Heirloom Market BBQ folks working on a new location, different restaurant

heirloomHeirloom Market BBQ recently announced that it would convert to a to-go/catering operation only. Bad news for the restaurant’s fans.

Today on its Facebook page, Heirloom revealed that there is a new non-barbecue restaurant in the works from chefs Jiyeon Lee and Cody Taylor. The restaurant will be housed in the former Kitsch’n 155 space on Clairmont Road, near the VA hospital.

To quell fears about the fate of Heirloom, the restaurant responded to Facebook comments on its post:

Heirloom To-GO is staying at Akers Mill and will not move unless we find a space directly in the area that we love…I’m currently looking and open to any space anywhere in Atlanta that I feel will work for Heirloom for years to come….if we leave the area we are at now than Heirloom Market To-Go will stay at the original Akers Mill location so all our supporters and regulars will not lose it from their neighborhood.

We will keep you posted with any new details about the new restaurant.

They should just move up the street in the old Wendy’s spot. That would solve their parking issues and they would be able to keep their clients and generate more, since its right off the Interstate and across from the hotel.

I like the side-of-the-road, non-strip-mall feel, but there’s just no parking. I’m not sure Wendy’s or anything around that corner would offer the same vibe.

Would love to see them take over the Harry’s Pizza space. Not too big. Not too small. Way more seating than Heirloom has now. Can’t imagine that Harry’s is doing a decent enough business to stay open especially with the Heirloom juggernaut right across 285.

Famous Dave’s on nearby Powers Ferry has been sitting vacant over 3 years with over 300 empty parking spots. We’ll help you move your smokers over there Cody!

That Wendy’s space is a great idea! I would imagine that Famous Dave’s is too big and pricey – though it shouldn’t be pricey considering how long it’s been empty. As for Harry’s – what does how busy a BBQ place is have to do with how busy a pizza place is? BBQ & Pizza (along with every other genre of food) live happily side by side.

It is not worthwhile or safe to drive down to Atlanta to eat. Guess I will just have to eat at what we have in Gwinnett.

Dawgsontop…….Some.Famous Daves in N. Fla are closed also. Owner of these franchises did not pay his payroll taxes. Could that also be the case on Powers Ferry?

For everyone thinking the Wendy’s location will work, Heirloom Market has already said that the location needs alot of work and commands a 10k/month rent.

CC, if that number is accurate, and I’m not saying it isn’t, the owners of that (former) Wendy’s location are insane. Empty for quite a while; parking lot needs work; located in Fulton vs. Cobb, meaning a whole different world of regulation and taxation; real estate markets have not recovered.
