@MhsRaider09.

I know my history. I remember those Walker brothers you had back then, but football is a "What have you done for me lately" sport and all I'm saying is you would probably place 5th or 6th LATELY. Programs in that region arent what they used to be.

Mt. Paran beat Locust Grove Friday Night and is now 4 - 0 in Division 1A. This was the game of the week for High5 Sports and was covered by the local TV station. I have not seen any scores for Mt. Paran this year in the AJC. It would be nice to see game results in the future. Our kids have worked hard to obtain this record and would be proud to see their name in the paper. Thanks.

Suwanee Ownz: Thanks for the info. I have been told that the new Lanier HS will take around 1000 kids from North when it opens which should drop the North enrollment to around 2200 students. Hopefully, when the realignment happens next year Collins Hill & North Gwinnett will get to play each other again after not playing this year & last.

Whatever: If your point is that Marist displays great pride and honor by choosing to play up two classes at AAAA, when it could play AA given its actual size, then yes your point has been made. I can't say why other private schools don't play up -- just like I can't say why Buford chooses not to play up either (and don't tell me that Buford does not recruit -- can you say Ryan Dillard?!).

Prepfootball:

Tucker-Marist will be a matchup of great talent that played poorly against an overmatched team (Tucker) against a team that doesn't necessarily have a bevy of great athletes, but has rock-solid execution (Marist). If Tucker can solve its problems with poor execution (procedure/offside penalties) and self-discipline (way too many PFs and unsportsmanlike conducts), it will be a heck of a game. If tucker executes and displays the lack of discipline that it did against Miller Grove, then it's going to be a looong night for the Tigers.

By the way, my beloved Monroe Area Hurricanes cannot lose this week. They're off.

Some people on here, Hopefully students and a few non football educated adult who run their mouths about 4aaaa this 5aaaaa that and why a 3aa team can't beat this 5aaaaa team.

East Paulding and Region FIVE are a very strong region and will only get BETTER EVERY YEAR. Most of the Coaches in Region Five are some of the states best if not the best. Times are changing

One last thing....... There's a little 2AA team ranked 59th of all teams in the U.S up north in East Tennessee that would run all over any team at any level in your almighty overrated football in Georgia,,,,,, PERIOD.

The Alcoa Tornadoes started as a small blip on the football radar in 2003, with consecutive State championships in 2004,2005,2006,2007,2008, they are a Force unlike anyone has seen from a small public school of 400 or so total enrollment. In all likelyhood the experts believe there dynasty will run for years to come.

BTW COACH REID of little ole east paulding STARTED HIS HEAD COACHING AT THIS SCHOOL

TrojanDude and BluEagle I'm not quite seeing the parity you are seeing in 1AAAAA. I see 5 playoff possible teams for 4 slots at this point.
Coffee, HoCo and Tift are not in that category, unless there is some serious improvement on their part. I know you want to see Coffee as one of them, but I'm not seeing it. Coffee is down this year too. Just not as far down as HoCo and definitely not as far as Tift has dropped.

Cannon rules, you are capitalizing a bunch of words but one key word you forgot to capitalize is "IF"
ya IF ya'll scored instead of fumbling ya'll would of probably won.
IF our running back didn't fumble giving EP the ball inside the 30 then your beloved raiders wouldn't of had the chance to drive the ball to the 3 and fumble...
GREAT GAME!!!!!

@ BERNIE MATT, K-MAN & MAYSALUM, I have the pleasure of teaching at MHS and I have to say that Bernie Matt is spot on. As much as I love working at Mays, those football players are terrible. And the sad thing about it is that they don't have to be. While I don't agree with all the coaches' decisions as a whole, it's not even really their fault. Check with some of the past coaches that have worked at that school. I'm not going to call out any names, but the problem goes much higher than the special teams, qb, defensive, and even head coaches. The problem is the culture of the school. When you pull the football players out of class to take them out to eat for a simple win, what do you think you are telling them? When a player has a problem with the coach and someone tells them that it is the COACH that has the problem what type of problem do you think you are creating? When things at the top change, we will get the disciplined team we deserve!!!!

