Where To Eat and Drink Near the Tour Championship at East Lake

Steinbeck'sThe FedEx Cup playoffs come to a close this week at the Tour Championship at the historic East Lake Golf Club. Two titles will on the line when the top players, including Tiger Woods, Henrik Stenson, Adam Scott, Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar, tee it up on Thursday.

If you’re in town for this year’s tournament, finding a place to grab a bite or a drink can be a confusing task.

There are great options around Decatur Square, which is on the MARTA line and has become one of Atlanta’s top drinking and dining destinations. Kirkwood, East Atlanta Village and Little Five Points are nearby, too.

But just a mile down East Lake Drive, Oakhurst Village is arguably the closest go to spot for a quick burger and beer or coffee and muffin. The close knit residential community features a small square, where free parking and a cluster of local bars and restaurants with outdoor seating are all within walking distance of each other.

Here’s a sampling:

Steinbeck’s Ale House — Imaginative chef-driven pub grub, a thoughtful craft beer list and a full bar are on offer at this cozy neighborhood haunt. 659 East Lake Drive,  404-373-1116, steinbecksbar.com.

Kavarna — This quirky-cool spot, which features coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and a bar with beer and wine, is also an eclectic music venue. 707 East Lake Drive, 404-371-1113, kavarnadecatur.com.

Universal Joint — A sister bar to Steinbeck’s, the U-Joint packs them in with dependable bar food, a family friendly atmosphere and lots of outdoor seating. 906 Oakview Road, 404-373-6260, ujointbar.com.

Mezcalito’s — Lively Mexican cantina with all the usual menu items, including tacos and margaritas, plus sandwiches, entrees and specialty cocktails. 653 East Lake Drive, 404-687-0007, mezcalitoscantina.com.

Mojo Pizza and Pub — A hole-in-the wall joint, with build-you-own pizzas, slices, wings, pasta, sandwiches and beer, bolstered by a great location. 657 East Lake Drive, 404-373-1999, mojopizzanpub.com.

What are your picks for eating and drinking near East Lake?
