Your comments are great however during your ranking last year for 4A. One of our guards Sheldon Strickland was one of the top point guards in the region however he was not mentioned amoung the first team nor the honorable mentioned in AJC. He made 1st Team 4A-Region, averaged 20.3 points per game, quick as lightening but not even mentioned. Ranked as the #4 player in Dekalb for 2008-2009 school year. He actually lead his team in defeating “The State Champions” last year and we all know who that team was, Miller Grove Middle School. In that game the kid had 9 assists.
I guess the basketball association knew better they actually awarded him 1 st team all state along with Udofia. By the way Lakeside should be ranked higher than #7. My opinion . Go Vikings.

I know it’s football season but could someone confirm that Khaalidah Miller is the highest ranked player in the state and the only national ranked player in Georgia in the top 10 in her position (SG,6th in the nation).Who is this kid and what is the criteria for Miss. I am really disappointed that Nickki Winn did not make the All State Team Player as a lot of other fans are also. She has always given all she had to this sport, and it was proven on the court, she is a team player, very deserving of this honor, which she should have gotten. I guess the Mountain schools just doesn’t get the recognition they deserve. Nikki can give any player a run for their money when it comes to basketball.

kwan34-Just read USA TODAY thats all the research you need to do it’s in every state, Wal-Mart, QuikTrip,7-11, etc.They have a NATIONAL TOP 25 HIGH SCHOOL B-BALL POLL. They also have a regional top ten poll.SOUTH ATLANTA is ranked 13th nationally and #2 in the south. LISTEN! The TALENTSNATCHERS of Wheeler and Norcross are not ranked in either poll. THE SOUTH ATLANTA HORNETS are the only team in the state of GEORGIA ranked in either poll. KWAN, Centennial? Check their 1st game of the season they were down by 40, can you say MERCY RULE! S.ATL emptied the bench 2 of the cheerleaders even got minutes. ZONE 3 CITY BOYZ!

I agree with the Nomination of Nikki Winn from Towns County. She is a deserving, solid player. She is absolutely one of the best all-around players I have ever watched (and I have spent many years in a gymnasium). I’m sure her stats could match and surpass many that are being considered for this nomination. She’s a great player and deserves the nomination.

Dublin has 2 Div.I prospects..
Wheeler probably has 6 or 7. Miller grovon the other hand has a handful.Im pretty sure it isn’t how it seems. Fublin definably has a great team, that should be ranked a little higher, and needs some national exposure, but don’t get lost, they aren’t known for always having the best program you also have to look at that!

Ryan LeGates led his team to the State Title game averaging 23 points per game over the 5 game state tourney while at the same time leading his team in assists. Previously had led his team in region semi scoring 20 points(11 in 4th Qtr to lead comeback and 50-49 win against Decatur)to get BT to region championship where he scored 20 points in a loss to GAC.

I second the nomination for Nikki Winn! The girl can play basketball! I’d like to see ANY guard…in any classification…try to beat her in one-on-one. Nikki has got moves that guys only wish they could make! I’ll miss watching Nikki play high school ball…but am looking forward to watching her college career!

Did you know that they play basketball north of the Perimeter??
Beleive it or not, their is good quality basketball played in North Georgia in many classifications! Class A has more teams in it than Wesleyan and they are home grown products. You need to put Nikki Winn from Towns County on the All-State Team, she mad it last year as a Junior and was even better this year as a Senior. She scored 1870 career points for the All-Time Scoring Leader at Towns. Here are some of her stats and accomplishments:

You guys still refuse to Carrollton’s girls the credit they deserve. You put a girl in your All State convo from Rutland who was outshined badly by Janyce Ealey from Carrollton. Ealey had 33pts in the semi-final head-to-head matchup with Grant. You didn’t pick them for the Final Four and you still find ways to disrespect. Go ahead, keeping looking like an idiot.

Todd, the Dade County guard tandem of Andrew Houts and Travis Core is as good as it gets
at the AA level. Both are underclassmen but deserve some consideration when all-state teams
are put together. Houts a jr. might be the best pure shooter period with unlimited range and one of quickest shots in the state and has the numbers (26 ppg 4stls) to back it up. Core, a soph., may have a liitle better all around game, scoring in the mid teens, 8 apg and 5 stls. What make these guys special is that they play every play like it’s their last…

Way to get the ladies in there Todd! BTW, do you have any idea when they will begin discussion Coach of the Year? I’ll throw my AAAA girls vote for Kathleen Richey-Walton of SW DeKalb again. Most thought this would be a rebuilding year for her. She had two ‘ugly’ losses to Marist this season (a VERY good team). Somehow they kept it together and ended up defeating the nationally ranked and undefeated Fayette County team (which defeated Marist). Props to her and the fine program she runs….

Ummmm… http://prepnation.com/poll/poll.cfm?poll=2&year=2008&week=17. According to prepnation.com, I don’t see anyone ranked from the State of Georgia, but Wheeler. They’re #9 in the Nation, and #1 in the Southeast. They play the toughest schedule, by far, than ANYONE in the State. I don’t want to hear about how schools from smaller/lower classifications could or would beat them… it just wouldn’t happen!

Kenny Hall is the real deal, if you don’t recognized now, you will next year when he is starting for Tennessee. Jordan Price for Columbia is the best freshman in the Nation and should be on the list for top players in AAA.

Dublin would not beat everyone in the top ten, they lost to collins hill buddy! Miller Grove, Centenial and S. Atlanta would smash them! who on dublin would stop favors?? Miller Grove’s backcourt is better than dublin’s as well. Udofia is only the state’s best PG and #5 in the country. you really can’t be serious. I hate when the small schools beat up on nobody’s now they are great. just be happy with your title and be glad that you didn’t have to face Miller Grove.

First off, Dublin would beat every team in your top ten with maybe the exception of Wheeler and that’s no guarantee. Rashard Smith, Chris Smith and Sherrard Brantley are the best back court in high school basketball. Jacksonville State could only beat them by 14 points over the summer. How many high school teams can say that? NONE!!!!

Not many people have heard of Tanner Reno from Northwest Whitfield but he is one heck of a guard. He broke the school record for three pointers this year. I think he hit around 85 or so. Averaged around 18 points a game. Just a suggestion.

And if you publish a girls team, Quaneisha McCurty(Northwest Whitfield) is a no brainer for all-state.