Ed...I didn't say Marist, but noow that you mentioned it I did a little research. Seems like you are a 2A school. You are playing in 4A. That would be two classes, right? In essence, you just proved my point. Hooked on phonics worked for me. Not a private school hater, but all about fair play.

I dont think Harrison is that bad i just know that they lost some guys. I have confidence that EP will pull out a victory against Harrison. Is it that bad to have confidence in your team. I have seen Etowah play and i know there potential and Woodstock is a team that everyone in the region is scared of especially since EP has to go to both of those schools. I just dont see Harrison beating EP on our home turf

Cannondue, tick tick..gllooommm!! I was at the game and it wasn't that close when you factor in all the big Mceachern plays that were called back by the refs (most made up). Also, Mceachern turned the ball over too like E.P. East Paulding could not run straight at Mceachern so they had to resort to trick plays like numerous double reverses and such. Mceachern dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage and games are usually won in the trenches. I have played football (h.s. and college) and coached it too. The refs kept this game close. It was a dominate performance by Mceachern. No Doubt!!!! Get over it dude, your team is third at best in region 5 this year. All teams go thru a rebuilding process like E.P. Your team was better last year. For the record, the reason that E.P. beat Mays several years ago was because they had 9 starters suspended from their previous playoff game due to a fight with Cedar Shoals HS (I was at the game and witnessed the fight).

Harrison is still a team in training so to speak. Seems to be a lot more players changed out between play than usual. That could mean several things I suppose.

ok well for your comment about a weak region radier11soccer if you forgot we play in AAAA and your in AAAAA so your teams are going to be better well some of them. if i recall right you only beat Rome by 3 points and there are in our sub region but still it is our region. so i mean think what you want. By the Way Harrison is 3-0 in region play and have the Big guys coming up. i still think they will uspet someone. to early to tell but we will see. Do you think Harrison is that bad?????

Fayette County High School might be on their way to the playoffs if they continue to let the soph QB (Justin Murray) air it out. He seems to be able to spread the ball around, keeping the opponent on their heels.
Go Fayette !!

Pity Poor Monroe Area: I think you have it nailed, and frankly that is how it is every year -- Tucker (and SWD) has better athletes than Marist, but Marist is better coached and executes better. Last year, that is why Tucker lost the first game and why Tucker beat Marist when it mattered most. We'll see what happens this time around. I know that I would always rather have the best athetes at the high school level, but if the execution is really poor then a team cannot win.

And for those private school haters, two things: (1) Marist plays up, and in fact petitioned last time around to stay up at AAAA; and (2) Yes, private schools can take all comers, but with more rigorous academic requirements, not everyone who is a great athlete can be at a private school while every great athlete can be at a public school -- I think it evens out in the wash.

I agree with Trojan Dude, the parity between teams in 1AAAAA is closer than ever. I am looking forward to Lowndes coming to the Mac to play
Northside will be a barn burner at their home stadium.

Well it's been time for everyone to sit back and think about how the games went friday night. The McEachern game still seems to be getting a bit of talk, and I see some Hiram / Hillgrove folks getting in here. The fun is really starting now...

First one NO ONE "Thumped" anyone or ran over anyone as some McEachern folks have stated...Anyone who was ACTUALLY at the game knows this was a HARD fought fun game to watch that went back and forth with momentum shifting from one side to the other all night. REGARDLESS what anyone wants to admit to the game was still ON THE LINE with just over 4 minutes to go and EP on the McEachern 3 yead line. If EP had scored a TD here they would have gone up 28 / 24 and McEachern would have had about 3+ minutes to respond. That would have been an exciting finish to this game...BUT EP fumbled and McEachern recovered then made two GREAT plays and scored the winning TD for the 31 / 21 finish. BOTH teams moved the ball all night but EP's non-existent pass defense was the biggest reason they lost the game. McEachern has a QB with a VERY good arm and he made good passes all night. As I said earlier this was nothing but a good football game that either team could have won and McEachern was the better team friday night.

