Alabama’s Nick Saban rolls into Georgia for 2010 prospects

Alabama’s Nick Saban dampened UGA’s national championship hopes last year. Now Saban is returning to the state to inflict more damage.

Gainesville QB Blake Sims is the latest 2010 prospect to pledge to Alabama. Sims picked the Crimson Tide over UGA, Michigan, Tennessee and West Virginia, among others.

Alabama has as many commitments from the state as Georgia Tech (3), and more than UGA (1). The other Tuscaloosa-bound prospects are North Gwinnett OL Austin Shephard and Westside-Macon WR Ronald Carswell.

The big questions are these: Now that Saban is scoring big early in Georgia, will he be able to finish as strong as he started with recruiting? And will he be able to hold on to the commitments he has? So far, so good.

UGA touched base with Sims this week, asking if he wanted to take another look at the Bulldogs. “[Assistant John Jancek] wanted me to come down there, so they could roll out the red carpet like Alabama did for me last weekend,” Sims said. “I told him thanks for the invitation, and I appreciated it. It was hard to turn down Georgia. I grew up a Georgia fan. I’ve been good friends with [Mark Richt] since my freshman year.”

“But I’ve already picked my school, and I’m going to keep my word because [Saban] gave me his word.”

Saban closed the deal with Sims at a dizzying pace. It was the stuff of recruiting legends. Last Wednesday, Sims said West Virginia, Michigan and UGA were his top three choices. Thursday, Alabama offered out of the blue. Friday, Sims talked to Saban for the first time in his life. Saturday, Sims visited Alabama for the first time. Within a few hours, Saban had Sims so fired up he was ready to learn words to the school fight song.

“Coach Saban showed me love, lots of love,” Sims said. “He let me know I was very important to the future of Alabama football. I was head over heels about the place. I surprised myself by committing. I just looked up and asked God to help me with my college decision.”

The quick commitment by Sims abruptly ended a long travel itinerary for his family over spring break. They were headed to West Virginia the next day, and then Michigan by the end of the week.

However, the recruiting journey has just begun for Sims, along with rest of Alabama’s seven overall commitments. As with all the top prospects, Sims will be pursued by other schools until he signs the scholarship papers in February. He got 11 letters from colleges on Thursday, including hand-written cards from coaches at West Virginia and Michigan.

Nice start by Nick Saban with next year’s recruiting class, especially in Georgia. We’ll see where everything stands in 10 months.

Good luck to Mr. Sims, I hope he does stick with his commitment. I am a UGA alum and would love to take all the talented kids in the state but the fact is, there is no way UGA and GT can take all the good ones. Some are going to get away for various reasons. I wish him well except when/if he plays against UGA. It appears both in state schools will have pretty small classes this upcoming year so I would imagine a lot solid players in this state will leave to play college ball.

Nick Saban looks like a used car Salesman. Anyone who wants to play in the state of Alabama isn’t who I’d want any ways. Just don’t come back to Atlanta after “graduating” and expect to find a job.

The truth is that bama promised him that he would stay at QB and promised early playing time. UGA is recruiting him as a DB not QB. He seems to be a good athlete and wish him the best and hope Saban isn’t lying to him.

Lot’s and lot’s of promises being made in Bama. sometimes Richt doesn’t get certain kids because he is not going to tell them something that’s MIGHT NOT HAPPEN. Ask yourself this, if SIMMS turns out to be just average, and a lot of these kids do, You think he will be the starting QB at Bama. CMR tells them, you earn it, it’s yours. wonder if Saban told Simms that ?

I think it is becoming as obvious to these Georgia kids as it is for everyone else: the Georgia Bulldogs max out at just above average. So the question is simple. Would you rather go to Geogia and have above-average seasons for 4 years, or come to Bama who just won 12 games with the worst team they will have for the next decade?

PS: we are still laughing about how excited everyone was to dress up in their little black outfits for a football game last year. That was cute. I thought it illustrated well that in Alabama we love football, rather than dress-up time.

