I think Georgia will have an advantage against Tech in recruiting for awhile until Tech has established itself for a little longer. One people need to stop saying "oh we beat UGA for stephen hill". UGA didnt start recruiting him till the very end and with such a short time he was highly interested and thought about backing out of Tech. Has anyone thought that UGA wasnt that concerned since they got the #3 WR in the country! I bet after reading this you would think im a UGA fan...but def not..I dont hate UGA but I dont like much about them at all! You can catch me at games shouting THWG during the fight song. The only thing is that Tech does an amazing job recruiting in a low academic state with GT's high standards! I think Tech will always be able to compete with Georgia as long as Tech keeps recruiting decent Defensive players( Many are in the NFL) and keep running that offense!

I hope GT has an awesome year and a way better BBall team! Fans need to stop talking like we are a powerhouse! However, we do have awesome history with the oldest stadium in history, Bobby Dodd,Calvin Johnson, John Heisman, and 4 national championships..Nothing can take that history away. UGA fans need to stop saying that Tech is second to Georgia in academics..UGA is not a bad school, Tech is just Excellent in some really awesome programs.
Hope tech lands some awesome recruits..need another DT
GO JACKETS!!

#1bamafan - you can't be serious. How many NCs have you won in the past 20 years? One maybe? How about the last 10 years? Stop living in the past. Bear died almost 30 years ago. Elvis is dead and a black man is President.

Let's look at your overall record this decade: 65-47. Hardly impressive. In fact, just mediocre. During this same period of time we've gone 75-33.

By the way, Gomer, in the years where either team was ranked in the final top 25, we were ahead of Bama 3 times and you were ahead of us just twice.

21 - 0 at the end of the first quarter????

Bama Stan....21-0 at the end of the first quarter????

Nice attempt to try and sound intelligent.

You try and trash UGA by saying they struggle in the SEC east. And what did Bama do against UF this year? Had they been in the cupcake west, then Bama would not have gone undefeated in the regular season and would not have appeared in the SEC title game (where you were exposed as being average).

Next, you bash GT saying they will consistently win 7-8 ballgames per year. They did that with Gailey. Johnson won 9 in his first year and I expect 9 to be their average wins per year.

Finally, how do you figure Bama is in the elite category? Don't bother with the successes of the Bear or Stallings. You have one good season in a down year for the SEC and you're suddenly one of the elite? Elite teams don't get handed their rear ends two games in a row, especially two games of great significance.

Bama has been an afterthought for many years (remember 2007), and the next undefeated season may come in another decade or two if you're lucky. However, Saban will NOT be at the helm at that time.

You need to stop dipping so much boy, that stuff's done made you null and void.

RAMBLE Steve KneeJerk ON Superior, you've been kind of silent lately haven't you? Can you not come up with anything better than to keep posting 45-42. I thought a man of self-annointed intelligence such as yourself who has apparently taken that "tougher Tech Calculus course than at UGA" could have figured this one out. I gave it to my third grade daughter and she said:

45 minus 42 equals 3.

I hope this helps. Perhaps you can now move on to more difficult issues. LMAO!!!

31-0 at the half?!!!

Nothing wrong with being proud of your school - but let's keep it in proper perspective:

Both GT and UGA have had thier moments of being in the national spotlight - but neither team is considered royalty or elite when talking national scale.

Both teams are fierce league competitors - respected as regional powers.

Both teams are historically and on average - 4th or 5th best in their league any given year - and will occaisionally be in position for a title - but never in contention on a consistent basis.

UGA has more of recent share of national exposure - but this is rare for UGA. Their best years were during WW2 - when the rest of the country was at war, the Hershall years - and early Richt era.
UGA is now relegated as (at best) the 2nd best team in the SEC East - and is fighting with TN and SC for 2nd, 3rd or 4th SEC East position.

GT - was a national power - and lost their MOJO - left he SEC in the early 60's - dang near died - wanted back in the SEC late 70's - denied as they were still an arrogant group. Yet has been through a humbling period.

Successful under Bobby Ross - well deserved National Title (should not have shared with 5th down and 1 loss colorado) - was a power a few years in late 90's under coach O'Leary. Recently, a respectful and consistent 8 game winner - AND NOW , Coach Paul Johnson has made them an exciting team to watch - but as teams study the LSU game - they will figure out that GT will be a consistent 7 / 8 game winner under Johnson.

UGA basically blew it last year - defense was horrible in second half - give GT credit - they got the breaks and UGA defense choked under pressure ......again.

Both schools - regionally respected - but not even a blip on the national radar - reserved for the Alabama's, USC's, OHIO STATES, and now Florida's of the college football world.

ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dscott, your right. I was wrong on 1981, it was 1989 when UGA posted a 6-6 season when they were supposed to be really good. Excuse me for the mistake and I'm not trying to sound better that UGA. As i said before that it's a good school but i can't stand when UGA fans say their better in sports and academics. Remember that there is more sports than just football. And by the way gdawgin, my friend isn't in Athens trying to be a doctor. He's doing what alot of UGA students do, avoid the real world and get drunk every night. How pathetic.

DawginLex, get ready for times to change. I hope you can get used to UGA losing next year and to Tech for years to come.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to work up the vitriol that's gone into the comments above. I needed a laugh, and I knew if I came to these blogs I would get it. I can only hope you guys don't really take all this as seriously as your posts might indicate.

Fellow Jackets, Be Proud.... but don't be stupid; we've got a much tougher road this coming year. Let's take care of our business, and let the folks in Athens tend to theirs....

Ramblinwrecker,

The more you type and pretend to be "better than us" just because you went to Tech, the dumber you appear. Then you spout your vast knowledge of UGA football by declaring the 1981 SEC champions as going "5-5".

Probably better for you to not type anymore.................

1981 UGA team went 5-5? Really?

I could have swore that team lost one game to Clemson and won the SEC and lost to Dan Marino in the Sugar Bowl.

Preston, Your a joke. Do you know the difference between UGA and Tech graduates? UGA graduates end up working for Tech graduates. UGA has a good Business program and ...... i couldn't think of anything else. I have a friend that got into UGA and he's an idiot and he's been there for 6 years. I guess that's common practice for UGA students but i'm sure you couldn't even get in.

LawDawg, I guess you haven't been a UGA fan very long because you would of known that they were hyped up to be the best in 1981, the year after the won their last National Championship. I guess you must of not known that. They did terrible that year going 5-5. That's sad that a Tech fan knows more about your football team than you do. At least Tech's had a National Championship in the last 20 years. That's more than i can say about UGA. I gaurantee that UGA won't be Tech's best game next year because UGA won't be as good next year since they were so good this year. What a joke! Don't act like UGA doesn't try to play there best game against Tech considering the games the last five years have been decided by 6 points or less. Hey Long Dawg, do you really think Tech is nothing without you sinkin #&% mutts. Who has more National Championships? UGA was nothing until Dooley got there, and when he lefy UGA was nothing until Richt got there.

I'm not worried about the other schools offering Georgia's high school talent any more now than in previous years. Haven't they been doing it all along anyway? Everyone needs to settle down and quit worrying about the kiffen situation. Didn't we get their best receiver to come to Athens? And did he get anyone from GA that we need to be too concerned about?

To Ramble On and all the Tech nerds who have crawled out of their cubicles long enough to blog their standard inferiority complex nonsense.....

As I have told you many times Tech is nothing without Georgia on their schedule. Their season means nothing without Georgia on their schedule. They never have anything to celebrate unless they beat Georgia, no BCS bowls, no ACC championships, no 10 win seasons. 2008 was another typical year for Tech with stellar performances against Gardner Webb and LSU except they beat Georgia for the first time in 8 years. Tech saves everything and always plays their best game against Georgia because they envy Georgia and the Georgia program so much. The series had gotten kind of boreing lately. Tech got our attention.

Ramble On please crawl back into your hole and fire up your porno site and enjoy the 45 to 42 victory for as long as you can you dip@#$%.

Ramblinwreck,

Who said anything about scholar-athletes and students and graduating? You are NOT being realistic in your view of the athletes being "students" at Tech. They are a JOKE!!! BTW they have been hyped to be the "best" just once in their illustrious history, so your statement is VERY baseless!! Also, Ramble On, you are the quintessential Nerd!

LawDawg, no one is saying UGA has underachieved since Richt has been there but when they're hyped up to be the best, they don't deliver. It seems that if they aren't hyped up to be the best, they do finish the year better. Also, Tech may be envious of UGA's success but what team isn't. No UGA fan can tell me with a straight face that they expected the success they've enjoyed the past 8 years. Tech fans are realistic about our chances of success every year. I just can't stand hearing UGA fans complain about a loss looking to point the finger at someone and then say "It's a rebuilding year". By the way, LawDawg those players on UGA team don't have much going for them when they either graduate if they can or go pro and flop in 2-3 years. UGA might be a good school but you know Tech is definitely a better one and if UGA's players start thinking too hard they might hurt themselves.