MARIETTA FAN...

You keep believing the post and what you "THINK" Marietta can do but this friday you will see how good EP actually plays. Friday's game at McEachern showed how good both these teams are, Region 5A-AAAAA is going to be McEachern, EP, Woodstock & Etowah at the end the only thing to decide is how they line up...McEachern RIGHT NOW has the best shot at finishing #1 but that could change (it would take to region losses) and EP still has to play both Woodstock & Etowah as away games so we still have a lot of football left.

I just do not see how any poster can be confident of which teams are going to win seeds in 1AAAAA. I firmly believe any team in 1AAAAA can beat ANY other team in 1AAAAA on any given night. And probably will.

Hey St Pius guy, you are a private school with close to 1100 students in grades 9-12. Since you can choose your kids from all over the metro area, if you want respect play up a couple of classes. I say even the playing field and play in 5A instead of 3A then come on here a brag. You should be running up the score on teams that have to play with what they get and within the budget they are dealt! Nothing to brag about if you ask me.

Good point 84 Viking. But there are also plenty of great games left in the regular season. It should be very fun to wath.

Didn't really mean to hold a private conversation, SouthGA, but ...

More was my neighbor. He was brought in to run Mumme's system when Dennis Roland left to coach at SouthEastern Lousiana. Turns out, that was not what he was running, so he didn't last. At least he made money on the fast turn of his house. Sphire is running a similar version of Mumme's system, and he has a permanent job.

Things may get tough again when the new High School is built. But I believe Sphire will continue to run a quality competitive program, and North's first priority is academics, anyhow. We are continuing to make major progress in academics, and the new High School will actually improve our ability to respond to the community's educational needs. By any measure, North is becomming a very successful Georgia High School.

You cannot even began to imagine how disappointing it was to see kids I coached in the North Little League chose to attend Buford to avoid Hammontree, but nobody blamed them. It is great to see our top talent stay at North, now. It is great to see the talent at Collins Hill stay there also. Too bad Duluth has been unable to take advantage of great home grown talent and great coaching at the little League level. It would be nice to see some corrections there.

It is a new era in the northern end of Gwinnett County. I am also pleased to see some incredible improvements at Flowery Branch and Gainesville. We are a long way from the historical dominance of State Football displayed in South Georgia. But we have a lot of great football games ahead of us that will be exciting to watch. Having played football in other states, I can honestly say there is nothing like Georgia football. It is exciting. It is fun. It is amazing that UGA lets so much talent escape the state. But that is a whole different story for a different day.

HiramHornets no where in my comment did say EP was the best team to walk the earth. EP doesnt have any respect and neither does Hiram for strating 4-0 im just saying you havent played anyone and the region you are in is weak(besides Hillgrove). EP has to fight in every region game just to win one of them.
EP is gunna be lucky for the 2 seed in region 5AAAAA or even to make the 4 seed.

Woodstock played Mceachern alot tougher than East Pauling. The main reason that the game was not a blow out was because of the excessive made up plenty calls by the refs. The officiating was terrible. Mceachern moved the ball at will with big play after big play (some were called back by the refs which kept the score close). Woodstock should not have a problem beating East Paulding because E.P is a third seed playoff team at best.

Marist/Tucker could be a great game. And it ought to be, but if Tucker is as sloppy and undisciplined as it was last night, Marist will romp. The Tigers are very good, but so are the War Eagles. I've seen them both, and from what I witnessed, Marist isn't as big, but executes better.

Radier11soccer how about all you stop trying to sound like your the best team to walk in the state of Georgia. couple good years doesnt make you king of the mountain. but i will say harrison is young but dont take them lightly. also hillgrove is a good team so it will be a good game. EP might be the 4th in the region im putting my money on an upset somewhere in the mix with region 5.

HiramHornets... I sure hope you are right! Harrison's defense played well last night, but the offense needs some work. I hope they rise to the occasion against Woodstock and EP. They should be great games anyway. I just don't see Harrison not making it to the play-offs. BTW, Hiram is awesome! They are definitely a force to be taken seriously.

