Greg Best and Regan Smith are leaving Holeman and Finch

Greg Best at H&F

Greg Best at H&F

Atlanta Magazine reports that Greg Best and Regan Smith are leaving Holeman and Finch Public House .

By all accounts, Best, Smith, and partners Gina and Linton Hopkins and Andy Minchow (who left H&F last year), were the team most responsible for helping to spawn Atlanta’s creative cocktail culture.

Holeman and Finch opened in 2008, and after five years, Best and Smith are apparently ready for a new project.

Best’s last night tending bar at H&F will be Saturday, September 7.

2277 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, 404-948-1175, holeman-finch.com.

We wonder, will H&F be the same without Best and Smith?

What about Best’s other projects, like Feed Radio, with Hopkins?

A lot of great bartenders in this town, but Greg is still one of the top mixers. Not only are his original creations excellent, but his personality and demeanor behind the bar are top-notch, as well. I wish him much success. I have no doubt the rest of the remaining team at H&F can maintain the high standards.

The monkeys only want to make banana daiquiris, sometimes I want something else.

gunga—If I recall your typical attire, donning shirt and shoes will be required to attain service but I challenge you to go to Bones, Manuels, or H&F and not be impressed with the amount of talent, service, and hard work required by your libation technician to produce your favorite cocktail. Proper ingredients and the knowledge of how to use them are indeed essential but it is frequently the subtleties that make the differences in simply getting a drink and having a wonderful evening doing so. I guess a lot depends on what you are looking for. Good Luck Guys! Seeya on the 7th—love your manhattans!

I wonder if this is a detriment to a good thing?

Edward…..I don’t believe I have ever ordered a banana daiquiris. I believe that would violate something in my family by-laws.
