I don’t know who Bob Townsend is, but fire him as a “critic”…the Cuban Diner he recently reviewed in Marietta is horrible…I left food on the table, which is something a big guy like me rarely does…Havana Sandwich is THE place, not the one he liked

Hi John, sorry to bother you with this but I’m stumped. I want to get a restaurant gift certificate for a work colleague and his wife who just welcomed their second child. They used to live ITP and enjoyed the restaurant scene in-town. They recently moved OTP and live off Holcomb Road between the 400 and Peachtree Industrial. I’m ITP myself so don’t have a clue what’s up that way. It doesn’t have to be upscale, but since it’s an evening out for the two of them, I’d like it to have a bit of ambiance. Thanks very much. By the way, I’ve been following your restaurant advice since I moved to Atlanta from Texas in 1992, and I’ve converted my husband (who’s a Canadian) into a John Kessler fan as well!

What’s your take on tweets about how much you hate your customers? I was recently directed to this: http://twitter.com/theangrychef. I used to stop at Rosebud a few times/month when traffic got to much to bear, but no more, especially with the misogynistic tone of so many of the posts. Why would someone shoot themselves in the foot like this?

John, I thought I read somewhere on your blog that there is a secret “Nothing But Bacon” bar underneath some other bar, possibly Ormsby’s, but I can’t find anything about it now searching through your old posts. Is this thing real, or am I going crazy?

Hey man, there is a Thai rest. in Tucker called Mai Thai. It is better by far than Yum Yum Thai or Surin. One of the best I have eaten at in this town. Why don’t you give a whirl and see? Cook is a four star chef from Bangkok.

I am gathering a group to have an informal Buford Hwy Banh Mie taste off in the next 2 weeks or so. Restaurants to be included are Lee’s Bakery, Saigon Deli, Quốc Hương, Little Saigon and others TBA.