Swamprat, Your obviously new here. SO welcome. Alot of people here respect ENR's post and views. And the glory of online blogging is that if you dont, yah dont have to read them. And his team is in region 1 AAAAA so he does play your "best in GA teams". Personally though I think that Region 5 and 1 are both pretty powerfull but that debate doesn't needed to be started right now.

Marietta Fan, as much as I love and respect ya'll for your hospitality last night and know how much of a power you used to be, this year you aren't the same team as '05 when you beat us in the first round of the playoffs. I really dont think your going to pull off an upset against EP.

Pops, Oh this is going to be a glorious week. The week where Woodstock doesn't dare go to Tacobell and Etowah wont go to McDonalds. The Battle for TLP is upon us =D.

Stephenson had a slow start and ware played a decent first half there were some questionable calls by the refs, but eventually stephenson wore ware down. Good game by both squads.

Perhaps you all missed what really was the best game in the state of GA last night. The Fayette County tigers and the Luella Lions battled it out all night on the wet field. Literally all night. The first half runs kinda slow ending in a 14-7 lead for the lions. Half way through the third quarter the Tigers find themselves down 21-7. But then came the Tiger deffensive. Holding Luella to two straight three and outs and not to mention two straight blocked punts giving the tigers great field position. And running back Kendell Palmore took advantage of it. The tigers rally and score 21 unanswered points taking a 28-21 lead with little over a minute left in the game. But Luella has a little bit left up their sleeve, scoring after driving through the air to tie things up at 28 at the end of regulation. Tigers get the ball first in Overtime. The lions quickly hold Fayette County to a three and out. So here comes the field goal attempt and it is blocked. So the lions take the field knowing all they need is three points to seal the deal and walk off with a W. And almost like an instant replay the Tigers then hold Luella to a three and out. And Luellas kicker misses the field goal as his kick is to low. So yes we have Double OT. and Luella starts with possession and Scores on a second and goal from the 1 yard line. BUT the holder for the extra point is Hit by Fayette County's Eric Lauderdale causing the score to be 34-28 Luella. So fayette county takes the field knowing this is it all or nothing. And the lions again hold the tigers to a quick three and out. So here it is 4th and inches to get a First and goal inside the five. And QB Justin Murray sneaks it and gets the first. On the following play RB Kendall Palmour uses agility and power to get into the end zone. So its all up to Kicker Ashton Hindman to win this game....Oh and let me add that Hindman has never played a game of football in his life, this is his first ever game as a football kicker. So imagine the nerves that the game would come down to him. The ball is snapped and he kicks a beautiful PAT and the Fayette County tigers rally to win the game. Fayette fans would rush the field picking up thir kicker and putting him high above the ground on their shoulders. What a night to be a Fayette Tiger and what a night for that kicker folks.

Want to apologize to all my fellow Grayson fans on this blog. Everyone is here to support their favorite teams and just have some fun. I let that get away from me on some of my previous blogs and I do apologize. All of our boys go out every week and play hard. Yes we should be supportive and competitive but let's leave the bashing at home. Sorry guys!!

TJ........ I have seen Grayson twice play in Warner robins last year and in Loganville this year and Grayson is a good squad . Im Not saying that Grayson needs to run the score up to prove anything ...But when you're ranked nationally and the # 2 team in the state . You are expected to have better wins against ,say Warner Robins who isnt ranked at all., and you win by a 10 point difference. We know now that the Demons defense is pretty good and still your kids put up good numbers ,, but the average joe won't look at the stats ,they'll only look at the score , even though the demons didn't move the ball at all ,a turnover or even a punt return or any special team TD from the demons and their right back in it...Your game against South Gwinntte a nationally ranked team isn't expected to trail a unranked team at any point of the game...thats all

Everybody needs to quit worrying about games they haven't even played yet & concentrate on the games at hand. There is no cake walk to the Dome this year.Everybody is vunerable to a loss at any given time during the season. If everybody stays healthy this season;there will be some great matchups in the playoffs. You cannot count nobody out at this point; way to early in the season.

