Carpe Diem in Decatur closed last month and Bluepointe in November. As for openings, how about Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar on Edgewood?

A couple of places that opened downtown in 2012 I’d like to mention: Naan Stop (fast food Indian on Broad Street, open for lunch and dinner on weekdays, excellent) and White Oak Kitchen and Cocktails (on Peachtree across from the Hyatt, creative takes on Southern food with a good beer and cocktail selection)

The loss of Bakeshop (esp. for a disgusting Lime Fresh) still saddens me, but was that technically in Dec 2011? Either way there’s no good bread, much less excellent croissants, in walking distance of the Midtown Mile. Rolling Bones died too.
Curly’s fried chicken opened in 2012.
Blue Pointe closed in 2011, FM Fats.

I don’t miss Bakeshop, to me it was overpriced and very pedestrian-quality baked goods. They couldn’t bake a decent cake to save their lives (consistently over-beaten and over-leavened batter). But, I agree that Midtown desperately needs a good bakery, the likes of Henri’s in Buckhead. Also, no tears shed over Justin’s or Straits.

Fuoco di Napoli was overhyped and overpriced. Just not great. Modern – also way overpriced for what it is. F&B – welcome home and better than ever. Looking forward to visiting Morelli’s in Dunwoody — when it gets a little warmer!

So, to be clear, there were no openings or closings in Atlanta south of I-20?

Gee, thanks.
