Never a boring recruiting moment with Perry OL Johnnie Farms

You can say one sure thing about Perry offensive lineman Johnnie Farms: He keeps things interesting.

Because when it comes to recruiting with the AJC Super 11 selection, everything is unsure. Ol’ Johnnie is going to keep us guessing right up until Wednesday. I’m sure I’m forgetting or missing some things here, but to the best of my knowledge …

  • Farms tried to commit to Alabama, then was told the Crimson Tide were full of scholarships at his position
  • Committed to South Carolina
  • Switched to North Carolina, saying it had “a little better education than [South Carolina]
  • Steve Spurrier drove to Perry, to defend South Carolina’s academics and convince Farms to still take an official visit with the Gamecocks. Farms eventually declined.
  • Scheduled an official visit with Central Florida, and then canceled in part, because it was the same weekend as his grandfather’s birthday.
  • Recruiting trip to Auburn this weekend
  • Upon returning from Auburn, Farms said he is still committed to North Carolina.
  • Farms will let us know on Wednesday if he is sticking with North Carolina, or switching to Auburn. And will there be “mystery school”?

In Farms’ defense, he is very likable and charismatic. He’s just a teenager, with seasoned adults throwing world-class recruiting pitches at him.

Then again, wow. What are your thoughts on it all? And am I missing some other official visits or big news that happened along the way with Farms? What is your prediction for Farms on signing day? Is there another Georgia player who has had a more “exciting” recruiting journey than Farms? If so, whom?

One more thing: Don’t forget to make your NSD predictions right here.

If he goes to SC, the most he can hope for is MAYBE an 8 win season (they only have five in their 116 year football history). The best the Gamecocks have ever achieved is mediocre. Good luck to Farms, wherever he goes.

Signing day isn’t till Wednesday and he is free to chose whoever he wants for whatever reason he wants. Whereever he does go, he is going to have to work his butt off waking up at 5am to lift weights and run before going to class. I say good luck to you Johnnie Farms and don’t take any lip from a redonkulous sportswriter. I am a SEC fan but Farms is actually correct, UNC DOES have an excellent academic reputation…the only school in the SEC that is better is Vandy. It takes a lot of courage for a 18 year old kid to stick to his guns and tell that to Steve Spurrier….and what would you reccomend your 18 year old son base his decision on?

Nice, Cock. Call a high school kid a loser because he doesn’t want to come to your school. He’s a kid. Cut him some slack.

Anyone that commits, then de-commits, then sets up an official visit with a third school (UCF), then cancels the visit with that school obviously has some issues. I would be wary of signing this kid regardless of how many stars he has on Rivals.

They play football at South Carolina? or UNC? nice. that is news to me. As to UNC being loaded? are we referring to blood alcohol content? Certainly not football talent! ha.
