Have you been wondering where you are going to spend your first meal of 2013? If you can drag yourself out of bed, here are some great brunch spots to ring in the New Year.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 1, The Angry Chef, Ron Eyester, will serve up a spread of traditional New Year’s Day classics for brunch from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The special brunch menu will include smoked pork loin, black-eyed peas, and collard greens, as well as the regular Rosebud brunch menu. 1397 North Highland Ave, Atlanta. 404-347-9747. $$
Buckhead’s newest casual steakhouse will be serving a New Year’s Day brunch featuring a special “Morning After” cocktail, made up of coconut vodka, coconut water, lemon sour, and a splash of sprite. They will serve their regular brunch menu as well. 3376 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. 404-537-2828. $$
If you feel like catching a movie while you eat away your hangover blues, head over to CineBistro in Brookhaven. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, the bistro/theater will start serving brunch, including ribeye flatbread, lump blue crab cakes, and deconstructed peanut butter pie. 1004 Town Boulevard, Atlanta. 404-333-0740. $-$$
Starting at 10 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Murphy’s in Virginia Highlands will be serving up their full regular brunch menu, usually only available on weekends, as well as a range of all-day-long specials. Brunch will be served until 4 p.m. and dinner service will begin at 5 p.m. 997 Virginia Ave, Atlanta. 404-872-0904. $-$$.
Meehan’s Public House in Vinings has your hair of the dog cure for the New Year’s Day hangover blues. The Irish pub will be serving bottomless mimosas as well as a bloody mary bar, and a clam bake. Chef Val Domingo will also be serving a not-so-traditional New Year’s Day menu including Black Eye Pea Cakes, Low Country Paella, Black and Blue New York Strip and Brown Sugar Roasted Pork Loin. 2810 Paces Ferry Road, Vinings. 770-433-1920. $-$$
Celebrate New Year’s Day at Shaun Doty’s newest fast-casual eatery, Bantam & Biddy. The restaurant will offer a traditional Southern special of corned Brasstown ham and ham gravy, stewed organic black-eyed peas, braised collard greens, Buckeye Creek grits and sweet potato pie, all for $20.
