Atlanta’s Battle of the Burgers returns for the second year on October 1st. For those that didn’t attend last year, this is a great little outdoor festival featuring 25 local restaurants competing for the best burger in town, with proceeds benefiting Embraced, a charity that provides orthopedic and prosthetic devices to those in need. If you aren’t a beef eater, there is a meatless category as well. Last year’s winners included Kaleidoscope Bistro, Grindhouse, The Nook, and Atkins Park.
I’ll post more details on the event itself as we get closer to it, but for those of you that can’t wait, this year the BotB crew is getting the festivities started a little early with the Battle of the Burgers Tour.
Starting Monday, August 22nd, the tour will feature a participating restaurant each day through the end of September. Participants earn raffle tickets for check-ins at the participating locations, with the drawing being held at the Battle of the Burgers on 10/1. Prizes include “a trip to Amsterdam, grills, and other cool prizes.”
For more detail on the schedule, participating restaurants, and ticket information, check out their website here.

The Vortex is not even a top 5 burger. You have to be kidding me. The Vortex is a tourist trap for folks making their weekend trip from OTP. For a grilled, vortex-style burger, The EARL and the Highland Tap are far better. For a flat top burger, Holeman & Finch, Grindhouse and Farm Burger.

My house, charcoal on a webber, ground chuck from Fresh Market( No grocery store for the masses stuff) pattied with care, grilled to a pink medium and served with a fresh Peppridge Farm sesame seeded bun and eaten quickly off the grill hot. $ 10 burgers out, mostly trash.

Ann’s Snack Bar has by far the best burgers!!!!! Vortex is good, but there are some who could compete with the joint.

cut the crap……just give me a bag full of cheap Krystal’s with cheese, some hot chilli and a Coke. All for about $6.00. Give $4.00 to some needy kids and all will be good!

DR…. To some needy kids? I’m sure that’s exactly what you would do… You just said that to give yourself a “I’m such a good person, liberal p***y hard on.”

Grindhouse is a joke. Don’t believe the hype people. Anns is a cool burger experience but not the best burger in town. Do yourself a favor and try the burger at The Nook that won last year – a shrimp and grits stuffed burger with a killer sauce. Kaleidoscope’s burger is good also – its the Chow Chow that makes it.

JB, unless you’re getting a food license and up to serving 150 of those burgers a day, your dumba** “mine is the best” post just confirms you as a rube. Nobody gives a rat’s a** about your unavailable burger.
I’m looking forward to sampling the various offerings, except anything with shrimp in it. I want a burger, not a seafood buffet.

The Vortex and Ann’s haven’t been the best burger in years. So many better burger places have popped up since they were on top. H&F, Bocado, Grindhouse, Flip, Yeah, Farm, EARL, and even Five Guys have all surpassed the ATL burger staples of Ann and The Vortex. Oh, and try the Andy’s burger at Cafe 640 (fka Cafe del Sol). Delish!

What a lame attempt at an insult. BTW, my boyfriend has a Ph.D. in Linguistics, is fluent in English, Mandarin (and two other Chinese dialects), and Japanese, and would know how to spell “shush”.
