High tomato season is upon us, and metro area farmers markets will soon be brimming with them.
How do you find the farmers market closest to home? With our handy dandy map of area markets, that’s how!
Please check out this great resource, which the AJC’s Emily Merwin has put together. Click through the carrots, and you’ll find all the pertinent information — days of operation, address and phone number, and Web site. Enjoy!

you missed smyrna completely. On Tuesdays there is a farmers market at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church as a weekday source for Cobb Co. and Atlanta residents to buy fresh local produce and other foods. Local means we eat seasonal items that will taste better and be better for you while supporting farmers in our own community. The market is open every Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM, beginning April 27th. and on Saturdays at the Smyrna Fresh Produce Market from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visit the market Saturdays through October! The market is adjacent to the Smyrna Market Village in the Smyrna First Baptist Church parking lot–1275 Church Street SE, Smyrna, GA 30080.
thanks for your attention to this

Thanks John! I will definitely be checking out the Woodstock market soon! On a side note, I went out to check on my garden today, and I have a few green tomatoes and a freshly opened zuch blossom!
It makes me happy! (It’s my first garden…)

Thanks for sharing John! For all of those with an iPhone, there’s also a Farmer’s Market app, called Locavore. It’s got a map with Farmer’s Markets in your area with hours and dates. It also has a helpful chart of fruits and veggies that are local and in season as well as what is about to be in season with recipes for each.

Thanks, all. Please let me know if there are any others we missed, and I’ll see if we can get them on the map. I’ve already got this page bookmarked on my iPhone.

Snellville has a budding farmer’s market set to open up for the first time this June 5th. I’d love to be there when it opens, but my daughter has to be delivered to her SAT at about the same time. I do plan to go, however. It’s located at City Hall, best I can tell, roughly at the corner of Oak Road and Highway 78. There is a Facebook page for the Market, which people can use to find out more about it.

Our neighbors to the north have had a pretty impressive site for some time on farmers markets:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/artsandliving/foodanddining/features/2010/farmers-markets/index.html
Any chance we could incorporate a search by day and/or a listing as well as the maps?

Check out the Cathedral of St. Philip farmers market every Saturday from 8:30 till noon. Over 50 tents with all kinds of fresh vegetables, fruits, seafood etc… are on sale. Get there early for the best items.as it gets VERY crowded around 10 am. Organic vegetables and foods as well.

Please add the Snellville Farmers’ Market. Our market begins June 5th and will continue through Ocotber 30th on the Town Green at the intersection of Hgwy 78 and Oak Road, adjacent to Snellville City Hall. The market will open with 37 great vendors offering fresh-from-the-farm produce, eggs, meats, jams, preserves, honey, breads and other baked goods, all-natural soaps and lotions and a few culinary crafts. Look for us on Facebook.

I’m not one that is usually super-critical here but it seems like some of the info is out of date and was gathered from other out of date sources? Not sure why… Mentioned above, but basically all the Roswell info is either wrong or missing. Check out LCorbie’s post.

What a funny post. I have a tattoo of this exact map on my right forearm. I would feel lost if I didn’t know where a farmer’s market was at all times.

I failed to mention that there was one slight difference with my tattoo. I have a legend which gives a reference point for all of the carrots on the map. It’s strategically located just above my tramp stamp: the BBQ Pork Sandwich tat on my lower back.

I found some incredible peaches at the Farmers Market on the square in Powder Springs last week. The other produce looked really good also, but it was the peaches I brought home.

doesn’t look like much effort was put into (by ajc folks) locating farmer’s markets in the metro area. Hopefully, they can come up with a more comprehensive list. Also, the main website in which esther posted is very useful.

Don’t forget the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market. We’re rocking this year. We’re held every Thursday from 4 to 8pm at 1231 Glenwood Avenue. http://www.farmeav.com
Also, the Dekalb Farmers Market is NOT a farmers market and should not be on this map. It is a grocery store. A great grocery store, but not a farmers market. You won’t find any farmers selling their produce there.

AND — I agree with Judith, please remove Your DeKalb Farmers Market from the list — it is NOT a farmers market.

Lilburn Farmer’s Market is every Friday, 4-8, this summer. It is located next to city hall and Lilburn park right next to main street. Easy parking. It opened last Friday with peaches, greens, squash, onions, breads, salsa and much more. I’ll definitely go again this Friday!

Sandy Spring has a “farmer’s market” on JOhnson Ferry Rd at the former Target location. To call it a “farmer’s market’ is a total sham. How about truth? Call it what it is: a craft market, complete with tons of stuff you’ll never use or display. There’s NO FOOD at this location except junk food for your kids to beg for. Go to a real Farmer’s Market.
