Good question Paige—wondered the same about The Kimball House–I think it opened about September. Certainly a well received restaurant and a must visit for me and I wish them nothing but the best. Got me to thinking how one might qualify as a semi-finalists. This is from the James Beard web page———-

————–Where do the semifinalists come from? The process began in October with an open call online; anyone could submit up to two entries per category. After receiving close to 40,000 submissions, our Restaurant and Chef Awards Committee, composed of critics, writers, and editors, went to work and created the list of semifinalists, culled from the open call, for each award. —-

So someone submits entries, as many time as possible, but only twice a day. Critics, writers, and editors (are they local) vote and come up with a list. I’m sorry, and probably missing something here, but does anyone ever visit the establishments they are judging and nominating? That would seem to me to be kinda important.
Congrats to the nominees, Michael and Eddie rock as do most others. Certainly a lot of hard workers and creative minds involved here. But pardon me for questioning the qualifications and guidelines used.

It’s the food world’s equivalent of the Oscars… in many cases, probably well deserved but certainly political and always filled with self-aggrandizement.

#Logical Dude Obviously you have never been to @Taqueria del Sol. Hands down best food in #ATL for the price.