Carvell, isn’t that headline a little misleading? Yes, Simms is a top prospect but to say that Saban is getting the top recruits out of GA is misleading. Congrats to Saban for beating out UAB for Shepard and beating out East Carolina for Ronald Carswell, not exactly big boys knocking down their doors. theTRUTH is these guys aren’t even in the top 300 players in the country. But I am sure Saban will sign another 30 (like the last two years) just to bump up his ranking instead of thinking about the kids he will have to kick off the team.

The difference in Richt’s 13-1 record and Meyer’s is that Meyer made his count. Richt’s 13-1 is not more relevant than Tuberville’s 14-0 or even Saban’s 12-2. No NC was won.

There is no reason that AU should not have played for the NC since they went undefeated in the SEC. No TEAM in the SEC that goes undefeated should be left out regardless who it is. Any time you win a NC with even one loss, YOU ARE LUCKY to get in and it’s a popularity contest.

Coach Saban did not promise Sims early playing time, he promised him the opportunity to compete for the qb position. Blake Sims is not stupid, he is totally aware of the competition at the position. Sims is also aware of the fact that he is likely not the only qb that Bama will sign this year. The state of Georgia usually produces more quality players than UGA can accomodate and Auburn and Tenn have traditionally signed those players, but today Alabama is getting them because, well because we have Coach Saban.Best of luck to all, please be civil.

Bama will get tested this year without QB John parker Wilson. Not the greatest skills in the world, but he was a winner. Bama will miss him. I for one am looking forward to Joe Cox. Matt had the big arm, but I think Joe will manage the game better. Georgia went three and out a lot last year because of his arm, and of course our D couldn’t catch their breath. Show some class Georgia fans, so the kid didn’t want to go to your school big deal. That happens all the time in recruiting. What I don’t understand and don’t like is why fans of certain schools including Alabama puts down a kid if he doesn’t choose to go to your school. Sounds like to me if UGA would have rolled out the red carpet early on, this kid would be a Bulldog. Respect his decision and move on.

    JT

    10:33 am

I genuinely hope it works out for this kid. While it is hard to go wrong with a free ride to Bama or any SEC school for that matter, it sounds like this kid got some poor advice from his family and coaches — if the details described in this blog are correct. Let’s recap. Supposedly, this kid grew up a Georgia fan and as of last Wednesday, “West Virginia, Michigan and UGA were his top three choices.” On Thursday, “Alabama offered out of the blue.” On Friday, “Sims talked to Saban for the first time in his life.” On Saturday, “Sims visited Alabama for the first time.” So, over the course of 4 days, you decide to drop your top 3 choices, without taking official visits. You meet someone for the first time in your life and visit a school for the first time in you life — as school that was not in your top 3 — and you decide to commit on the spot. Again, it is hard to go wrong with Alabama. However, it would seem as though this kid would have some adults in his life who would have calmed him down and encourage him to relax and not make an emotional decision about where he is going to spend the next 4-5 years.

Lots of different approaches to gaining commitments from these kids. Texas, (and several others) clearly goes for the gettum buzzed up and emotional and get the quick commit while they are all excited. Works lots of times with these kids. Then they are treated as part of “the family” and shamed into honoring their decision if they even consider changing their minds. The kids generally feel pretty good about their decision as they aren’t mature enough to know what happened. Other programs go for anything but high pressure and many kids respect that. Those commits, when they are made, generally are 100% as they are decisions from the heart. You can usually look at the big schools and figure out how they approach the process. Both approaches have good and bad points. Just depends on where the coaches’ principles are. Even the fans know which schools are the high pressure recruiters. Watch the defensive blogs follow this posting.

