Bell Street Burritos news

Beel StreetAccording to multiple reports, including EATER Atlanta, Bell Street Burritos Irwin Street Market location has closed and will soon be replaced by new fast casual restaurant, called Bob, from Jake Rothschild of Jake’s Ice Cream, serving kebabs and other skewered items.

In the meantime, Bell Street has opened a new location in South Buckhead in the former Huey’s space at 1816 Peachtree Road. And the original Sweet Auburn Curb Market location on Edgewood Ave. remains.

For updates, check the Bell Street Facebook page here:

Follow the bouncing burrito. Are these people bad at picking locations? Or are they scamming landlords somehow? 3 locations in 2 years sounds fishy. Let’s see how long the new one lasts.

I’m very pleased they’ve opened within walking distance. Hopefully the location will prove great for them.

Bob, glad they are naming a Ke”bob” place after you. You are much deserving of this recognition. Hope they have good beer at the Bob. Cheers!

Great new location in the hottest neighborhood for foodies in Atlanta! Watershed, Sufis, Saltyard, Blue Fin, J. Thomas, Ted’s, Uncle Julios, etc..! A few more on the way! Brookwood Hills(south Buckhead?) is the place to be these days!

Grasshopper,

I know the owners of Bell St. Burritos well and I assure you they are not scamming anyone. The owner of the property at the Howell Mill location sold out to Advanced Auto Parts, forcing Bell St. to move. After being asked by Jake’s Ice Cream to renovate and move into the Inman Park location, Bell St. did and enjoyed fantastic success. Then, after being forced closed due to “routine” building maintenance, they were forced out. So, in the former situation, nothing shady went on — just bad luck. In the second situation, something shady might have gone on, but not on Bell St.’s side of things.

To clarify my last comment, rather than being forced to leave, which I cannot honestly speak to, I just know that Bell Street had no intentions of leaving the Inman park location..

I’ll take your word for all that Kevin. I ate at Bell St. several times on Howell Mill and enjoyed but thought it odd that they were gone so quick. They did not renovate much from the Social House IIRC; I hope they made some money there.

Combined with their bad experience on Irwin tells me maybe they have bad luck with leases. Or do not read carefully. If they disappear from Peachtree in 6 months maybe we’ll have an answer.

Agreed, OV. Jake is well known as a shady dude, who in this case pushed out BSB, so he could start his own place, ‘Bob. How long until he tries to franchise this out? Worked so well for him last time….
