Foods celebrating the royal baby

Royal baby cheese

Royal baby cheese

It’s a boy! With such excitement surrounding the arrival of the royal baby, retailers are quick to cash in on the fervor with products commemorating the event. As you can imagine, new lines of royal baby wear, toys, Christmas ornaments, mugs — you name it — have been launched in honor of the 8-pound Prince of Cambridge.

Krispy Kreme UK offered royal-baby-watch doughnuts featuring tiny sugared footprints and a pink or blue “kreme” center. But you’ll have to hop across the pond to get these Bite & Reveal pastries. Atlanta locations don’t seem to be carrying the product (and thought me quite silly to ask).

There is one way for you to participate in the celebrations locally. Last weekend, my friend pointed out a particular product that had made it into our neighborhood Kroger store. Westminster produced a limited edition cheese to commemorate the royal baby. It’s called the “William and Kate Royal Addition Cheddar” and as my friend noted, it was found among the “common” cheeses.

I’ll hold out for a 2013 vintage of royal baby mead. Surely it’s coming.

You can also celebrate by making the royal groom’s cake. Here’s the recipe I tried when William and Kate tied the knot.

Will the Royal Addition Cheddar keep until the royal baby becomes king? You know, open it and consume for his coronation.

Bhorsoft, me thinks you’ll have to leave it to someone in your will… unless you’re a wee one yourself. Long live the King!

Please, someone explain to me why someone cares if other people care about something that they don’t. So what that I care about the royal baby. Did you die reading this story No? Then STFU! Better yet, if you don’t like the topic don’t click on it and read and then . . . don’t comment on it!!!! See how that works? Try it!

I bought some of that cheese, it’s actually pretty good. It’s a white cheddar, slightly crumbly, with a nice creamy aftertaste.
