Stafford may have been talented but i agree it takes a true Georgian to have that DAWGS FIRE inside Georgia football has been and always will be 1 of the best states for football talent along with Texas Florida California and Ohio we should look for our players in state first GO GEORGIA GO DAWGS:)!!!!

Stafford has been praised since before he ever came to UGA> He leaves having accomplished nothing more than being the most arrogant QB for the DAWGS in decades. People in Athens tell me he was rude and started fights in bars and left and that the police were looking for an excuse to throw him in the slammer at the behest of bar owners. Good riddance to a Texas transplant that was never either a Georgian or a Dawg.

Stafford was a GOOD QB..so was Greenie, DJ, and others..Joe will be too..Great takes a four year stint..a Dawg attitude..and consistentcy..Matt had some, not all, of this. We have a good group of QBs waiting to play Georgia football. Hopefully, they can be coached up in a short time..the supporting cast will be the key. A new philosophy and attitude from the coaching staff will go a long way. GO DAWGS IN 09!

Tarkenton went to a new franchise in Minnesota and Stafford may well go to a worse situation if Detroit gets him. My point was that if Stafford does not show consistancy to go with all that talent he may end up as a career backup. Consistancy is huge factor and Staff had three years to demonstrate some but in his final UGA game was far from consistant.Tarkenton was consistant. No big deal. I just love to nitpick such statements.

Buddy El: Good point about Fran Tarkenton. I thought about Fran before posting that. Fran was a great college player, led UGA to 1959 SEC championship. But he was a third-round pick. Not only is Stafford projected to be a first-rounder, he also could be THE No. 1 pick of the draft. Stafford is clearly the better NFL “prospect.” Will Stafford be the better NFL “player”? Highly doubtful, and that’s nothing against Stafford in particular, but also any QB coming out of college. Tarkenton is an NFL legend, Hall of Famer, etc.

Of the remaining slots, any 3 or 4 of the following would be great: Reid, Massie, Brown, Carroll, Charles, Bowman, Kenney, or any others the UGA coaches come up with as they always seem to do a good job

Centanni…Maybe you should know the facts before piping in. Brown is extemely close with Pryor that was made evident by him while he was in Athens.

Michael: Coach Richt once said Stafford was the most talented qb he ever coached meaning Staff has tremendous “potential”. Staff had many forgetable performances(Most of the first half of the Capitol One Bowl) so how can he be “Georgia’s Best Ever” pro prospect. Have you forgotten NFL record holder Fran Tarkenton or is that too far back in time for you?

For those of you who don’t like the writers at the AJC or the paper itself, just don’t read it. It amazes me when critics that think they know more than any journalists continue to read their articles and whine aimlessly. I am sure the writers do their best to be accurate but they are human and thus not perfect.

It’s amazing how people who are in the “KNOW” have no clue……who are you talking to? OSU? Sorry my friend, that will not happen. It is between UGA and TENN.
