Looking for a Valentine’s Day gift for your foodie? You’ve got three weeks. Let me share one of my all-time favorite gourmet gifts: cheese of the month club. It was a gift I experienced anew with each shipment and one I wouldn’t mind receiving again (*hint, hint, dear hubby*).
If you’re looking for a way to treat your Valentine, here are a few Atlanta-based food-of-the-month clubs to consider.
It may sound too good to be true, but it’s not. Pie Shop is now offering one-year subscriptions. Each month, a new flavor exclusive to subscribers will be announced. Members can choose to receive that pie or one of the current menu selections. Subscribers also receive a significant discount on their pie each month, paying $20 per pie instead of the $30-35 retail cost. Yearly subscriptions cost $240.
Get a monthly bread box subscription to H&F Bread Co. Each month, you’ll receive one of the bakery’s traditional selections along with a seasonal seasonal bread offering. You can also purchase subscriptions that include two pastries each month. February’s box comes with French ficelle, chocolate cherry sour dough and chocolate croissants (with pastry purchase). Subscriptions come in three- and six-month increments. $40 for three months without pastries/$75 with pastries. $75 six months without pastries/$135 with pastries.
Believe it or not, there are two local options for coffee-of-the-month gifts.
Martinez & Co. offers two levels of year-long coffee subscriptions, which include different varieties of coffee. While the company recommends whole-bean coffee shipment, it will grind the beans for your recipient, if needed. $325.99 Deluxe club, $399.99 Premier level.
At Atlanta Coffee Roasters, you can choose to receive regular, decaf or flavored coffees each month in three-month increments. Pricing ranges from $54-60 for three months, $105-117 for six months and $204-228 for a year.
Star Provisions, known for its cheese counter (among other artisan products), offers a cheese-of-the-month club featuring Southern cheeses selected by cheese monger Tim Gaddis. Each month will bring three cheeses (totaling 1 1/2 pounds) with crackers and an accompanying honey or jam. Join in for three ($200), six ($375) or 12 ($775) month periods. Packages can be picked up in the store or shipped for $15.95 per shipment. Call to join.
Pine Street Market offers a meat-of-the-month club, also called a meat CSA. Each month, you’ll receive 12-15 pounds of meat with items like lamb sausage, slow-roasted pork belly, applewood-smoked bacon and ribeye steaks. Boxes can be picked up at Pine Street on the second Friday of each month. Subscriptions can be purchased in three-month increments at a cost of $75 per month.
The wine club at The Wine Cellars entitles members to receive two hard-to-find bottles of wine each month from a variety of regions. Subscriptions typically come with one bottle of red, one of white. Red-only requests can be accommodated with an upcharge. Members also receive discounts on reorders of the monthly wine selections. Wine must be picked up each month from the Smyrna store. Pricing runs $39.99 monthly, $113.99 for three months, $219.99 for six months, and $429.99 for a year.
Keep it healthy with a weekly or bi-weekly veggie box delivered to your loved one’s door by Nature’s Garden Delivered. This service sells four sizes of boxes ranging from tiny to large. You can choose to receive only fruits, only vegetables or a mixture. The service also offers the option to choose locally-grown items only. Customize your box before each delivery by exchanging items or adding additional options like milk, yogurt, eggs, honey and meats. Box prices range from $28-$55.
See? Valentine’s Day gifts made simple.
