Georgia OL prospect winding up world tour at Alabama’s spring game

North Gwinnett’s Jawuan James, one of the nation’s top offensive lineman, is finished with his world tour. Well, almost. James, who has nearly 30 scholarship offers, plans to attend Alabama’s spring game on Saturday.

Over the few weeks, James has traveled from coast to coast. On the west side, he went as far as Nike Country, i.e. the University of Oregon. Somewhere along the way, James also stopped by UGA, Tennessee and Florida.

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound James has a stack of scholarship letters and says his top five are Alabama, UGA, Florida, Tennessee and Oklahoma. And he’s really liking the Gators after spending five days in Florida last week over spring break.

“I got to see [Urban Meyer] every day,” James said. “He said they really like me, and need athletic offensive tackles. He said that don’t have a true tackle-sized person … they didn’t have another lineman on their team that was both as big as me and as athletic as me. They said I was on the top on Florida’s list for [offensive linemen].”

James got to see the trophies and rings for Florida, the reigning BCS champions. “I liked how all the coaches were hyped up and into it. It was a championship place. All they talk about at Florida is perfection. They want perfection in every play in practice, just in everything they do.”

    UGA man

UF has a QB and a coach who will both be gone in 1 or 2 years. QB to the pros and the coach to Notre Dame. UGA has great QB depth and a great coach and human being that will be here. Friends and family can much more easily watch and support a Georgia prospect when they attend UGA. For those who cannot attend the games, certainly media coverage in Georgia focuses on in-state schools, not UF or any of the others outside Georgia. Wherever this prospect goes, he will do well. All the schools he has zeroed in on are good academically. He can be a Georgia hero that went to UGA or he can be that guy from Gwinnett that went somewhere out of state to college. I hope he chooses UGA and wish him well whatever he decides to do.

I love the way these UGA fans come on to these blogs and bad mouth other programs just to beg for recruits. Pathetic. These young men can see for themselves what the real deal is and the real deal is Florida. Nobody recruits and develops to potential top notch talent like Pope Urban.

Better education at Florida? What happened to Percy Harvin, wonderlic score of 12 and smoking weed?

Congratulation Mr. James. You will be successful where ever you go. Urban Meyer said he is looking for someone like you, everyone is looking for someone like you.

Stay at home and be a hero. Be a Bull Dawg for life!

UGA man, Tennessee fans feel the same way about Marlon Brown as you do about this kid. Just because they leave the state doesn’t mean they won’t do well. I wish him the best wherever he goes.

How come every kid Carvell writes about is “one of the nation’s top” whatever…And, the kid says “Urban Meyer]… “He said they really like me, and need athletic offensive tackles. He said that don’t have a true tackle-sized person … they didn’t have another lineman on their team that was both as big as me and as athletic as me. They said I was on the top on Florida’s list for [offensive linemen].””

Poor kid – he does not understand that Urban and the rest of the coaches with whom he has met or will meet, including CMR, says the same thing to EVERY recruit that they meet! Reality is going to be oh so hard when he gets whereever he is going!

Urban Liar is at it again, telling this kid that they do not have any lineman as big and athletic as him, all you have to do is read Tony Barnhart’s report on the gators from last week spending time with them.

[...] Jawuan James to attend A-Day Here is the AJC article http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-footbal…s-spring-game/ Says that his top 5 are Bama, UGA, UF, UT, and OU. Sounds pretty high on UF after a trip there. [...]

It really is pathetic isn’t it . You should read the comment sections when Bama pulls a committment from one of these kids . Dawg fans going berserk , talking trash , screaming “Wait till next year (The Bulldog Battlecry lol ) … all the while forgetting that basically NO ONE outside Georgia ever really expects much from their program to begin with .

The Dawgs are PERHAPS one step above Auburn and about 5 steps below any number of powerhouse programs … and they still don’t get why “next year” never arrives ;-)

Actually alot of people “outside of Georgia” expected something from our UGA program this time last year….maybe the reason why they were pin pointed as pre season #1 last year. I would think that validates people out side of the state of Georgia expecting the UGA football to do something…..maybe…..maybe…anyone….Bueller….

So I’ll jsut take your comment above as a really lame post on trying to rib some of us UGA fans….much like our UGA season last year as I can admit….NICE TRY

Crimson Crush….What world are you living in? Bama fans and their short memories crack me up. You have had ONE really god year since Stallings left. It has been a really long time since Bama could be considered a powerhouse! Just like you pointed out with UGA, Bama has lost the luster it had 20 or 30 years ago. LSU is considered the strongest team in the West on a year in, year out basis. Hell, it took 7 years to beat the Auburn team you are slamming. People seem to be infatuated with Saban, but not so much with Alabama. The last I checked Alabama lost it’s last two games. The Utah game embarrassed the conference on a national level. All it took was losing one offensive lineman to completely fall apart. One good season in a really long time.

Gotta love the way UGA backers come on the recruiting blogs and trash other schools. Keep talking smack. Last year’s Black-Out affair in Athens turned into a Blow-Out because of your propensity to trash talk.

Nick Saban & Urban Meyer are outworking Saint Richt at every turn. The scores on the football field don’t lie.

G Davis, your right we lost out last two games. The Florida game we lead into the 4th Qtr and lost to the National champ. Utah game we didn’t show up with our usual intensity and it cost us. That extra motivation for this year. You might want to spend more time worrying about your own program (The Michigan State of the South).
