Pallookaville Opening On Halloween

Stacy

Jim Stacy deep fries.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a feature on Jim Stacy, the six-six tattoo-covered Atlanta artist, musician, cook, clown and “Deep Fried Masters” TV personality, who is opening Pallookaville Fine Foods in Avondale Estates. The soda fountain and deli is a brick-and-mortar spin-off of Stacy’s carnival food truck.

I was intrigued by a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” where Stacy used a drill fitted with a drywall mud mixer to stir up a bucket of funnel cake batter spiked with Jameson. Through the magic of TV, it became deep-fried bananas with bacon whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

Later, Leno and actor Jason Sudeikis delighted in deep-fried pickles, washed down with multiple swigs straight from the whiskey bottle. “Not bad,” Leno quipped, and clutched his chest to feign a heart attack.

You can see the whole story here: www.myajc.com.

Stacy just announced on Facebook that Pallookaville will be opening for a party on Halloween, with music by The Fourth Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra:

Let’s have a party! We are opening!  Halloween Night 6 p.m.-1 a.m. Special Party Fountain and Restaurant Menu. Closed Fri., Sat. and Sun…. Chomp and Stomp Sat. Back open Mon. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with a limited Opening Menu.

Does he have to spell Pallookaville with two ls to avoid copyright infringement with the Joe Palooka comic character?

Avondale Estates is an interesting choice of locations.
Is it located inside the Wal*Mart on Memorial Drive?

Kitchen Fire,
Take Avondale Rd/College Ave north from Memorial and you’ll find a mildly run-down cluster of shops in a Tudor style. The new restaurant will be in a prominent location there and locals, me included, hope it helps breathe some life into the downtown.