It seems that if they aren’t hyped up to be the best, they do finish the year better. Also, Tech may be envious of UGA’s success but what team isn’t. No UGA fan can tell me with a straight face that they expected the success they’ve enjoyed the past 8 years. Tech fans are realistic about our chances of success every year. I just can’t stand hearing UGA fans complain about a loss looking to point the finger at someone and then say “It’s a rebuilding year”. By the way, LawDawg those players on UGA team don’t have much going for them when they either graduate if they can or go pro and flop in 2-3 years. UGA might be a good school but you know Tech is definitely a better one and if UGA’s players start thinking too hard they might hurt themselves.

I'm taking a half day off today in honor of Square Root Day, a rare holiday that occurs when the day and the month are both the square root of the last two digits of the current year. Numerically, March 3, 2009, can be expressed as 3/3/09, or mathematically as √9 = 3, or 3² = 3 × 3 = 9.

I'll leave you mutts to yourself pretending 45-42 never happened and planning for your next team TD dance in 2016.

CPJ is the gold standard by which others will be compared....the AJC article this AM, which chronicles the rigors of a GT off season only underscore this fact....while the other program to the east of us sit around and play video games in the off season our troops are running and lifting so that they may be in optimal condition to run the high octane offense that has become the hallmark of Tech football under CPJ...of course this also readies them for the NFL...perhaps the mutts would be better served to stay off our message board and lobby their coach to implement an off-season lifting program....there is something special afoot in Atlanta and it is high time the mutts learn to fall in line with that reality

Why do you Nerds always say that UGA ALWAYS underachieves? We amy have been preseason #1 in apoll last year but only 2 out of the last 20 years has that team finished #1. Also, I don't think UGA was preseason ranked #2 the year before or #3 a couple years before that. I would say having 10+ wins every year and finishing in the Top 10 every year does not costitute "underachieving all the time". Nerds, jealousy does not get you very far in this world. You must think harder and work more for success!

Tech fans were never enrolled at UGA either.

Savannah Dawg, can't you come up with something original to say other than screw tech. Why can't UGA fans just get it in their heads that they won't always win the Rivalry game. All streaks end and UGA's ended last year. Don't be suprised if Tech starts their own streak. You've got to hand it to Coach Johnson and players for going into UGA, falling behind early but coming out with a fire that no Tech team has had for a long time. That's what Johnson brings to the team. Tech won't be a push-over anymore in this game. Maybe if Tech wins the game this year, there won't be many excuses for why UGA lost. They will say, Tech was the better team today just like last year.

Rabun Dawg because half of UGAgs 10 ten recruiting class ends up at Hargrave Academy every year because they can't read.

Come on, you know every time you hear an interview with one of your players how embarrassing it is. How many times have you hit the mute button when you’re with opposing fans…don’t lie?

I know a lot of the posters on here are out of touch with reality. But I think UGA fans have to admit, things are not as easy as they used to be. Think about it. GT won vs. UGA this season (I know most UGA fans will say 7 out of 8 and that's fine, but we're not talking history here, we're talking about trends). GT recruited more in state players than UGA did this year, 14 to 11. GT went head to head with UGA on a player and won. And not just a player, a WR!!!! Think about that. A kid who I'm sure heard all the negative recruiting about how he will not be used enough at GT, still choose GT over UGA. I'm not making this stuff up. I think that Paul Johnson has started a movement and I'm not sure a UGA without Stafford/Moreno can reverse it in one year. So we'll see what happens.

Coach Dodd, you are an idiot my friend. It is okay to be proud of your program. You do have the right coach, but don't be delusional. UGA only went after Stephen Hill when they missed out on national recruits. He only chose Tech, because he knew he was Tech's first choice. Did I mention, he was you're highest ranked recruit. Ask the QB you signed from Indiana what school he has always dreamed of playing for, and he will tell you the same school that never offered him, UGA.

Tech fans like to talk about how horrible UGA's defense is and yet they use the fact that they beat us by 3 to say how great they are. If we suck so bad, why make your claim to fame 45-42. How about when you faced a real good defense like LSU. 38-3?

"I am suprised you could count that high but i know UGA defense lost count of how many points it gave up the last 5 games of the season."

I didn't lose count. We gave up two fewer points than Georgia Tech's absolutely laughable defense gave up in its final 5 games. Georgia Tech gave up 32 points per game in its final 5 games and went a mediocre 3-2. Lets make some rings to celebrate!!!! Georgia Tech is on a roll!!!!

Good grief.

GT has to recruit Georgia because they are just a regional program. While UGA can recruit Georgia but also get kids from all over the country because they are a national program. Its really pretty simple
