Gainesville wide receiver Tai-ler Jones, who will announce his college decision on Thursday, has Notre Dame among his finalists.

There’s a good reason. His father, Andre Jones, played linebacker and defensive end for Notre Dame. The younger Jones has narrowed down to UGA, North Carolina, Stanford, California, UCLA, Ohio State and the Fighting Irish. He is one of the nation’s leaders in early scholarships offers with 32.
“Notre Dame is a great school … and I know that because my dad says that about every day,” Jones said with a laugh.
“He tells me all the time about his experiences, and how the college life and connections you make at Notre Dame are different than any other school in the country,” Jones said. “It’s like one big brotherhood, and they all help each other out.”
Jones said he feels like better days are ahead for Notre Dame, which posted records of 3-9 and 7-6 over the last two seasons under Charlie Weis. “Because they are Notre Dame, they are going to get the recruits to help them succeed. In any given year, like when my dad signed there, they can have a great year in recruiting and then compete for the national championship.”
How would Jones feel about following in his father’s footsteps? “It’s a great feeling for my dad for me to recruited by Notre Dame. It’s his alma mater, and I know he’d love to see me run out of the tunnel in the blue and gold. They’re one of my top schools.” Jone attended one Notre Dame game, last year’s matchup with Michigan.
Notre Dame has been quiet with its recent recruiting efforts in Georgia, signing only one prospect from the state over the last three years. Jones visited Stanford, California and UCLA last week over spring break. He claims no favorites and will commit on Thursday at Gainesville High.

TJ go to a school that is going to give you a degree that means something! Georgia is not that school and it is not recognized outside of the South. You have several good academic choices available, and if you make that choice based solely on football or the potential for a National Championship, again Georgia is not your choice! Especially as long as Flordia is in the SEC. Georgia will NOT be winning any national championships, then what are you left with….a Bull Sh*t degree from UGA. GO USC!!! That is the “Real” (USC) the University of Southern California not South Carolina!

I hope the kid goes where he wants to go period but being an Irish fan living in Georgia I feel I’m entitled to my 2 cents. Both schools have great football programs past and present. Georgia leads the series 1-0 (Not much of a series I know). Notre Dame has the better academics period. The deciding factor is the fans. While ND fans are eternally optmistic probably to a fault, most Georgia fans are nothing but stupid rednecks who have an IQ slightly lower than a rock and wouldn’t know how to properly cheer their team on even if it was taught on a kindergarten level! I know this because on of their own who was a class act described them as basically animals! That person you ask? None other than Lewis Grizzard! He said that Georgia’s win over Notre Dame for the 1980 national championship was flawed for 2 reasons. 1)Notre Dame shouldn’t have even been there. They were 9-1-1 going into that game. Pitt, NC or several others should have been there, with that said though it took everything Georgia had including final minutes heroics to beat the Irish. 2)That the behavior of the Georgia fans was so God-awful he was EMBARRASSED to be associated with Georgia football! Drunken, worthless excuses of fans who just needed a place rather than a reason to act out! He went on to praise the Irish fans for their civility. NOTHING HAS CHANGED ABOUT THEM IN THE LAST 29 YEARS AND THATS WHY NO MATTER WHAT NOTRE DAME WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER THAN THE BULLDOGS. THE IRISH ARE A CLASS ACT AND GEORGIA ISN’T AND NEVER WILL BE!

ND HAS A ROTTEN PROGRAM AND WILL NEVER BE A POWER AGAIN NOT AS LONG AS THE SEC IS AROUND. HOWEVER, THE AURA WILL ALWAYS REMAIN FOR KIDS LIKE THIS ONE. PLUS THE FACT THAT DAD WENT THEIR MEANS ALL THE WORLD TO HIM. SO GO AND HAAVE A GOOD TIME KID.

welll, im thinking this kid is all Bulldog, but the article does make it look promising for ND. hope he comes out and plays for the Irish. Urban should be offered the job at ND if charlie doesnt produce, but i do believe he will produce good results the next two years and save his ass. i was one who definately wanted him fired after the fiasco that was last season. We will all find out in less than 24 hours.
