In May 2010, Atlanta joined the ranks of major American cities honoring craft beer with a week of celebrations. Four years later, moved from May to October, Atlanta Beer Week survives. But it’s become a much more informal series of events, with breweries, bars and restaurants taking up the cause to present new releases, tasting and dinners, including beer dinners at several fine dining restaurants.

The Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Brewer’s Breakfast at the Square Pub in Decatur, followed by the Decatur Craft Beer Festival at noon.

Here are some more Beer Week events:

JCT. Kitchen & Bar pairs Red Hare Brewing beers with four courses on Oct. 23. The dinner menu features buttermilk marinated fennel with fall citrus, Serrano chilies, toasted coriander and dill and crunchy bread paired with Long Day Lager, and Gangway battered haddock with malt vinegar aioli, citrus, radish and green tomato pickles paired with Gangway IPA. The dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. $60. Reservations: 404-355-2252.

For its 5th annual Harvest Beer Dinner on Oct. 24, Food 101 joins The Beer Growler in presenting four courses paired with craft beer. The menu includes grilled Georges Bank scallops, grilled Niman Ranch bratwurst with Braised Red Cabbage, and chocolate oatmeal bread pudding with bacon caramel drizzle. $45. Hearth Pizza Tavern in Sandy Springs is offering several new craft beers during Atlanta Beer Week and pairing a different brew with a pizza or an appetizer each day. The lineup includes: Oct. 19, Boulevard Reverb Imperial Pilsner; Oct. 20, Abita French Connection Saison Oct. 21, Finch’s Sobek & Set Black IPA; Oct. 22, New Holland Ichabod Pumpkin Ale; Oct. 23, Mother Earth Old Neighborhood Oatmeal Porter; Oct. 24, SweetWater Crank Tank; Oct. 25, Terrapin Monk’s Revenge Belgian IPA.  Ommegang Seduction is available all week. ….oh, and the beers will be also offered by the glass or a 5-beer flight. Normally these 750ml bottles aged beers are only available on premise @ 5 Seasons Westside!