Reeze, you are right. Long as they win I guess they are happy. I started to watch and support Grayson 4 or 5 years ago because they are in my backyard and Brookwood was same old same old. One thing I have noticed, they do not run up scores for one reason or another. I do not think it is their style to do so. But what is their style is defense and running. Their time of possesion was 33 minutes to South's 15 minutes. Total offense was 324 yards to South's 218 yards. Grayson's defense was exposed a little last night against spread. Their offense stepped up to the plate and surpassed South Gwinnett.

Ok, so Grayson STILL isn't good enough?
You said we couldn't beat Camden- We did-and then you blame it on their "rebuilding process"
You said we couldn't beat Warner Robins-We did- Then you say we didn't beat them bad enough so we must not be as good as everyone thinks.
You said South Gwinnett would upset us-They didn't-Then you blame it on bad calls- i was THERE and Grayson had JUST AS MANY bad calls. Being jealous never gets anyone anywhere.

Grayson is legit and will prove it as if we haven't already.

Viking Girl-
Thanks for the history lesson. We are excited to try to put our name among the greats in high school football. The school has only been around for 9 years. We're just trying to make a name for ourselves. You also make a good point about the other powerhouse programs like Camden & Warner Robins. By the way, we beat them too so Lowndes doesn't need to feel like we're hanging our hat on them alone. We're not claiming to be a historical powerhouse. Just hoping to win our next game--

ENR: Wheeler is the basketball school in Cobb, not McEachern.
SuwaneeOwnz: You are correct about the North/Stephenson matchups. I had assumed they were playoff matchups, but did see they were regular season games under Tim Hammontree. I know that the late Dennis Roland started the turnaround at North and Bob Sphire has taken the program to another level, but what happened to Coach Moore, who was there for 1 year before Bob Sphire took over. I guess the matchups with Stephenson should be taken about like the matchups with Buford. That was then, this is now.
Grayson basically has one hurdle to get over before they win the region & that is next week in the BIg Orange Jungle. That game will be on CSS for those who are unable to attend. Parkview has a good defense, having held a good Collins Hill team to 10 points, but Grayson's offense is more balanced. I believe a closer game than expected, but Grayson wins to stay unbeaten.

Trojan57.............Come on now , we all agree that Hoco's running game and defense is better this year, but we are talking about Hoco ,it will probably be a good fight between Tift and Hoco when they play for the bottom spot in the region.......Coffee's defensive battle with Hoco by no means solidify's Coffee for playoff spot in the region.....gotta say this is a first ,times must be really hard in Douglas........But I agree with you on one thing ...The Cats and the Demons.are back.....This is the Valdosta team that Northside hated and dreaded to play years ago,.....Hadn't see a team like this from Valdosta in years ......The Qb is fast and can throw pretty well ,lots of speed on both sides ,Rome and the recievers are good.....The Cats played hard ,they played to win , unlike the last couple seasons......This was the most excitng game for Northside since the Tucker game a couple years back.......Mad respect for The Cats.......Warner robins as well.....The Grayson folks may be right on....Warner robins defense is good....Malcolm Dixon the Qb is just as fast and has a arm just as good as the Valdosta kid ,plus they've got 2 or 3 backs that can kill a team......Lowndes will win the region ,but it won't be a cake walk .....ill agree with you Northside is not a gimme for the 2 spot.....2,3,and 4 will go to Northside ,Valdosta and Warner Robins ,no particular order........sorry man buy Coffee ,Tift and Hoco will be on the ugly ship looking out in November

Man-o ' LIVE...those mighty Griffin Bears broke out the BEAST CLAW Whooping Club against a gritty-tough Mt. Zion Jonesboro Team. I was WAAAAY off in my prediction of the Bears losing by 4. (I'll keep my day job I 'spoze!). An absolute BONE-CRUSHING stop on a critical fourth down for Mt. Zion just deflated all Bulldogs this side of Athens, and the crunching thud generated from the shock-waves probably flattened South Clayton County as well. Trust me, that one hit was YOU-TUBE good. (hrrrm...maybe...naaa) Great game on TV (watched the replay at home) and the Bears Den was ROCKIN and the fans were into it. I'd venture as far as to say Mt. Zion will still make the playoffs, they are that good of a team, but this week they were no match for the Bears Arsenal. GHS was really out for revenge and got it! Don't DARE overlook those mighty Griffin Bears. I sorta feel sorry for poor Forest Park next week.....just sayin...Get on Board the AIR-BEAR EXPRESS!!!

