Halloween Candy: Still on our first bag!

300px-CandyCornI’m so proud of my family because we resisted the temptation this year.

You know it, right? You buy the Halloween candy early, break into the bag just to steal one Twix, and the next thing you know you’re popping “fun size” 3 Musketeers like Tic Tacs? Then, the day before Halloween you have to run to CVS to buy yet more Halloween candy.

I’m happy to report that candy didn’t make an appearance in our house until yesterday, and so far my consumption has been limited to one Tootsie Pop.

Anyone else doing better this year?

I’ve been good about getting it last minute so I don’t have it around. I used to not have any kind of sweet tooth but in the last year it’s raging. Menopause? At 40?

Anyway, we did open the candy corn and eat some. But since it’s loose candy we’re not planning to give it away anyway. The rest of it is not being opened until tomorrow night.

I bought 4 bags a few weeks ago and they are just sitting (unopened) in our big Halloween bowl on the entryway table. It’s been hard to walk by it every day, but since the bags are sealed, and we’re too lazy to open them, we’ve resisted temptation!

One bag purchased on Saturday from Publix, still sitting unopened on the kitchen table. Seems like we have fewer and fewer munchkins every year so the one bag is probably more than enough, even if I had started nibbling.

By the way, John, you can have all the Milky Ways, just leave the Snickers for me. ;-)

Buying mine tonight. Probably won’t get into to it, but plan on having plenty of leftovers.

My problem is AFTER Halloween. For some reason, we tend to buy way too much and I have to force my partner to take the extra to the office. I work from home and really don’t need that temptation around……as I have NO willpower when it comes to candy.

We haven’t decorate yet. I think we may have more left over this year because of the rain. We have over 200 candy and chocolate that we brought.

AzCat….feel the same way about Milky Way. Like eating sweet air. It’s Snickers and Zagnut by the front door. Hope I can find Zagnuts today!

we bought two bags on Tuesday. I will admit to eating several Reeces and a couple Almond Joy so far but since we didnt get enough to have leftovers, I dont feel too bad about it.

Either all of you have more self-restraint than real Foodies should have or some of you are not telling the truth. LOL! I’ll fess up! I’ve been munching on Snickers and PayDay’s since September. They’re the mini size so I don’t feel as bad. Good luck finding those Zagnuts, Balt.

We bought three bags a week ago. The Mounds bag is about half full, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups about 2/3 and the Kit Kat bag is almost full. I’ll try to persuade the trick or treaters to finish off the Kit Kats since I’m doing a fine job on the others.

art….went to 5 locations today. Nobody at these places even knew what a Zagnut bar was! I e-mailed the Hersey Co. to ask where to buy them in any zip code close to mine. I hope to get a reply. So it is Snickers and Butterfingers for the kiddies. Heath bars for the adults and a shot of Southern Comfort for the adults that come to the door w/ children and look thirsty. Have been doing SC now for 28 yrs and neighbors still come even if their children are grown and out of the house.

art……heard back from Hersey Co. No zagnut bars sold within 50 miles of my zip code. You can buy them thru their company store on line and they also gave me an 800 # to call also.
