For those who avoid gluten, dairy, soy, nuts and other food allergens, the upcoming Gluten & Allergen Free Wellness event on May 5 was created just for you.
Much like a weekend market, the event will host an array of vendors, both local and national, offering samples and selling their allergy-friendly products. The almost 25 local producers include American Gra-Frutti, Mama Bakes Safe Cakes, Pure Knead and Premade Paleo. The event will also showcase Kosher gluten-free foods.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be presentations by guest speakers including Cynthia Rudert, a gastroenterologist specializing in celiac disease and Carol Kicinski, founder of Simply Gluten Free magazine.
Additionally, cooking demonstrations by prominent allergy-friendly cooks and chefs will be staggered throughout the event. See the event website for a full schedule, including times for demos by the following:
11 a.m. – 5 p.m. May 5. Gwinnett Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Duluth. Purchase tickets online. $10 adult; kids 13 and under free. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to local gluten and allergen-free support efforts.