You know I usually don’t get involved with these discussions, but today is different. I guess I’m just fed up with all this damn ‘Bama bashing. Let’s set the record straight. You can say what you want. Mr. Saban is a helluva coach. This from somebody who seen him turn that LSU program around into what it is today. A national power. Alabama Football has been through hell these last couple of years or so. It has been one thing after another. Some of it was in our control and some of it wasn’t. People were still kicking us even when we were down. It was hard times for any a proud ‘Bama fan, but you know what? We endured. Nobody broke our spirit. We were bred for those hard times. Cause thats what the “Bear” taught us. The way I see it. Is that you other 11 SEC schools should be happy we’re back on top. It is better for the conference. It’s better for the sport. After all wasn’t it Alabama who carried the torch for this conference for many a year? Hell. Alabama put the SEC on the map. So yes. We should be happy for our latest success. I know I am, but you won’t hear me brag about it. Cause I’ve grown to except winning and I sure in the hell have learned to except defeat as well lately. I’m damn proud of all those boys who went through what they did. I’m damn proud of our team. I’m damn proud of our school. I’m damn proud of our athletic program. I’m damn proud of our traditions. There’s no where, but up for us at the University of Alabama. So all y’all haters just continue to do what you do best. Hate. Cause if I’ve learned one thing. It’s people are going to hate you for whatever you do. Good or bad. So when the dust has settled. Stand up. Keep your dignity and show some respect. God bless. Roll Tide.

We, Bama fans, have very unrealistic expectations of our football program. We expect to win the NC every year. That’s why Richt’s win-lose record at UGA means absolutely nothing to us. In our eyes, you win it all or you’ve won nothing. Objectively, Richt has done an excellent job and, yes, most programs would kill for that type of success. Bama is not one of those programs.

Since Saban has been at UA, every year we have had a combination of back-signers, &/or kids who knew they would not qualify and instead were placed, &/or kids who knew they were going to sign baseball contracts, &/or kids who had agreed IN ADVANCE to “gray-shirt”. ALL that is known and PLANNED FOR IN ADVANCE.

I have lived in Ga 16 years now , grew up in Alabama and have live in LA and other cites in the US. You Ga fans are worse than the Auburn fans. Saban get 3 kids from here and he is hated like Steve Spurier . Whats your problem with Bama we all live in trailers and drive pick up trucks. And some reporter for the communist paper the AJC whips you into a lather about Saban and one kid he recruited. I will say this. I have neighbors who are avid Ga and Tech fans. But dont take this personally . The general passion for college football in the state of Ga is half of what it is in Bama. Point in case. You have 2 boobs doing a talk show in the afternoon one was a QB at GA. The other some transplanted yankee that wouldnt know the veer from a steer unless he was eating the steak from the cow. They think they are funny. they also have a talk show that doesnt have a focus. Its all over the place. So I listen to it because that is all there is until i cant take it anymore. Maybe1/4 of the show is about GA or Tech football .
Yes Ala and Auburn football are the only 2 games in the state. But listen to the sports stations on the radio. and is 90% about Bama and API what Auburn’s original name was. You can hear them on the internet.

Why did we play Clemson in the Ga dome and will be playing the gobblers in the Ga. dome.

I didnt like Saban when he was at LSU. He was a ahole. But now he is our ahole.

Ask Furman Bisher why he doesnt write about Bama football or wont even go to a Bama game. He help write the story that Coach Bryant and Wally Butts rigged a Bama – GA in the early 60’s it was printed in the Saturday evening Post and Bryant sue and won over a million in 63 which was a TON of cash. Furman hates Bama to this day. So why is that relevant to this. I just like to remind Furman of the time Coach Bryant took him to the wood shed.

So Ga has twice the population of Al. thus more kids to chose from. You go find the low hanging fruit and you pick it.

Tom- Yes, it is a lot more fun. I stand by my statement that it is a bad practice to sign more players than you have scholarships available and I misspoke when I wrote that many coaches do it. Many coaches in the SEC do it. It is not a common practice around the country. In fact, signing day is kind of joke out here on the West Coast because we know that the SEC schools will be ranked high even though many members of those signing classes will never play a down at those schools- much more than the rest of the country.
And no, I don’t believe Saban lies more than any other coach on the recruiting trail and he’s darn good at it as I stated before.

Lil Sims is full of it! How do you grow a Ga fan your entire life and then switch to a school that wasn’t on your radar. Sims stated that he has known coach Richt since his freshman year, okay what about respect for coach Richt and his staff. What did coach Saban offer the kid money. What? the kid is not shown any love at home (parents). Ala roll out the red carpet? Give me a break they will do anything to get you to their school. Ga is very professional, Ga have no need to play on a kids mind, if Ga offer guess what you are special. Where is the kid parents; what do they say. Have he passed the SAT or ACT yet.

