What’s New: Intermezzo, Amura, Mother, and more

Intermezzo

Intermezzo moves

On Monday, European-style coffeehouse Cafe Intermezzo moved south on Peachtree, closing the long-running Brookwood location, which opened in 1987, and opening a new location at 11th & Peachtree in Midtown, next to the Loews Atlanta Hotel. 1065 Peachtree St. 404-355-0411, cafeintermezzo.com.

Amura Buckhead

Amura Sushi & Steak Buckhead has been opening softly in the sprawling Terminus space once occupied by MF Sushi, and it will begin taking reservations on Open Table on April 1. Amura, which roughly translates to “Village of Love” in Japanese, also operates three Central Florida restaurants. 3280 Peachtree Road N.E. amura.com.

Mother on Edgewood

Mother, a new bar/restaurant in the Sweet Auburn District, is set for a soft opening this week. The joint effort between Beep Beep Gallery in Atlanta and the Woods bar in Brooklyn is situated in a three-story 3,600-square-foot historic brownstone near the corner of Edgewood and Boulevard, across from Church and Cafe Circa. 447 Edgewood Ave.

Baconfest

Baconfest, the outdoor festival in honor of the three B’s — beer, bands and bacon — also serves as an important annual fundraiser for Dad’s Garage. Things get wild and piggy at 1 p.m. Saturday, with carnival games, the crowning of the bacon king and queen, and a bacon-flavored silent auction. Tickets: $28-$98. 280 Elizabeth St., Atlanta. 404-523-3141, dadsgarage.com.

Slider switch

The Shed at Glenwood is eighty-sixing its Wednesday slider night and replacing it with a weekly fried chicken night. But Bantam + Biddy is stepping in with a Monday slider night, starting April 1. B + B co-owner Lance Gummere, who originated slider night at the Shed, will offer new sliders each week, such as chicken-fried steak. bantamandbiddy.com.

‘Pop Up Chef’

Back for a third season, the “Pop Up Chef” program on the Plaza at 999 Peachtree will be offering more lunch bites ($3-$12) beginning April 4. Look for chefs from Escorpion, Serpas, 4th & Swift, Empire State South, Cakes & Ale, Watershed and Rosebud to be part of the weekly mix. 999peachtreestreet.com.

Belgian beer

Woodfire Grill toasts Belgian brewing on April 4 with a five-course dinner, featuring beers from Wetten Imports selected by bar manager Brian Stanger, and pairings created by executive chef Tyler Williams and new pastry chef Karie Brown. Reception 6 p.m.; dinner 6:30 p.m. $70. Reservations required: 404-347-9055. woodfiregrill.com.
