Pick Five: Where Hungry Tigers Should Feast for the SEC Championship

We’re in the South, which means this Saturday’s SEC Championship Game is a big deal, especially if you are an Auburn or Missouri fan. Rivalries aside, at least both teams agree that they have the best mascot. Two tigers dueling will certainly get hungry! We arm you with barstools and bites near the Georgia Dome, whether you’re in town looking for a convenient spot or want to be as close to the action without buying a ticket.

Der Biergarten
300 Marietta Street, 30313
TVs: yes
Voted one of the top ten beer gardens in 2012 by USA Today, the German food and beer takes people back to Germany. A lively biergarten atmosphere is sure to be crowded so grab a spot early. We’ve heard the “Jagerschnitzel” is as close to home-cooked as you can get. Das gute.

Bottle Rocket
180 Walker Street, 30313
TVs: yes
Sushi + burgers= Bottle Rocket. About half a mile from the Dome, the carnivores can chomp burgers while others pop sushi and cocktails. The atmosphere is fun and quirky like you’d expect from an East meets West food spot. Plus, show your ticket and get 15% off.

Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria
300 Marietta Street NW, 30313
TVs: yes
The communal tables and authentic New York pizza give this place a casual bar atmosphere feel, great for carb-loading after the game. Plus it’s the only pizzeria in Georgia with a coal oven. The homemade dough and toppings get slightly charred in the oven and makes for a crispy bite.

Elliott Street Deli and Pub
51 Elliott Street, 30314
TVs: yes
One block from the Dome, the parking lot can fit more than 400 cars, so tailgaters, you’ve found your spot. Their Boar’s Head sandwiches are simple creations that will fill you up without a hefty price tag. The bread is delivered fresh daily, an effort that doesn’t go unnoticed.

Sun Dial
210 Peachtree Street NE, 30303
TVs: no
Looking to escape the crowds and get a bird’s eye view of Atlanta? Sun Dial Restaurant is the swanky alternative, but the view comes with a price. They’ve revamped their menu and reopened in August, so it is worth checking out, if not just for the “revolutions.”

Yes, Stan, by all means, please “stay away from downtown.”
I would hate for your 1984 Chrysler Town & Country minivan loaded with ugly ginger children to break down on the connector and cause a traffic jam while you wait for someone to tow it back to Bartow County.

MIZZOU fans should go to Ecco, Optimist, Antico Pizza (or Mellow Mushroom downtown by the W Hotel if the line is too long there), JCT Kitchen or the Vortex on Peachtree.

Auburn fans should go to the Varsity. Alumni with post-graduate degrees from Auburn should go to Hooters.

Late night, MIZZOU fans should go to Johnny’s Hideaway.
Auburn fans should go to The Ripcord in Danielsville.

Hey Tigers! If you really want an out of this world experience then make your way up to Buford Hwy, Atlanta’s best kept secret for fine international cuisine. After lunch, stop by Hogan’s Toyota at the corner of Buford Hwy and Clairmont and head back into the city in style. Like this 2008 Avalon 4 door brand new interior custom chrome wheels turbo boost 6 cylinder power windows for the all new low price of $7,998. REALLY? YES! Bo Jackson and Blaine Gabbert drive one, so why don’t you? And that’s not all. We typically don’t do this but this weekend and this weekend only we are paying TOP DOLLAR for any and all trade ins so long as you are an Auburn or Missouri alumni. So no matter the score of the game this weekend, at Hogan’s Toyota everyone leaves a winner!

Because of personal safety, I would not set foot there. There are safer areas in the burbs.

Mark Hogan……your automobile ads prove to us that you could not make it on the internet making $98.00 per hour like your sister-in-law. NOBODY is buying a car from you, pal!

“Because of personal safety, I would not set foot there. There are safer areas in the burbs.”

Watch out! All those “other people” are headed out your way. Best to invest in a bunker in the mountains.
