VIKINGSRULE THE TRUTH ALWAYS HURTS, BUT YOU STILL DIDN’T ANSWER MY QUESTION.JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION, HOW MANY KIDS HAVE LOWNDES PUT IN SCHOOL SINCE 2001 VIKINGSRULE. YOU CAN COUNT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP BUT NOT THE SCHOLARSHIP VIKINGSRULE.IS THEIR LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL IN LOWNDES COUNTY. WE KNOW YOU CAN PLAY FOOTBALL BUT CAN YOU MAKE SURE WITH EVERY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP YOU GET 10 OR 15 KIDS GET SCHOLARSHIP TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION,BECAUSE THATS WHAT WE DO IN THE NORTH. WE TRY TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY SENIORS HAS A CHANCE TO GO TO COLLEGE.WHETHER ITS D1,D2,D3,JUCO,OR NAIA.

I have a question, why is it that almost everyone, young and old, from bothe ends of the state, have to resort to calling names and putting the other down when they are winning? It is unsportsman like. I say this to both north Ga and south Ga. Why can’t everyone appricieat a good team? Why does the other have to call the winner names? This is not pre-school or is it? There are a lot of folks on here that always have bad things to say about the other guy when in fact by saying the things that they are saying make themselves and their team look even worse. After all this is a high school GAME. We are not in a grammer class. If this statement bothers anyone then my point is proven.

Ok ok ok, all this Grayson is overated and Lowndes is the best. look Lowndes in The Powerhouse of Georgia an Grayson is the Powerhouse of Metro Atlanta, But both teams need to focus on there own schedules because they dont play each other when playofss come around then u can talk but till then we can just keep watching and see what happens. by the way someone in region 8 needs to step up and put up a fight against the Rams, I say The Comets will do that in week 4.

Anyone notice that Todd Holcomb has yet to show his Peachtree Ridge hyping soul on this board? WHERE’S TODD? Can someone find Waldo? I know that he is crunching the numbers seeking yet another metro Atlanta team to hype. Or worse, building a credible excuse for a P-Ridge program that finally saw the light of playing in Region 1-AAAAA. Hey you simply bought into the Peachtree Ridge Kool-Aid. You should still come around and play (blog…post your pro-metro Atlanta opinions). Of course, there are AAA and AA programs in this state that would give Lowndes a better game than the team that Todd proclaimed was the best in Atlanta. Don’t hide Todd. It can not take that long to eat Atlanta high school football crow.

TrueBlue, I don’t really understand your rhetoric, but I am gathering that you want to know how many black kids go to college on football scholarships. I am pretty certain that Lowndes doesn’t keep a running tally on that, but I do know that down here in Hooterville we have the opportunity to use something they call the HOPE GRANT. If a student has a good enough GPA in high school, they can go to college for free! I have had three kids go to college this way and none of them ever touched a football. I’m going to go out on a limb here, but I think that folks down here in the boondocks consider the football players as a team or family, not as black or white. If one of the kids gets a Div 1 scholarship or any scholarship for that matter, we all are proud, whether they be black or white.

True Blue, you are obviously from metro Atlanta. If you had an opportunity to see the top local college game of a team from the state of Georgia history, you were sitting in downtown Atlanta on the campus of Georgia Tech. The quarterback throwing multiple touchdown passes was Jacksonville State’s sophomore quarterback Marquez Ivory, who led Northside-Warner Robins to back-to-back state championships.
If you would like to have this conversation with someone from Warner Robins, I would happily talk about the guys and the number of guys that play in college programs across the nation, if you think that someone from Lowndes is dodging the question. Northside has won two State Championships and Warner Robins has one in the past 5 years. Along with our other local high school, Houston County HS, there are players starting in practically every major conference in the nation over the past 5-10 years. Team captains in programs like Georgia, Florida, Clemson, Notre Dame, and USC (Southern Cal).
If you are attempting to suggest that players from top tier programs outside of Atlanta are filled with kids who then fail to make it to the next level, I will happily have that conversation and you can compare your school to schools in Warner Robins. I will take it one step further. Let’s then compare the number of guys who then make it into the NFL. You are barking up the wrong tree. There are programs like Thomas County Central and Warner Robins HS that have had 6-8 alums in the NFL…playing on Sundays (not just on rosters)…at once.
I will take the Region 1 in the five classications of Georgia and then I will give you all of metro Atlanta. I will take Region 1-AAAAA, Region 1-AAAA, Region 1-AAA, Region 1-AA, and Region 1-A. You can have every school, no matter what classification in all of metro Atlanta. You might be surprised if you want to play this who sends guys to college and the NFL game.
CAN SOMEONE FIND TODD HOLCOMB, the guy who claimed that Lowndes-Peachtree Ridge would be a classic?

