Space STILL available on Top Chef: The Cruise

There is still time to get your tickets to what may be Bravo’s crowning achievement of cross-promotional shark-jumping, Top Chef: The Cruise.

That’s right…coming up in only a few weeks, hardcore Top Chef fans will have the chance to spend four days and three nights aboard the Celebrity Constellation on a roundtrip from Miami to Cozumel with some of the Top Chef alum. The trip is from April 11th-15th, and will feature appearances by most of the usual suspects, from Gail and Tom C. to Richard Blais, Angelo Sosa, Fabio, Chris Crary, and even a few guys from Top Chef Desserts who I won’t even bother naming because, seriously, who watched Top Chef Desserts?

When I first heard about this cruise back in August, I assumed it had to be an ingenious form of satire, but no…this is actually happening. Either that, or Bravos is really sticking to the joke, because this week we saw another press release on the event announcing the inclusion of Season 10 winner Kristen Kish and runner up Brooke Williamson. Now all of the Cheftestants know how the American Idol contestants feel when they are contractually obligated to go on a karaoke tour at the end of their season.

Here is my favorite part from the release (emphasis added)

In addition to previously announced activities aboard the voyage, such as “Quickfire” challenges, “Dining in the Dark” experiences, behind-the-scenes kitchen tours, Q&A sessions with the judges, Masters and chef’testants and dance parties with DJ and Top Chef Master Hubert Keller, guests can also play Ping-Pong with Spike, jet ski with Casey, try their luck at poker with Hosea and Mike or attend a mixology class with Yigit.

No need to Google it, I’ll save you the time – Yigit won Season 1 of Top Chef Desserts. Which obviously qualifies him to run a mixology class.

If you feel like telling all of your friends that you had a “family emergency” so you can sneak off and indulge your hardcore Top Chef fandom, there are still reservations available here. Enjoy, and make sure that no one snaps any pictures of your face while you are on board.

hummm No, thanks! But I might consider with Hubert Keller as a DJ; can they do that mid-afternoon. I don’t stay up very late at night… LOL…

Will the ship be big enough for Blais’s ego?

Huge Top Chef fan…yes, I watched Top Chef Desserts and have visited Blais and Gillespie’s restaurants here in Atlanta. Unfortunately, it’s a Cruise! So many cruises are going bad right now. I feel bad for Bravo getting caught in the crossfires of the media blitz on cruises. If they would host an event in Atlanta for a few days, I’d love to go!!!

It could be worse, it could be a Carnival cruise! As to Top Chef: Desserts, I found that to be a better competition than the gimmick-laden Top Chef of late. Yigit is a supremely talented chef, I have no idea about his mixology skills, though. Now cooped up on a ship with the egos of Blais and Fabio might be the biggest challenge.

Forget Padma. I want to see Gail in a bikini top.

I used to really like this show but it got ridiculous with some of the challenges, bringing back old chefs to compete again in a Top Chef series, Last Chance Kitchen, and the rip off of Iron Chef’s kitchen stadium in the finale. The show just isn’t interesting anymore for me, and with the exception of Tom, I’m not interested in the lineup.

I’d rather go on a Food Network pub crawl with Sandra Lee, Giada, Rachael Ray and Nigella
