Fox Bros. update: Now offering full service, limited indoor seating

UPDATE, 8/5/12 10:45 a.m.: Fox Bros. posted an announcement on its Facebook page this morning with the news that it will begin offering full service again today but will have limited indoor seating at this point.

UPDATE, 8/3/12 6:30 p.m.: Fox Bros. will reopen for to-go orders only. In an online update, owners said, “You are welcome to sit down outside and enjoy it, but we won’t be offering full service just yet!” The restaurant is working on permitting issues to proceed with reconstruction.

UPDATE, 8/3/12 1:15 p.m.: Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q posted a statement on its website with an update indicated that the restaurant’s “main structure, kitchen and smoke house are still very much intact.” Fox Bros. will be serving its pulled pork today at Big Tex Decatur (308 W. Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur).

PREVIOUSLY: If you have a hankering for a little ‘cue today, you won’t be having it at Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q. The restaurant, located in Candler Park, will be closed temporarily because of damage from a fallen tree.

(See additional images here.)

Keeping a positive outlook, Fox Bros. posted photos of the tree on its Facebook page, saying, “Won’t stop us…” Later posts indicated that the tree was 70 inches in diameter and “took out two vans, one car and two dining rooms.” It seems that no one was hurt during the incident.

The restaurant will be closed today. On Facebook, Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q thanked Community Q for stepping in to fill its scheduled catering orders. Owners hope to reopen this weekend, but will know more after an early-morning appointment with an architect and contractor.

Fans offered support and sympathy after the announcement, with some even offering to help with clean-up efforts.

We will update this story as information about reopening plans becomes available.

This is a true tragedy. First the tsunami, then Hurricane Katrina, now this. I don’t really even see the point of the world going on.

This hurts my heart. I live a couple blocks from Fox Bros. I love smelling the pit when the wind blows it my way. My family eats there at least monthly…

Excuse me, I’m gonna go cry now.

So Mother Nature gave them some wood for the smoker? That was nice!

I am so sorry this happened to FOX Bros. I have driven by there many times and wanted to try to the place, but I couldn’t even park anywhere in the vicinity of the place.

If anything positive can come out of this terrible incident, hopefully, this will force them to move to a new, better location with MORE FREAKING PARKING!!

BBQ Fan, your wish is their command — they bought Maddy’s on Scott Boulevard some months ago as a second location. Although this latest event might delay their opening a while….

BBQ Fan – Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! They must stay in Candler Park!

You can park down Elmira or Josephine Sts if the parking lot is full. Or Sterling.

The old Maddy’s is going to be a rib joint, so I don’t think it’s like a regular Fox Bros. But, am looking forward to going to it. I just like having the CP one so I can walk to it from my house.

At least they didn’t report that one of the Fox brothers suffered a heart attack after seeing the damage. You know those tickers have to be strained.

Hey, Tammy and Packed: wishing ill on others – yeah, that’s the ticket. Compassionate liberals, my azz.

Plenty of parking on Elmira (unless there’s a big soccer game being watched at Brewhouse, then forget about it!). Come park on our street and enjoy our neighborhood eats . . . when it reopens. Hope the clean-up is quick!

Yes, selfish, inconsiderate barbecue lovers, by all means, PLEASE come and continue to block my driveway whenever you because The Fox Boys picked a tiny (stupid) location with insufficient parking for patrons of the delectable, delicious, mouthwatering food.

I’m just glad I can at least walk down there whenever I get that craving since my car is usually blocked…

Hopefully they get rid of the tex mex at Big Tex and turn it into another Fox Bros location. I never go anymore because it’s too crowded – meanwhile Big Tex sits lonely with plenty of free parking after 5pm.

I’m glad to see that Fox Bros. is taking what happened in stride and moving forward in getting re-opened for business. For those who posted some less than nice comments, why don’t you help them get the mess cleaned up so you can taste some of the best barbecue in Atlanta. The only other barbecue restaurant that even comes close is Southern Pit Barbecue in Griffin, Georgia.

No wonder we are the most obese country in the world……God forbid you have to walk a block or two for good food!!!! Personally, I have never had any problems parking at Fox’s, and if I have to park my car and walk, then I walk!!!!!

Seriously? Do we need hourly updates? Its a BBQ joint. It is good but there are others around that are good as well. Get over it. It reminds me of the idiot obsession some people have with Starbucks. Its just food people, not a religion.
