Could this possibly be my new favorite foodie meme?
We have all been there. As you read the brutally honest, sometimes pained, words of a Yelper as they detail the harrowing experience that has led them to leave a damning one-star review, the emotion rings in your ears. You truly grasp the moment, living, if only for an instant, the depth of experience endured by the harrowed diner.
Well, finally, someone has taken that poetry and put in into film.
Actor Chris Kipiniak, whom you may recognize as “Todd” from episode 233 of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, has tapped into the ecstasy and agony of the darker side of Yelp with his rendition of a one-star review of the Stratford Diner in NJ.
His roller coaster from a phone call to compliment the owner to the sharp turn to the horrific is borderline masterful. It makes you want to scream “I don’t think I’m going to eat there anymore either!”
I hope that this is the first of many.

When researching any business on Yelp, I discard any one-star review. It’s usually someone with an improper ax to grind.

I enjoyed the rendition but can’t help but wonder how much more powerful it might have been if he had used Elizabeth B’s review of the same restaurant (dated 4/14/12). If this review is true, then the food inspectors in that area should all be fired or arrested for taking bribes.

This is funny (but serious). The dramatic music is right on time.

Too funny!
Mr. Kipiniak has captured the smug insincerity of almost every Yelp review I have ever read.

Maybe there is more going on in my life, but I don’t get it.

I immediately stop reading any yelper who curses or refers to their “tummy.” As in “it made my tummy so happy.”