Great job Lowndes on the victory over Colquitt. That team has improved. This was a good test for our Vikings. Our defense held strong. All our guys played hard. Glad to have our guys back home next week for another tough region game against Tift. And Yo I agree with you, all of these games in the region will be tough so looking ahead to a Grayson/Lowndes rematch is just too far seen right now. Let's just take them one at a time.

Everyone predicted that Houston's RB would run wide on the Trojans,, didn't happen.... Yes it was raining, but I believe on both team..... right?
Secondly, to many of you are in dream world if you Northside WR will be #2.... isn't going to happen.... Lowndes #1, Coffee #2, Warner Robins #3 and Valdosta #4...
Remember bozs..... "it's defense that wins games" amd these teams have the best defenses in the region....

1-AAAAA Rules the only problem with a Grayson/Lowndes rematch is that the most likely scenario of it happening is in the dome for the championship. Even if they are the 2 best teams in the state it is going to be a tough road for "both" of them to make it.

Here is my prediction for 1AAAAA standings now that I have seen a little
of all teams. In this order of finish. Lowndes, Northside, Valdosta, Colquit. Warner will make a run but I see Colquit coming out ahead.

I think everyone is saying the same thing about Grayson and South Gwinnett game. The officiating sucked but when it is all done Grayson would have still won. Coach, it is Friday night, how are you watching the game? Recreation coach or Brookwood coach? Does not matter mark up another win for Grayson. Lowndes girl, does not matter about history, P. Ridge was double overtime game, Grayson has not been around that long so their history is now. Four years ago when Grayson started making the playoffs everyone was saying "Grayson who?" on these blogs, I remember. Now everyone knows them in Georgia, that is earning respect. Lowndes in my book and everyone elses is the #1 team and will be until somebody beats them, same can be said about the #2 team, Grayson. Playoffs will sort this out, that is what they are for.

RealisticEPFan...

We must have been sitting close to each other last night...I saw / heard the same EP fans screaming at the QB. I think a lot of it was in the frustration that he was NOT passing when he had open recievers (many times down the right side) and was holding the ball then trying to "make something happen" by running it himself. Several other times when he did pass it was late as he was scrambling away from defenders and didn't have time to set up. We have been a bit spoiled with the past few years at EP having a couple of guys who COULD pass and recievers who could make a bad pass look good. So far this year I am not seeing the same type passing game from either of our QB's. Just a thought! One other comment EP last night had NO PASS defense...NONE... and if we don't fix that FAST, the Etowah's, and Woodstock's still left to play us will have a field day!

By the way for the one's who keep calling last night "A BLOW-OUT" I call to your attention the headline in the AJC. below...

"McEachern hangs on, tops East Paulding
Indians improve to 4-0; Raiders drop to 2-1
By CHIP SAYE / For the AJC"

This doesn't sound like he thought it was anything but what it was a VERY CLOSE played game by two tough football teams.

This week Marietta at "THE BONEYARD"...time to get back on track!

The best finish had to have been the Paulding County/ Haralson County game.
Paulding rallied from a 35-7 deficit in the second half to win 36-35. PC scored 2 touchdowns in the final 3 minutes to win.

Okay first of all im one EP fan that isnt here to gloat or be a sore loser. All im saying is the EP vs. MCH game was a tremendous game!!!! Anyone at the game could tell you that both teams were trying there best. It just came down to mistakes and MCH got the best of EP's. EP wasnt expected to win this game so why is everyone in an uproar over the game. Yea we lost but we did better then anyone else thought. Everyone saying it was gunna be a blowout and everything we came so much closer then anyone else. Now for the rest of Region 5AAAAA

Rams Fan

On Grayson's first score, South had a defensive lineman Literally Tackled in the backfield as he was about to sack the QB

It wasn't called and the play was a touchdown

Wolverine fan

I am a coach, I do not need to prove that.

