Last Cracker...Mark Lemke (best darn 2nd baseman of the last 25 yeats)??????? Have you been smokin' the drapes??? Was that intended as a jest? He's not even the best BRAVES 2nd baseman of the last 25 years(you may take your bow now, Glenn Hubbard)!! Bob Horner? More of a morality tale of wasted potential and poor work ethic than an HOF shoo-in. I can never get the image of Horner at probably 250_ pounds in that sickening blue and yellow Yakult Swallows uniform when he atttempted that Japan League comeback. And I do hope you realize Crash Davis is a fictional character...or else why have you ignored Roy Hobbs?

Joe Jackson took the gamblers money who fixed the 19919 World Series. This is a historical fact that the esteemed Furman Bisher neglected to mention and it is why Shoeless is banned to this day.

Baseball HOF? Let's see, a lot of people would like to see Rose get in the HOF (including myself) and now you bring up "Shoeless Joe" now, great players with great numbers. But as a member of the ATL press I feel that more of the ATL press need to start pushing for Mr. Murphy to gain his seat. Dale Murphy not only had good numbers( compared to Jim Rice and some others) but he is still part of the baseball community in some form or fashion today. He was not only a great player, but he was a great person and continues to be pro-active in baseball by helping the youth stay away from steroids. Let's start looking at players like this that deserve the HOF before we end up with a group of juiced up steroid HOF.

Hey, Go Dawgs, I have never been the biggest fan of Mr. Bisher, but what is wrong with this story he took a historical incident and made it relevant to today by comparing it with the Pete Rose ban. I wish they would have run the whole story they printed 40 years ago. I would much rather read this than another steroid story. You know its been said that "nothing is new, its all happened before." So don't be bored by history. If we pay attention we may see something coming on it next time around.

I remember watching Shoeless Joe with my Grandapa at the Polo Grounds. He was the best athlete of his generation. It is too bad that his name is too often associated with people like Pete Rose. Rose is a loser. A worthless gambler who would have placed his kids on the roulette wheel if given a chance. Joe was a classic hitter. Ever see the movie Field of Dreams? That was about Joe. Bet you did not know that. Too bad Joe never had to play against any African American ball players. His batting average would have been 100 points lower if he had to face the likes of Bob Gibson or Dwight Gooden. By the way Dwight Gooden should be in the Hall of Fame too. Here is my list of the top ten players who are not in the hall but should be:

1) Shoeless Joe Jackson
2) Dwight Gooden
3) Darryl Strawberry
4) Keith Hernandez
5) Billy Beane
6) Bob Horner
7) Dale Murphy "Mr. Clean"
8) Andre "I ain't taking no dope" Dawson
9) Mark Lemke--bast darn 2nd baseman of the last 25 years
10) Crash Davis

I saw Crash play once a long time ago. He was a classic hitter. Too bad he hit too many women during his playing days. That cost him in the long run. Why is Peter Gammons in the Hall of Fame? I bet he could not hit a fastball. What about Dave Parker or Larry Bowa both are worthy Hall of Famers.