If Saban is telling the Sims kid he is going to be a SEC quarterback, you might want to check his height, he looks a couple inches taller than Saban and isn’t Saban a short man himself ? I was just wondering if Saban was telling him what he wants to here like he does with most of the recruits, and Blake should pay close attention to what other QB’s bama offers this year to actually see where he stands, commenting too early may not be a good thing.

UM and Richt each had decent talent when they got to their schools, Saban had a bunch of 2nd class Shula boys to work with and to see his truly first recruiting class come out as well as they did is great. As far as losing in the Sugar Bowl, do you think GA would have won anything without Herschel or Florida win a thing without Tebow, well we were without our Starting left Tackle #6 projection in this years NFL draft, that is what cost us the Sugar Bowl, nothing else….

Folks need to chill out. The kid decided to leave the state, wish him well and move on. It does make you wonder how he could go from no offer one day and a top three that didn’t include Bama, to having an offer, meeting the coach, visiting the campus and commiting all in a matter of 48 hours. Saban must have really impressed him and the kid must have really just wanted to get his decision out of the way. Who really knows and cares, just wish him the best. UGA will be fine in the QB category and also fine at any other position this young man might play in college.

Saban is smart to recruit in Georgia and I think he will continue to do so. His home state does not produce nearly as many D1 football players so he has to look around elsewhere. Might as well come into Ga and look and see if you can grab a few here and there. UGA looks around and signs out of state players as well as do most other programs. Tenn will be heavily involved here as will Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and SCarolina. Bottom line is, UGA is typically going to get most everyone they really want in state. They will lose some sure but by and large, they get the top talent they want in the state of Georgia.

Andre Smith was not the reason Bama lost the bowl game, that is pretty funny. Nor will he be picked in the top 6 in the draft. Bama lost in the bowl game to me for the same reason UGA lost to WVU. It is hard for kids to get excited playing a school like Utah or WVU in a bowl game-you just don’t have the same focus. Oklahoma was the same way with Boise. The Bama defense certainly didn’t come to play against Utah either, I don’t think Mr. Smith played on the defense for the Tide.

the over under on them getting their probation is 2 more years… they can not help themselves….they have a tradition of cheating that overshadows anything they have done on the feild… sans the throngs of delusional “fans” who think people around the country respect the program…..

There is currently a textbook scandal going on there that has been kept rather quiet… players were using their AD account at the bookstore to buy and sell books for $$$$… it just continues to happen there… how could something like this go unnoticed at a school that has been on probation for a good part ofthe last 20 years? They just can not help themselves… they will get caught and they will go on probation… it is their tradition… a tradition of cheating…

NCAA puts Tide on 5-year probation, 2-year bowl ban
    Posted: Friday February 01, 2002 2:05 PM
    Updated: Friday February 01, 2002 8:48 PM

    Brush with death

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — The NCAA placed Alabama on five years’ probation Friday, jolting the program Bear Bryant built into a power with a two-year bowl ban and heavy scholarship reductions.

The governing body said it considered giving the Crimson Tide the most severe punishment — the death penalty — under the repeat violator rules for a recruiting scandal in which boosters were accused of paying money for high school players.

“They were absolutely staring down the barrel of a gun,” said Thomas Yeager, chairman of the infractions committee.

“These violations are some of the worst, most serious that have ever occurred,” he said.

The university, accused of 11 major violations — one was later withdrawn — and five minor charges under two former coaches, said it would appeal.

President Andrew Sorensen said university officials ‘are firm in our belief that the penalties are inappropriate.’

“We regret that we must prolong this process, but the decision we have been given today is simply unacceptable,” Sorensen said.

SI’s Maisel: Could Have Been Worse
The NCAA committee on infractions considered giving Alabama the death penalty. SI’s Ivan Maisel says the school’s cooperation with the investigation, along with the fact only one athletic employee was named in any of the charges, got the Crimson Tide off the hook.

