Pick 5: Eat for a Cause

It is always nice to treat yourself to a night out for dinner, but it is even better when  you can support a good cause in the process. We picked out five dining events that benefit local and national charities. Some are finishing up this month, so be sure to eat and drink to your heart’s content and support a special cause.

“Lucky Pints”
Meehan’s Public House Atlantic Station
232 19th Street NW, Atlanta
On February 22 drink a beer to support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity funding research to find cures for childhood cancers. Order a pint of Guinness and if it is marked with a shamrock, you win a prize.

“Kula Project”
Ri Ra Irish Pub
1080 Peachtree Street, Atlanta
Kula Project has gained traction with The Optimist and King + Duke, and Wednesday February 26 from 7-9 p.m. Ri Ra is sponsoring “cocktails and culture” for Rwanda. Kula Project doubles farmer’s incomes by investing in small-scale farmers. Plus, snap a photo and your first drink is free.

“Go Red”
RA Sushi
1080 Peachtree Street, Atlanta
This is the last week to dine off the special “Go Red” menu at RA Sushi. Throughout the month of February, the restaurant will donate $3 off the “Go Red” menu to the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative.

“Slow Food at the Table”
If meal planning and cooking for the family is more your style, just the snap of a photo of your meal and fill out an online form for a chance to win a private dinner with chefs Steven Satterfield and Asha Gomez. Slow Food Atlanta, the local food initiative in Atlanta, encourages people to cook their own meals using local ingredients. The contest runs from February 1 through March 31, and entries must be received by April 4. More information on their website.

“The Hunger Walk/Run”
Since 2009, Fifth Group Restaurants has been a sponsor of the Hunger Walk/Run, an event that raises money for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This year’s walk takes place on March 9th at Turner Field. Choose your favorite Fifth Group Restaurant to sponsor and click on the link to donate funds. Can’t decide? Choose them all and support FGR.
