There was a time when there was so little really good Chinese food in Atlanta that someone like Cheng demanded a following. But now, he’s a bit overrated. I wish him well, there’s always room for another good place to dine, but he’s not the “must go to” chef any longer.

As long as his restaurant stays open, I’m fine…

I guess the title of “Atlanta’s Most Handsome Chef” is up for grabs again…

Cheng is moving to Richmond, VA, not another Atlanta location.

The Tasty China 2/Peter Cheng location was poorly supported and based on my random observations from going there over the past year…was in financial trouble due to the lack of business. Not that surprising that he is on the road again based on that alone. The location did not help at all. I always enjoyed the food whenever I went, and made sure to try as many different things as I could due to his nomadic nature and my sense that the place could not continue to stay open based on how empty it was every time I went.
Tasty China has done well without him over time, certainly not at a Cheng level of excellence, but still good enough.

I have enjoyed having him just around the corner. Excellent food and a wonderful place to explore new options. It is a loss if he leaves.
