by kids. The world does not revolve around high school football although it is great to enjoy and be involved in. Your anger appears to grow each week. Wouldn’t you much rather be for something instead of always against something?
A general observation for those that claim that Grayson squeeks by each week; a championship team is one that finds a way to win no matter what each week. The Grayson game plan, as others with a much greater feel for the game than me have stated, is to control the ball and run the clock while the defense shuts down the opposing office. This style of play will never consistently generate huge scores. At the end of the season, the win-loss column does not contain point totals, only win totals.
It is great to come hear and read the analysis of those who really watch GA high school football and offer balanced reviews, even when it is critical of the favorites.

parkview forever, do you seriously think that we paid off the refs to win your homecoming? especially when you haven’t beaten us in 4 years? yea that makes sense. and we only had one trick play, when ean threw to santry for a big gain. that wasnt cheap honey, your defense was committed to the run and left santry wide open. plain and simple. serious grayson hater, you have a grudge that seems to be out of hand, i suggest therapy. grayson does not play dirty what so ever, you are just jealous that we have had two great seasons and possibly beaten your team. grow up, thats football. we have been tested and have prevailed every time, we deserve to be #2, behind lowndes. id love to play the vikes again, hopefully in the dome

“Whatever”: I’m glad you said it, because coming from me it would have seemed petty — some of the Tucker players (particularly No. 1) were as poorly behaved on the field as I have seen in a long time. It is never acceptable conduct, but when you are losing badly it is just plain embarassing. And while I did not see Tucker’s coaches generally trying to control those poor sports, I think Tucker’s head coach is a very classy guy and suspect he would not condone that conduct. And you need to give Marist its full due — not only did Marist win decisively, but its players stayed classy.

I see a few comments about EP only beating marietta by 9 points, well, guess what, they didn’t score any so I think we are ok. The scoreboard wasn’t working at all, so I knew from the start it was gonna be a crazy game. However, throughout the game it seemed as though Marietta wasn’t making any effort to score points except for a 41 yard field goal attempt, that is the deepest they got to in Raider Territory. So if the opposing team looks as if they aren’t trying to score points and are just waning to keep it close, EP ran the ball the entire night except for 2 passes and thats it. No use in trying to extend the game by throwing incomplete passes and such, just keep it on the ground and get the heck out of there. So if you folks think for one minute Marietta put up a fight, NOT SO FAST!!!!! Look forward to making our first trip up to the woodstock area next week to play the Eagles from Etowah. Hopefully our defense can shut down that vaunted Split Back veer triple option offense. Should be a fun game to attend. I know the Raiders will be bringing a slew of folks.

Dont let the score fool you on the stephenson and newton county game. The score could of easily been 35-0. Stephenson killed their self with fumbles(i counted as much as 4-6 fumbles). Including one fumble that they had on their own 10 yard line that led to newtons only score. Also they had fumbles on drives that looked as if they were going to lead to scores. It rained hard but you still cant make those kind of mistakes against a very much improved newton county team that looks very good and no team in region 2AAAAA should overlook. Also penalties killed the jags as they had touchdowns called back of penalties and huge first down penalties on plays that newton was in a 3rd and long type situation. But they wont make any excuses as long as they win. This was though one of the slopiest games i ever watched period by stephenson. They are going to work out the kinks though in practice and get prepared for luella. Oh yeah and dont forget- Do not overlook Newton County.

Nobody’s talking about the Eagles from N. Clayton. There now 5-0 after beating a good Mt. Zion team 34-13. Mt. Zion scored both of their tds after the game was decided in the 4th quarter. They got a RB that wears #10 who should have been a super 11 player coming into the season. I guess i’ll just have to wait until they beat Griffin on October 9th, just like they did last year before the whole state starts to take notice.

I snuck a quick peak at the State 5A playoff brackets.
The coaching staff at Lowndes might want to think about losing a game to avoid going out in the State Quarter-finals.
It would be just awful to see Lowndes go out in the quarter-finals 2 years in a row.
I am pretty sure nobody in the State wants to go play Gainesville, no matter what division they are in.

