Foodie suburbanites expect to drive inside the perimeter occasionally to dine at high-profile restaurants and shop at high-end kitchen stores. That’s a fact of life for those of us that live in the ‘burbs. But does it have to be? Maybe not.
There’s a small mecca for foodies developing in East Cobb. Someone got smart. Someone’s paying attention. That someone is Mary Moore, founder and owner of The Cook’s Warehouse.
In a press release, Moore said, “East Cobb has been the most-requested store location since the day I opened The Cook’s Warehouse in 1995. The area has a vibrant demographic, a strong sense of community, is very friendly to business, and a thorough review of registrants to our cooking school showed a significant percentage from East Cobb came to our classes.”
Moore acted on this information by opening the fourth location of The Cook’s Warehouse in East Cobb — the first outside of the perimeter. Like its sister locations, it sells an array of gourmet cookware and appliances and features a large demonstration kitchen. The Cook’s Warehouse is known for its extensive list of popular cooking classes and the East Cobb location already has a full range of classes scheduled for the coming months.
Moore chose the first suburban location of The Cook’s Warehouse wisely. It is part of the newly redeveloped Merchant’s Walk complex on Johnson Ferry Road. The center has attracted several tenants of interest to foodies. The Cook’s Warehouse sits next to a new Whole Foods Market, which opened in July.
Merchant’s Walk will also be home to Seed Kitchen & Bar, a modern American restaurant by chef Doug Turbush. Turbush trained at the Culinary Institute of America and has worked at both Nava and Bluepointe. East Cobbers are excited to have a chef of his caliber in their neck of the woods.

Roswell Provisions
The new Roswell Provisions, located on the main drag in historic Roswell, brings a market and coffee shop to Canton Street. The owners of Kellycakes and Party Chic recently opened this charming shop in the same building as their original ventures.
In addition to espresso and coffee, Roswell Provisions offers an array of wines, cheeses, and Patak deli meats and sausages. You’ll also find baskets laden with locally grown produce and fresh local milk and eggs in the fridge. Foodie gifts abound in the selection of local honey and bottled condiments peppered about the store.
You’ll want to spend time browsing in this gorgeous space decorated in warm wood tones with burlap accents in true French bistro-chic style. If you can’t tear yourself away, minimal seating is available both inside and outside the shop.
The only thing Roswell’s Canton Street needs now? More parking.
7 a.m.- 7 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays, 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. Fridays, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m. Saturdays, 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Sundays. 955 Canton St., Roswell. 770-645-2629.

As a resident, I am so glad the Cook’s Warehouse has arrived, can’t wait for Seed to open. Very disappointed in that Whole Foods – it’s very small, and doesn’t stock a lot of non-organic produce or ethnic foods. Couldn’t even find quinoa the other day. I’ll stick with Harry’s!