Lowndes is the good. Best team in the state. Even better at home.
Peachtree Ridge is not over rated.
North Gwinnett is getting better each week. Week ten against Peachtree Ridge should be interesting.
Look for Lowndes, Grayson, Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett to make the semi finals.

HELL CAMDEN COUNTY WON STATE AND THEY HAD OVER 15 KIDS TO SIGNED. IS PLAYING FOOTBALL MORE IMPORTANT THAN FURTHER YOUR EDUCATION. DO LOWDNES EMPHASIS ACADEMICS,BECAUSE WINNING PROGRAMS SCOUTS FOLLOW.

TrueBlue you are making the argument of a “I have to find some way to be better than Lowndes” loser. To answer your question, yes, if a kid wants to go on and play football at a lower level and a NAIA school or whatever school wants them, then the coaches help to get them a scholarship. Of course at Lowndes we do expect our kids to actually graduate as seniors first. Lowndes had very few seniors last year. Valdosta (I believe) didn’t have an abundance of seniors but did send a number to smaller colleges besides the 2 they sent to Ga and Ga Tech.
Lowndes will have more going to college than you can name after this year. Many will be Div1 and even more will be smaller colleges. Let me give you a small math lesson, if you don’t have 10 or 15 seniors graduate from your football team that want to conitune playing football every year, then you can’t put 10 or 15 on a football scholarship. As viking lover has stated, some of our football players choose to give up football after high school (Hope, etc.). The real question is does the kids in your school (including your football program) have the grades to get a scholarship without having to continue playing football. You do understand it only takes a B average in Georgia, I hope.

Trueblue, you keep ranting and raving about whether or not Lowndes County puts kids into college. You claim that is “what you do up north”. Have you read your posts at all? Your grammar,syntax,spelling,subject-verb aggreement and sentence structure really do not reflect just how well educated you have become up there. Really kid, find some other way to vent your frustrations because written communication is not your forte’. If you have any questions about what I just said, ask your English teacher or refer to Webster’s dictionary.

Vikingsrule,All I want you to do is answer the question. Vikingrules can you answer the question instead of talking about my grammar. My grammar doesn’t have anything to do with getting kids into school. My grammar doesn’t have anything to do with preparing young kids for the next level. Like I said earlier in this blog , McNair in the last 4 years 60 scholarships. We know everybody can’t go to the NFL , but you can major in anything in college and get a degree. We play football because we love the game and if you play it well and have the grades{FREE EDUCATION}.

Very few kids anywhere get a true free education in football or anyother sport. Most of the scholarships are partial one. Schools are given so much money each year for scholarships and they spread the money out to get as many players as possible. When you are told that a kid got a scolarship you need to ask if it is a FULL scholarship because they tend not to tell you that you will have to pay room and board, food and books. We all know that this can cost thousands more. Not all kids want to play football after highschool, but get acidemic scholarships in the olace of a football one. but still again it is not always a “FREE EDUCATION”.

I knew the ridge was somewhat overrated when Southwest scrimmaged them and we shut their varsity out 7-0 they had no real chance of beating us with their offense I will go out on a limb and say SWD has one of the best if not the best defenses in the state. Challenge me on that. Peachtree is big and thats about it I really thought they would whoop us but nope their large line man and big backs were way too soft for us not to take advantage.

It has been difficult to find stats online but here is what I can tell you.. Lowndes has 3 players at or already commited to FSU one player commited to UGA one player looking at Tech and UGA many at VSU and thats just football. You find a school around the south and most likely you will find a Lowndes grad. We have a finalist for teacher of the year and principal of the year. And since color is obviously important to those of you that say we “country folk” can’t move on.. 2 Lowndes students were recognized in the NAtional Achievement Scholorship program for promising young BLACK students. MAny kids from Lowndes go to governor’s honors every summer. I am proud of my education that I recieved at Lowndes High and I believe that it helped my go far beyond football. by the way i played… i didnt recieve a scholorship in football i knew i wouldnt i wasn’t a football player I went to college on an academic scholorship to Georgia Tech a US News and World Report top 100 college I graduated with a 3.9. I think that you could say that I am proud of my team but prouder to say I am a Lowndes Grad because of the ENTIRE school not just the football team.
