What will Greg Reid do on Tuesday night?

The state and (gulp) nation awaits, as Reid has transformed himself into arguably the county’s “hottest” college football prospect over the last month.

Reid, the AJC’s Player of the Year, will choose between Alabama, Florida State and Georgia between 6-8 p.m. on a local radio station that also broadcasts over the Internet.

Love him or hate him, Reid is nothing short of greatness on the football field. He is considered the rarest of prospects, someone who has the potential to improve a college team’s football fortunes from the very moment he arrives on campus. What will Greg Reid do?

The 5-foot-8 Reid had a dominating senior season at Lowndes High. If that wasn’t convincing enough, he played in Georgia’s North-South all-star classic and scored the game’s only two touchdowns on punt returns of 89 and 77 yards. If more proof was needed, Reid won MVP honors with two interceptions in the ESPN-televised Under Armour game, rocketing his Q rating through the roof.

What will Greg Reid do? Let’s give a quick breakdown of the three finalists:

ALABAMA: All Alabama had to do was get Greg on campus, which was quite a task. He was initially supposed to go on Jan. 9, but then switched to Florida State. Greg then agreed to visit Alabama on Jan. 23, but nearly backed out at the last minute for Tennessee. However, once Reid made it to Tuscaloosa, Ala., he said he was impressed with the tough talk and NFL background of Alabama coach Nick Saban.

FLORIDA STATE: Several members of Reid’s family want him to play closer to home, and Tallahassee is only 85 miles away. However; it appears that Greg’s biggest allure to Florida State is an opportunity to compete immediately for a starting position, as the team lacks depth at defensive back.

GEORGIA: There are so many things in favor of the Bulldogs, most notably that Reid told several prospects committed to Georgia that he will be joining them (then again, he could’ve told that to Alabama and FSU players, too). What also helped Georgia with Reid was the enormous positive reaction it generated throughout the South Georgia area when he said he planned to visit the Bulldogs. He likes UGA coach Mark Richt, and thinks he can be a calming influence on his life. Reid also thinks he has a shot at playing early for the Bulldogs.

What will Greg Reid do? What’s your pick? Post below and let’s see if you’re correct.

Florida owns the FL/UGA Series since 1940. But UGA dominated in the 20’s and 30’s but who really cares. The Gators own the Dogs.

Wally Butts, the Gaytors have dominated the Dawgs but not since the 40’s. Get your facts straight. We dominated since we started playing y’all through the 80’s. Have y’all beaten us since then. Yes, a lot. Just get your story right.

Wally- Does that include UF’s record against UGA in the 70’s and 80’s? I am pretty sure before UF’s current run of 16-3, UGA was 15-5 over the previous 20 year span. Don’t see how that was dominant by anybody but UGA. Why don’t you ask SOS how good they played us before he took over as the head coach? I am sure that ‘66 loss still stings a bit. Look, you have been dominant since the early 90’s. I admit it, just like any of the other UGA fans I discuss football with on a daily basis. Just enjoy your program, which I believe is one of the best in the country, and let us try an build ours to the same level so we can enjoy the game each and every year.

As far as Reid is concerned, good luck with whatever your decision is. Whether it is the Dawgs, FSU, or Alabama, I certainly wish you the best.

It appears Reid is down to UGA and FSU. He has been removing hats every 20 minutes and is down to those two.

The site for the streaming radio broadcast is apparently swarmed with listeners and can’t be accessed anymore. As soon as someone knows what Reid decides, please post it on here