It was as a Coach, that I saw those things and was upset because I think of myself in that situation and therby realize how unfair some of the happenings were

Understand that it did not matter to me who won between Grayson and South Gwinnett....What I am most interested in is seeing two teams play on an EVEN playing field and let the best team win

Grayson if everyone on this blog keeps saying the same thing about your team then it must be true. Nobody is praising you guys but yourselves because your team still hasn't proven anything. So what you upset Lowndes last year? You guys still couldn't get it done. You lost the very next week. If it wasn't for us nobody wouldn't even know who you are. So really you guys should be showing us some love for putting Grayson on the map. The whole Grayson beat Lowndes saga is so old. Lowndes has won titles in 80' 99' 04' 05' and 07'. So my point is that don't be trying to just disrespect us like we don't have a legit program. Yes Grayson beat us last year and I have no problem with that. If you beat us, you just beat us. But what I do have a problem with is all the Grayson people talking like they are the team to beat in the whole state and that everyone else is chasing them. Last time I checked Lowndes is ranked higher than Grayson in every poll in the state and nationally. Grayson isn't getting much love on this blog because when the other programs like Northside, Warner Robins, Lowndes, Camden, and Valdosta whom all by the way have several state titles read about you guys at Grayson braggin about how good you are and how you beat Lowndes so now that must automatically make Grayson a contender for the title, well we all take that as a diss in AAAAA. Got to show us something is all I'm saying. I think most would agree.

Realepfan, finally someone who wants to talk intelligent football instead of outdated artillery. Ep has some really big kids (tall) kids on that D, a couple on the O, but the player that still sticks out to me the most is that #40(the smallest one on the field), what a great looking display he put on last night, and goes to show that the size of the heart in a player can make a difference.
I was however very concerned about the officiating in that game (on both sides of the LOS) Now for the one who says how can you see sitting up in the stands. There is holding on every play and last night, once an official keys in on a certain area of the playing field, the laundry will start flying. Several calls i question (as do most fans) but the pass interferance calls in most GHSA games is nonexistant. Some of us have been around awhile and are not ignorant to the game of football.
Anyway the 2 teams to watch in our region for this point forward are Woodstock and EP, regardless of where MHS is playing that weekend i will go see those 2 teams play each other, it should be a good one. I am not saying Etowah isnt good, but i think EP and Woodstock are better teams right now.

#25 for Stephenson has to be the most underrated RB in Georgia. This guy put on the Barry Sanders show with 4 TDs and about 150 yrds. I have to say this kid is a special player. The defense is solid too as usual. The score could have easily been 34-6.

Stephenson was hurt badly in the 1st qrt due to penalties. There was alot of questionable calls by the reffs. But anyway a win is a win. Final was SHS 34 Ware Co 13.

St. Pius beats Carver 42-7. Pius is lookin scary good. Hardest games upcoming are against Washington and Grady.

Defense allowed their first TD of the season on a busted play by Carver ha. That's just not acceptable.

"Coach"

Every South scoring drive was full of missed holding calls, defensive linemen literally getting tackled! The first drive of 3rd quarter, long pass play, the right tackle was 15 yards down field 3 yards away when the receiver catches the ball (now I'm not a high school coach like you but in my rule book that constitutes illegial man down field)- not to mention defensive end getting tackled on same play, big run backs on punts had clips that were not called- all directly in front of the officals. The waived off flag was a bad call initially. The call was a sideline infraction against the news crew- not Grayson affilates. The call should have never been made which was why it was corrected. Common on coach, are you sure you weren't just seeing what you wanted to see?

South is a great football team- probably the best offense Grayson has seen this season. They played a great game but Grayson won. I find it interesting that this forum is quick to say in the same breath that South is great team but Grayson is not that good. We did win by two scores didn't we?
