Going.. Going.. Gone.
Last week I had lunch at La Pietra Cucina and had a wonderful pasta special that my server relayed as the restaurant’s interpretation of ramen.
The kitchen takes some house-made linguini noodles topped with some earthy onion bulbs, diced scallions, slivers of peppery Italian sausage, a poached egg perched on top and finished with a warm pork broth elixir.
I really loved this nod to ramen. It’s not a large dish, and clocks in at $12, which isn’t a cheap lunch I know. But it’s handled with care and contains house-made sausage and pasta steeping in a lovely, thin-but-profoundly-flavorful broth.
I would unabashedly pay $12 for another order of this.

I would dive into that in a second. I hope they put this on the regular lunch menu so I may get a chance at it.

I had a version of that earlier this year served with smoked pork and topped with boiled peanuts, mentioned it in the Best Dish of 2011 blog entry.
One of the best restaurants in the city.

We went to this restaurant for my sisters birthday. The staff was rude and they were not accommodating in the least. We tried to ask questions about certain menu items and the waiter would give short answers as though he was annoyed that we were asking. One member of our party has an allergy to shellfish. He wanted as pasta dish, but requested if the shrimp could be left off. The server respond, “Chef doesn’t like to make any changes to his dish.” Additionally, the manager came to the table to help in clearing dishes, and did not bother to ask us how our meal was, in fact he said nothing to us. While the food was alright, it wasn’t worth the price and the service certainly wasn’t worth the price either.

I’ve been there twice, it is walking distance from me. I’ve had nothing but great food and service.

That looks delicious! The only ramen I’ve had is that in the cellophane packages.

Choo Choo: Try Miso Izakaya (after 10 pm), Yakitori Jinbei (only at lunch), or Umaido (in Suwannee, but totally worth the drive) for the real thing.

I absolutely love this place. The prosciutto appetizer is my single favorite dish in the city. But there is one, over the top, loud, obnoxious, tedious waiter that I seem to get at least every other time I go. He tries to be a show, funny and entertaining. He is none of those things. It spoils the entire experience. The food is top notch.