Barring a successful appeal, the program that leads the nation in bowl appearances (51) and wins (29) will miss the postseason for consecutive years for the first time since 1957 and 1958, the year Bryant arrived in Tuscaloosa.

The Tide contested the two most publicized charges involving claims of boosters making five-figure payments to lure two recruits.

But it admitted some violations and imposed penalties on itself, including a reduction of 15 scholarships over three years and the temporary disassociation of three boosters at the heart of the recruiting scandal.

The university-imposed sanctions did not include a postseason ban.

The NCAA reduced the number of football scholarships the school can award by 21 over three years. It also said the university would face tougher penalties if it did not permanently disassociate the boosters.

The sanctions could cost the university millions. Last year, Alabama received about $1.5 million from its share of the Southeastern Conference’s bowl proceeds and its take from the Independence Bowl.

The violations occurred under former coaches Mike DuBose and Gene Stallings.

    Alabama’s NCAA Penalties
    Five years on probation.

Barred from going to a bowl or playing in the Southeastern
Conference championship game for two years, which league officials
said could cost the university at least $3 million in bowl
    revenues.

Ordered to reduce football scholarships by 21 over the next
three years. Must also reduce the total number of football players
on scholarship from 85 to 80 during each of those years.

Must ban boosters from traveling on team charters, attending
closed practices and attending or donating money to football camps.

Must face additional penalties if it does not permanently ban
three boosters from having anything to do with the athletic
program. Also must disassociate a fourth booster for at least three
    years.

None of the accusations involve current coach Dennis Franchione or his staff. Franchione was out of town recruiting on the final weekend before national signing day.

“Although the penalties handed down today are much stiffer than we anticipated, the mystery is cleared up and we know what we are up against,” he said. “The coaches, the players and I must roll up our sleeves and work that much harder to sustain and restore Crimson Tide football.”

DuBose released a statement through a Birmingham law firm.

“I am deeply distressed and surprised by the severity of the sanctions handed down today by the NCAA,” he said. “I am especially disappointed for the players, current coaching staff and all of the fans of our university.”

If Alabama is found guilty of further violations during the probationary period, Yeager suggested the death penalty – the elimination of a sports program – could result.

“God forbid, there’s ever another appearance – ever,” Yeager said. “Should there be one – particularly within the five-year period — I don’t know what’s left.”

    Alabama’s Major Violations
Major findings cited by the NCAA Infractions Committee in imposing penalties on the Alabama football program Friday:

A recruit, identified in news reports as Kenny Smith, and his parents were given $20,000 in cash, lodging and entertainment by two Crimson Tide boosters beginning in 1995. The first payment of $10,000 was made in $100 bills delivered in a grocery bag. Smith signed with Alabama but couldn’t meet academic requirements.

An Alabama booster previously identified as Logan Young of Memphis, Tenn., gave cash to a high school coach who was seeking $100,000 cash and two sport-utility vehicles in exchange for directing star recruit Albert Means to Alabama.

An assistant coach, former recruiting coordinator Ronnie Cottrell, received two loans totaling $56,600 from Young in violation of NCAA rules. The loan was not repaid until the case became known.

Two boosters involved in repeated rules violations were known to the Alabama staff, coaches and fans and often were seen at the team hotel during road games.

A recruit, identified previously as Travis Carroll, was given the use of a car in 1999 for agreeing to attend Alabama. The car
was repossessed when Carroll transferred to Florida.

The university contended that accusations of a $20,000 payment to prospect Kenny Smith in the mid-1990s fell outside the governing body’s statute of limitations.

Alabama officials also argued the NCAA couldn’t prove that high school coaches for Memphis prospect Albert Means received money to steer the defensive lineman to Alabama, or that any money was linked to Tide booster Logan Young.

But the NCAA said a booster agreed to give Means’ coach $115,000 to get Means to sign with Alabama and said three payments of $10,000 were made.

Means signed with the Tide, but has since transferred to Memphis. Young, a Memphis businessman, was one of the boosters dissociated from the university. He has denied any wrongdoing in the recruiting of Means.

