Chef Nick Melvin
Nick Melvin, chef de cuisine at Rosebud, has left his post to venture out on his own. Rosebud is located in Morningside and is owned by Ron Eyester (a.k.a. “The Angry Chef”).
Melvin confirmed the move and said,
Rosebud has been an amazing team to be part of for the past year and a half, but the time had finally come for me to back out of the daily operations and focus on getting my new restaurant open… I’m very grateful to Ron for giving me the opportunity to work and be a part of his team.
Before joining the team at Rosebud, Melvin worked a brief stint at Empire State South. He’s also spent time in the kitchens of Bayonna in his hometown of New Orleans, Frank Stitt’s Highlands Bar and Grill in Birmingham and Parish Foods & Goods in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward.
Melvin had no additional details about his new restaurant to share at this time.

Steven,
That is how chefs learn their trade. Did you want him to punch a clock at one spot for thirty years before he starts his own place?

agree with you wino except when two of the last three restaurants he was only employed for 3-4 months.

I don’t give a dmn how long he’s been where. I’ve eaten at each of the restos he’s worked at (save B’Ham and NOLA), I BELIEVE while he’s been there, and I’ve had nothing but great experiences.
Good luck, man – hope Eyester didn’t spank you too hard for leaving

Rodney, I must say that I did eat there during his very brief stint at Emprie State South, and while good, it has been leaps & bounds better with Ryan Smith at the helm now.

Excited to check out Melvin’s new place – that guy makes some great food! It’s about time he had is own place. Too bad Rosebud is going to go downhill from here though