Well I predicted the Marist-Tucker outcome. This does go to show how the rankings are meaningless except for school pride. Georgia Sports Writers Association, Maxwell Computer Rankings and everybody else says Tucker number 1. The Tucker coach however had stated that they should not have been ranked so high because they havea lot of inexperienced starters and it showed. Tucker has a chance to work out kinks for second half of season, don’t count them out yet.

The cream is starting to rise to the top in AAAA. I stated before the sleepers in AAAA are Hillgrove and North Clayton. Not much is being said about them but they have 2 solid programs. Marist, SWD, Griffin, all playing well and even Stone Mountain starting to get confidence. ant Tucker will work things out before its said and done. Some key games to be played in region 6AAAA in the second half of season, LET THE PLAYOFF POSITIONING BEGIN.

Although Lowndes County posters will not admit it, this is not the first “supposedly” unbeatable and top ranked Viking team to come and face Northside-Warner Robins at McConnell-Talbert Stadium. The last time the Vikings rolled into Warner Robins to face the Northside Eagles with this much hype was in 1997. Lowndes County could taste a second State Championship after waiting almost two decades to jump out of Valdosta’s shadow. The 1997 team was it!
The Vikings had run over teams like Camden County (35-0), Warner Robins (24-14), and beat a strong Valdosta team (14-7). After hangind 36 on Griffin in the 1st round, the Vikings came to the MAC feeling very good. The Vikings left the MAC is a similar way that the Vikings left Grayson last season, although the 1997 certainly left with more dignity. The Vikings had a perfect 11-0 record and faced a 7-4 Northside Eagles team. The result: Northside-Warner Robins 13, Lowndes County 10.
Vikings posters we are not the metro Atlanta program intimidated by a jersey. We face state ranked and nationally ranked powers annually. This is our life! Northside has not lost a regular season game to a visiting team in the regular season since September of 1996. At the MAC, we talk loudly and carry a GIANT stick!
Go Eagles!!!

Congratulations to Coach Tomberlin and the Valdosta Wildcats, who capitalized on two mistakes to beat the Warner Robins Damons. Valdosta 14, Warner Robins 7.
The Wildcats took a fumble and returned it 68 yards for a touchdown with 6 minutes left in teh game. As most of you know Warner Robins runs practically every play. The Demons took the ball at their own 2 yard line and drove the ball all the way down the field, in what appeared to be a game winning drive. The Demons fumbled and the Wildcats returned it to the house.

I’ m glad you think EP is gonna get smacked around by etowah. Because I went and watched etowah and mceachern play earlier this year and etowah doesn’t impress me at all. they aren’t very fast and they have some inexperienced players on that team. If they can survive the first 5 minutes of the ball game they might have a chance. EP beat etowah last year, when they had that offense going, well this year the offense is missing that power back that can break it on the dive play up the gut. I see EPs defense dominating this game, very much so like the Indian defense did back a few weeks ago.

TO ENR…….. What happened in the past is history, or were you taught that. You ran your trap all last year about what the Eagles were going to do to the VIKINGS. As I stated at the start of the season, this Viking team is the real deal. They played their worst game Friday against Tift and still won 50-7. This years team is not the Greg Reed Show. Each game we have had at least 2-100 yd. rushers. I hope your EAGLES bring their game Friday so you can’t make excuses of why you get beat.

Cowbell – I think you are wrong… maybe not fast, but there is more experience and discipline than you think. The McEachern game was a wake-up call for Etowah. Etowah has fixed a few things defensively. Just ask Woodstock. The winning score was Punt Return. Admittedly, our special teams has some work to do. If the Marietta D held EP to 9 points, then I expect a major defensive battle. Game ON! Etowah is spittin-mad after the loss to Woodstock so I expect them to come out fighting with no plans to let up until after the final whistle!
