With the arrival of spring comes a number of food events around town. Feed both your mind and body with these happenings over the next week.

Saturday, April 9:

Peachtree Road Farmers Market Reopens

Now in its fifth year, the Peachtree Road Farmers Market reopens Saturday with more than 50 weekly vendors. This weekend, Ron Eyester of Rosebud and The Family Dog will do a chef demo at 10 a.m. His is the first of more than 36 chef demos that will be held during the market season from April through December. 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturdays. Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road, NW Atlanta.

Cacao Buckhead Chocolate Croissant and Coffee Special

To celebrate the opening of the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, Cacao’s new Buckhead location right across the street from the market, is offering a $5 chocolate croissant and 12 oz. American coffee special. Starting at 9 a.m., Sat. April 9. 2817 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta. 404-467-4670.

Urban Picnic at Sweet Auburn Curb Market

From noon until 3 p.m., food trucks and street vendors will participate in the third Urban Picnic of 2011 at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market. Vendors participating include King of Pops, Yumbii, Good Food, Arepas Mia and Sweet Auburn BBQ. You can also check out the more than 30 vendors permanently housed inside the Market. Urban Picnics will take place here twice each month. 12-3 p.m. 2nd Saturdays, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. last Fridays each month through October. 209 Edgewood Ave. SE, Atlanta.

Wednesday, April 13:

Restaurant Eugene Author Dinner: Gabrielle Hamilton

Chef and author Gabrielle Hamilton will discuss her new book Blood, Bones & Butter at Restaurant Eugene’s next Author Dinner. Price is $115 and includes a meal inspired by the book, wine and a copy of Blood, Bones & Butter. Hamilton will be available to sign copies of the book. Liz Thorpe, Author of The Cheese Chronicles, class and book signing

Liz Thorpe, cheesemonger at New York’s Murray’s Cheese, is coming to The Cook’s Warehouse in Midtown to teach the class “The Harmony of Wine and Cheese.” Liz will teach participants how to pair wine and cheese so that they can host their own home tastings. Thursday, April 14:

Taste of the Nation

Taste of the Nation, featuring Atlanta chefs and mixologists, is a fundraiser for Share Our Strength, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger. More than 50 of Atlanta’s restaurants including Woodfire Grill, Aria, 4th & Swift and Pricci will have food and wine tastings during this event at the Georgia Aquarium. Additionally, there will be live, silent and wine auctions during the event. Purchase tickets online6:30 VIP, 7:30 General Admission, April 14.