“Those conclusions are erroneous and unfounded,” said Jim Neal, Young’s attorney in Nashville, Tenn. “As I look more at the NCAA and its procedure, the whole process appears to be basically unfair.”

Alabama’s football program was placed on three years’ probation in 1995. All-America defensive back Antonio Langham admitted signing with a sports agent the morning after the Tide gained the national title with a Sugar Bowl win over Miami but returned to play his senior season.

Alabama would later win an appeal, getting one of the three years of probation lifted and nine of 26 scholarships restored.

Alabama’s basketball program avoided sanctions in 1999 following claims that a former assistant basketball coach, Tyrone Beaman, tried to create a slush fund for recruits. The NCAA praised Alabama’s handling of the matter

Make no mistake, anyone that has been following highschool football in Georgia as long as i have, this kid can flat out play football! Athelte is the word that everyone uses to describe him. That is what he is, an atheletic quarterback that can play 4 or 5 positions. We lost a good one, and i am still going to follow this kid! I saw him play about 4 times this year, each time i saw him he had nothing less then 2 touchdowns in each game. He also threw the ball for touchdowns in each one of the games. THIS KID CAN PLAY!!!! Wish him the best, and lets not lose anymore with his talent. I would take him over both of the 2 qb’s that we just brought in! If i was a betting man this kid is going to be a star in the SEC, whatever position he is at! Young man you are in a good position to be able to play multiple positions. The two we brought in cannot do that! For our sake i hope they dont put him at qb, because he is TROUBLE.

Get real, Saban is not Bear, and NO COACH WILL EVER WIN as many games as Bryant did at Bama. Bama is NOT going to dominate the SEC with or without Saban. UGA will win another SEC title before Bama does. Book it. Oh, and Richt will get his usual Top 5 recruiting class next February. Cheating is PAYING players which Bama has been cited for at least TWICE. Academic issues for making classes/tests (in Phys Ed) easy or for tutoring kids through special studies isn’t “cheating.” If it was, every school in the SEC is cheating! That includes Alabama.

Watching Dawg fans show their TRUE colors in the off season is ALMOST as good as watching their faces as their football team got stomped by the Tide in Athens during their “fan fashion show” .

The young man wants a chance to play for a program that can REALLY compete for national championships instead of spending his entire college career and then the rest of his life talking about what could have been but never was …. .

Deep down Dawg fans KNOW the truth on where both programs REALLY stand both historically and in the present . It obviously drives them so nuts they are even willing to turn on young men for a personal decision like a pack of rabid “dawgs” . The only “satisfaction” they can count on is tallied in the comment section of the AJC . It is highly unlikely to EVER come from a National Championship and they know it . Too funny

Chuck UGA “Crackerisanidiot: UGA has NEVER been caught “cheating.”

Here is a link directly to the NCAA database list for MAJOR infractions by ALL programs . Please note that the University of Georgia’s tally of major infractions stand at SIX . I’ll let you scroll on down the page to see where Bama is listed but I will readily admit that this is the ONE area Georgia has a record that actually tops Bama on the all time list LOL

    Guys, Jeez….

Good luck to the Sims kid. He’ll probably be an All-SEC DB at Bama. That’s football. Allen Bailey was told he’d be a DE at UGA, Miami said they’d let him play LB, and now he’s a DE at Miami. Most of these kids are bedazzled by the whole recruiting experience and get fired up about a particular school and the promises they are made. They’ll make decisions based on emotion and excitement without really thinking the whole decision-making process through (Orson Charles was an exception). I know–my son’s being recruited right now (although for Ivy League and 1-AA schools, not the big boys). These kids generally don’t fully understand that once you get to a school–ANY school–the coaches have the right to use you where the team needs you. That’s what being a teammate is all about. Sims will learn that at Bama (or wherever else he ends up) soon enough. The key thing is that he should take advantage of the free education and make the most of it. Very few people make it to the NFL, but that college degree could be the doorway to a lot of great things for Mr. Sims.

