Have you been to Ecco since Chef Craig Richards came on board? He’s bringing an Italian influence to the restaurant’s European-inspired menu.

Richards began his career working his way up from line cook to chef de cuisine and later to executive chef in the Italian-restaurant kitchens of celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich. Upon moving to Atlanta in 2005, he took the helm at La Tavola, Fifth Group’s Italian trattoria.

When he moved to Ecco in 2011, he inherited a large restaurant with a devoted clientele.

2 stars for Ecco? Once again you prove yourself a culinary Philistine!

I will repeat that you are not qualified to review this restaurant, or any of its caliber.

I suppose this is what we should expect from AJC’s current salary levels.

go Nelly!

@whoa Nelly – Ecco may be a little inconsistent, which would place it closer to a one star. But I think there are enough quality items on the menu to justify the two.

2 stars seems about right

Whoa Nelly! is correct. It’s saddening to see what’s become of the AJC’s restaurant reviews, but worse is the potential impact a misguided review such as this might have on one of our city’s more consistently reliable and enjoyable spots. I was there Saturday night and the mussels couldn’t have been fresher and the strozzapreti was a beautifully subtle spring dish – precisely what it should have been. Doesn’t merit a drive? Nonsense.

Methinks Food & More may be on her last legs.

When the winner of the week is ‘PimentoGate’…well, you get the picture.

Grasshopper…..didn’t you see that all the food writers just had their contracts extended? Looks like Food and More is not going anywhere.

Based upon the “all over the board” blog postings, I’m thinking that Jenny got it pretty close to right with her 2 stars. I sure wish some of the nastier and more opinionated bloggers in our midst would share their own fantastic credentials so we could understand why they have the right to come across as asses.

If you don’t think 2 stars is right, tell me why… I heard Ken put up some reasons – don’t knock the review unless you have something specific about your experience at this restaurant to say that will counter what the reviewer experienced on her 3 recent visits.

@PJ – the simple answer is our experiences differ. I had my wife’s “big” birthday celebration there and the food, service and ambiance, as always, were terrific and enjoyed by all who came. It’s worth the drive – we come in from the North – and the food from start to finish was outstanding. And Jenny gave 3 starts to Hammocks in Sandy Springs, which we drove to, and to which we wish we hadn’t. Reasonable minds will differ, but I’m with @Whoa Nelly.

Thanks, Art & PJ. And Bob from Accounttemps, I did not review Hammocks in Sandy Springs. But, I’m glad you enjoyed your Ecco experience.

Jenny……Was Hammocks reviewed by the AJC?

Sorry Jenny – Jon did – 3 stars just the same for a 2 star (at best) experience. I have commented (as have others) on the consistency of review and how Ecco can be 2 while Hammocks is 3 is beyond me: http://blogs.ajc.com/food-and-more/2012/12/27/hammocks-trading-company-restaurant-review-sandy-springs/