Just the facts, ma’am….Richt is 2-3 vs Saban. No domination there. And I don’t think Bama’s the odds-on favorite to win the SEC this year. That would be the Florida Gators, the defending national champs who return everyone on defense. Two years from now, who knows? Richt has beaten Bama more than Bama has beaten him. Richt has won two SEC titles since he’s been in Athens, which is two more than Bama since he’s been there. And for the Bama fans who use the “our starting left tackle was out in the Sugar Bowl” excuse as the reason you guys got whipped in the Sugar Bowl (and I’ll agree, that was a factor, but not the only factor), try losing TWO starting left tackles in one season. Or try losing 19 players (10 starters) with season-ending injuries in one season. That’s what happened to Georgia last year, and they still went 10-3 and won a bowl game. Had that happened to the Tide, you guys would have had another 6-6 year.

I’d put a check on the ego thing a bit, Tide fans. One 12-2 season doesn’t mean that Bear Bryant’s been resurrected. Last time I checked, he was still dead. Remember, you’re just one year removed from losing to Louisiana-Monroe.

The University of Alabama is doing a better job at everything, so just accept the fact, Georgia. Nick Saban is the Number One coach in America and will continue to be for time to come.

People hate winners so Alabama has alot of enemies. Hell, this is great! We ‘Bama fans have always known that we are the best! Everyone else knows it too but just won’t admit it.

“Cracker” is out of touch with reality. Get real “Cracker”! The NCAA infraction accusations against Alabama do not include selling books. All student-athlete books were returned to the University Supply Store for proper scholarship credit. I have the complete copy of the NCAA report along with the University’s response. It’s almost 100 pages in length. I will be happy to share it with any of you people that know how to read and have the ability to understand facts. This most certainly leaves Cracker out!

Roll Tide! Alabama’s “A Day” game is going to be nationally televised by ESPN. Can any other school say the same for their pre-season game?

At Alabama we know we are good. Too bad the remainder of you people seem to become experts by purchasing a T-shirt from Wal-Mart without every making a single contribution to “your” school. Put you wallet where your mouth is and do something beneficial for your school. Don’t be a Cracker and go off “half-cocked” without the benefit of facts.

Were those from Football? Please list the infractions with date, sport, and penalty…

I will give you a clue… you are barking up the wrong tree…

…but in any case, BAMA had one nice season last year… their fans are kinda excited… they finally beat UGA this century… that let them know that they were back…well, kinda…. they have a coach who has won everywhere he has been…he even won a few games in the pros… Saban has three ten win seasons in his entire career and is 4-6 in Bowl games… remember also that his last season at LSU he was 9-3 and did not win the SEC West… I mean, the way he recruits, how could he have not won the West with all “his” players in place?
but, seriously, disregard what I have said… do not look at the record, Saban “won” one NC at LSU… that means he is the best coach ever and Bama is on the road to eternal greatness as is their destiny…

One more thing, one of the Bama fans was speaking the truth… they only care about winning it all… and they will not let anything get in the way… especially things like rules… they were close to the death penalty just a few years ago… one more slip and…who am I kidding, they will never get the death penalty…too much $$$$ involved…

Hey Cracker .. you seem like a “knowledgeable” Dawg fan (or the best we can hope for anyway) What is the over and under that Georgia will manage bring home a National Championship in “this century” to go with the ONE they managed to eke out over the entire course of the last century ? Any idea if you will still be alive ?

I also wondered if you have any idea how many “next Champ Bailey’s” or “next Herschel Walker’s” Richt will sign in the 2010 recruiting class ?

And most importantly can you tell us if there any plans for Coach Richt and his assistants to attend any high school coaching clinics so they can perhaps learn how to teach these kids anything once they get there ?

I’ll hang up and listen to your “insight” ….

Cracker, you know nothing about what you speak. I have been a member of several recruiting sites since Saban became coach. One thing that always impressed me is that in recruit interviews players alweays commented on how Saban was strait up with them and never promised them anything but an OPPORTUNITY to compete. So do you idiots who are repeating what your friend Bubba told you about Saban saying that Bubba knows more than the recruit? Are you really that dense? I would love to have an example of just 1 of the “many” recruits he lied to. What say you cracker? Prove to me that you are not a liar and idiot both.
